Saw this as a double feature with Death Race 2000 when I was 13. Perfect.
another time tunnel movie, 47yrs this movie has endured one of the better representations of the 70's there is a classic still today.........!!!!!
totally agree, this movie never gets old for me. Bartel was one of the absolute greats.
I know that guy at 30:00. Well, it turned out not being Sly after all.
True
Reminds me of Burt. Reyonlds and sally feilds movies 😊
Bill Mckinney (Redman) feels almost like a joker esque charachter with that great maniac laugh. Love it!
great actor, will never forget his performance as the Mountain Man in Deliverance, tho I know his filmography is much larger than that one haunting role. Like all the parts he played in Clint Eastwood flicks. Anyway, this comment is appreciated. Thanks deek.
The woman driving the blue van is none other than Mrs Togar from the cult classic Rock and Roll High School , with that awesome rock group The Ramones.
👍👍👍✌️✌️✌️
Yessir! So many cult celebs in this. I love them all. But for me, Mary Woronov will always be the queen supreme. I love everything about her.
She's in another cult classic, "Eating Raoul".
Better than the stuff coming out of Disney and a lot of studios now .😊 most enjoyable
Word up.
So true, you bring up a good point.
Very good movie 🍿
Badass cars, badass stunts, badass soundtrack, and badass babes? Yeah. It's got 'em all.
*Neo voice* What if I told you it's also got: cameos by both then unknown Sly Stallone and Martin Scorsese (in the same scene!), Mary Woronov as a supporting player (Warhol alumnus), both Carradine bros, James Keach (younger brother of Stacey Keach), and photography by Tak Fujimoto (Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Silence of the Lambs)?
If you loved Death Race 2000, you'll love Cannonball!
How 'bout yeah?!
Yep. Tempted to just replace the summary with what you wrote. Much more succinct and tasty.
@@BoomerChannel_YT ☺I'm flattered.
Thanks for posting whole flick btw.
And low budget car crash king Roger Corman as the DA.
sometimes they have cb antennas, sometimes they don't. Sometimes the cb works without an antenna ! Fantastic !
Cannonball Run is one of my top-5 all time favorites. I can't believe I've never seen or heard of this movie. Thanks for posting!
I love all things Paul Bartel. This movie has been a fave since I was kid. So glad you got to see it here. Thanks, Michael.
Checkout Gumball Rally, 1976
This is the original. Cannonball Run came later
@@tylerstewart1471 It beat out Gumball Rally by a month.
Have you ever seen the Gumball Rally? If you have not you gotta check it out if you like this and Cannonball Run then you would love the Gumball Rally too.
Love this more than Cannonball Run. So much more gritty.
Shame it's cropped it as it's the cleanest version I've seen yet.
You might also like "Gumball Rally", yet another take on the exact same subject. I think it's the better one.
@@JimBrodieDo you mean there's too much editing? I thought YT would allow unedited MA
Always great to see Dick miller.
Buenísimo este film con el inmortal David Carradine saludos
This is the very best Trans-Am body style. Didn't know Sly Stallone had a bit part in this.
Yep. It's crazy seeing him before his glow-up.
@@thejoker1979666 I didn't know that. Have to check it out.
@@thejoker1979666 I was going to say this must be the prequel to deathrace 2000
Surprisingly as old as I am I have never seen this cult classic.
Well, we are proud to be the ones to show it to you. Love Paul Bartel. Love the whole cast in this flick.
Duuuuude.real talk.i am an absolute car fiend and I have never seen this one!good tho
Thanks to the Internet we see it
I saw this at the cinema. Loved it.
I, LOVE THOSE YEARS!! !! 70S 80S RULES!! 🥰😍🖤🖤💯🖤🖤💥👍✊
They really do. Most of the stuff we watch is from before 2000. Part of that is nostalgia. But also, idk, it feels like a different quality of content. Anyhoo, thanks for commenting Chris.
This and Gumball Rally were always a great drive-in double-feature.
drive-in is best
Yeah I like the Gumball Rally a little better but this is a great movie too. It's funny I have Gumball and all the Cannonball Run movies but I don't have this movie I gotta get it
@@79tazmanGot this on dvd back around 2005 .Prefer this to the gumball rally .
@@BoomerChannel_YTSmokey bites the dust is another great movie & I had to buy a used vhs copy from the states to keep here in ireland. The polk county pot plane is another movie I'm tryna buy on dvd but they only made a limited amount 😊
Ahhh the good ol days.
There are many scenes where they are doing 40mph max but still gotta love it
Apparently, Mary Woronov didn't know how to drive when they shot this. So all of her driving scenes were filmed with her behind the wheel of a car getting pulled by other people. Movie magic.
God, I just love the red color on that Pontiac....
It is a very cool movie, despite some... hilarious bits where... well, the cars kinda fixes themselves now and then. lol
agreed. they don't make 'em like they used to.
The best thing about the 70 s was all the wool! You could knit a sweater.
Lol. Yes you could. Good times
LOL!
3:12 Hey that's the gun shop clerk in Terminator! "Hey just what you see pal."
Nice catch.
I have heard a lot about this film. I love the cars etc. Great film. ty. Silly but nostalgic too.
Every now and then something pops up on my youtube recommendations and makes the prescription worth it. Kudos my 70s brother ;-)
Thanks Jim. Really appreciate that.
I’ll always hang around for a Carradine flick.
as will I, my dude.
This is great, all I had was a fuzzy copy I dubbed on VHS from the 80's. Funky music and I like the hapless Lincoln driver who just cant get a break.
Nice. Glad to hit you with the sparkly version. Thanks for commenting, JK.
Tripe, only watched it to the end for the 70's aesthetic.
Arrrr , the good ol days , big horse power, great fun thanks from Australia
you're totally welcome, karl ... glad you liked it
My man didn't care about all that red tape, nor did he ever need a shirt. What a legend
He owns his bones, and for that, we are grateful.
Amazing stunt driving 🚘in this movie 👍
What a great drive-in classic.😍 Thanks for the upload
You’re totes welcome, Rob.
This was such a great and fun film with a wonderful cast! I recommend a watch by all people that love a good cross country race film!
Love this. Glad you dig it, shalsies.
i was 13 when I first saw this movie... Thanks!
You're welcome! Glad to bring this back round to ya.
Ah, I see, this is more or less about the "Real" Cannonball run. On a low budget :) Thanks for putting this up.
You're most welcome. Glad you liked it.
BRILL these Films r the Best !! 🌟🌟🌟🥁💥
Agreed. I love the whole death race sub-genre. Plus, Paul Bartel rules, and the cast in this thing amazing.
Really old cars can't resist a good pile up.
Some things were just born to wreck.
Thank you so much from South Australia 🇦🇺 for posting this 70’s ultimate classic
You’re so welcome from New York. We love it too!
1:22:04 cars just randomly exploding before they even hit anything.😊
One great movie.
Absolutely. Thanks Chuck.
Great classic American movie,
Wait so Carradine was in two movies about wacky races? 😆
Yep. Both directed by Paul Bartel and featuring much of the same cast.
so was Stallone
Technically 3 if you count DeathSport.
This is a cool movie a lot of people don’t know about. When I talk to people about this movie, I usually follow it up with, “The movie with David Carradine, not Cannonball Run” they they will be like, “Oh, don’t know that one…” 😅
This was also called Car Quake when I watched it in the movie,s with my Dad many years ago, still fun to watch today.
Yes it was released as car quake here in Europe in the 70s then as cannonball in around 2000 .
I enjoyed this movie and am surprised I had not seen it.
Glad to hear it, Dean. We suggest watching all of Paul Bartel's films. He's one of the great filmmakers of our time IMO.
Great film THANKYOU
Dammm! Just dammm.. memories..
misty watercolored memories of a pile-up on route 66
All Love action movies very much alsow and Forever
Long time no see. So corny it was cool and a cult classic. 😎
Glad you enjoyed it, Bruce. And thanks for commenting.
Ahhh...a time when cars were made of metal and not of all the plastic nowadays....
seriously.
Cool movie thanks ❤❤❤😂
You’re welcome, Chris.
Well, I've never heard of this movie. A very "Slow" start. But I will watch it.
Nice. Glad you're gonna try it. I hear what you're saying about the slow start, but ... I dunno. I think this flick has so much style. And the cast is killer.
Love this movie 🍿
Chevy engines making Mustang's fast since the 70's!!
not bad...Gumball Rally is underrated as well, and better
Loved this film it was called car quake in the UK
Great find, I love all the continuity errors and 70s editing and shots from under the drivers, a classic iconic car movie.
sounds like you're a kindred spirit. Love all that stuff, and just the whole vibe of this thing.
Well worth the crazy.
carradine using kung fu
Never leave the keys in the car Cop !
57:22 cut from the scene was how the Lincoln driver spilled cans of petrol into the police car and threw lighter into it
CZcams had a problem with it, not us 🤷♀️
Zippo is pretty tough
In those days, USA cars would blow up at the slightest touch. :)
Great 😊
Thanks Mike. Glad you enjoyed this. Loved it since I was a kiddo.
I liked it! I'm not gonna compare it to Gumball or Smokey, I let it stand on its own. It's a B-rate movie with some good names & cool style. Rock On!
Now that is my kinda review. Thanks doodiebooties.
Way too many ads along the movie, still fun from '76 thx!
😂😂😂have to get this girl to hospital, meanwhile 🙄 😂😂😂😂classic
Right! Love Paul Bartel's humor. Eating Raoul is another fave.
Seeing that Husqvarna motorcycle brougjt back memories. Hodoka, Bultaco. Where gave they gone? Husqvarna makes Chainsaws and kawncare products. Wonder about the Hodoka and Bultaco?
Hodoka went bust due to falling exchange rates, demand for bigger bikes, and a generally crappy economy. Bultaco faced similar financial problems and went the way of the dodo.
I'd like to own Bultaco Alpine and a Hodaka Combat Wombat
Best quality upload
Thanks. Really appreciate comments like this. Always try to upload the best quality versions. I'm actually gonna be reloading a bunch of stuff in higher rez. If only there were more hours in the day.
9:02 lol. where are my sunglasses?
29:39 Sylvester Stallone. Not even in the credits.
The couple in the Corvette deserve to win. They cut it out but they stayed with the girl at the hospital contemplating even finishing the race. The doctor reassured them that she will be fine. The doctor gave the driver of the Corvette something to help him stay awake. Stand up couple
What's with David Carradine and cross country car race movies in the 70s? First he battles Stallone in "Deathrace" and now this one. Carradine not long after his "Kung Fu" series days. "Cannonball", "The Cannonball Run 1 and 2", "The Gumball Rally" and, of course, the "Smokey and The Bandit" movies. This was like the golden age for stunt drivers.
probably just a case of an actor going where the work is. I'm sure he had no idea the whole race car thing would become a fad that churned out an entire series of films. And I'm sure he was thrilled at the opportunities. I mean, who wouldn't be?
10:24 Hahaha is this why Derek in vicegripgargage says that?
Stallone: "I wanna' tell ya' somethin'. You look very good fat."
love that he's in this.
Grasshopper! Wake-up
01/22/2024 Awesome version of Cannonball Run.
What is really cool is the old cars that we actually real cars and not plastic.
19:00 - The piano crap sucked they should have edited it out.
52:51 funniest piano scene I have ever seen.
36:41 the Charger releasing a plume of blue smoke from the left bank
There ain't nothing compared to the black smoke that was coming out of the blue Thunderbird at the start of the race,,,, I think somebody left the manual choke on!!!
Interesting. There are two versions of this film. Perhaps this is an earlier print? The version I have, starting at 50 minutes in when Carradine tries the headlights in his car.... the scene is tinted to make it look more like dusk. By the part where Carradine rolls his Trans-Am, the film is nearly black and you almost can't see the car flip. This version is obviously from a film print, noted by the dust and reel-change donuts. My version comes from an early 2000's DVD. Perhaps my version is "corrected" to make the scenes make more sense?
This is the highest res version I’ve ever seen, my DVD also has the day for night darkening, it’s weird seeing him walk up the road from the wreck in sunlight then at the garage in darkness.
Yes it's the same with my early 2000s copy too .
One is edited One is not. One shows everything MA This one doesn't
David carradine
Real cars.
There's no substitute.
It seems like Chevy engines making Mustangs fast since 70 s))))
Is that Robert Carradine (Revenge of the Nerds) driving that Vette?
Mustang Vrs Charger, I'm rooting for the Mustang and David C
Surely those weren't Super Duty Trans Am's. Hope it's just added Hoods and Shakers. They are at least 400 if not 455 engines.
Don’t understand your comment. If the cars are just window dressing then they don’t have the big blocks.
@thatsmytwocents4372 The 400 came in all kinds of Pontiacs. From Lemans to Bonneville. 400 was a common factory engine in the early 70s. The 350 was the basic engine. But the 455 could be ordered. The SD 455 was a TA option.
The reason I say it's 400/455 is how it roasts tires so easily.
@@jeffcampbell2710it had plenty of torque for frying tires..
From what I can tell they are genuine 455 Trans Ams, or at least two were. I believe they had at least three. At various points in the film, such as when one has the lower air dam missing, you can see they were originally white.
Sly Stallone eating a KFC lol....
IKR!
Cross country race is an endurance race. Speed don't mean a thing. A dependable car with room for consumables (both for man and and machine) and a good mechanic will get you to the finish line first.
Sounds like you've taken this ride before.
This movie is awesome not as good as the gumball Rally but still a great movie
thanks taz, glad you liked it.
Poor Zippo !
29:58 Sly!!
71 Dodge, but it's a 68. Interesting slip up they didn't catch in editing. ( helicopter dialogue @ about the 30min marker.)
Frankensteins father hooked up with Captain Furillo's squeeze.... before she became a counsellor and changed her name to Joyce.
4:15.... "I didn't know he was um... who knew.🤔
Took me two days, Wow Cannonball gave up the money for Linda
is that Rick in the Vette?
So they gave the stereotypical German an Italian car with a Ford V8 motor, yet he's laughing at American cars.
And somehow the slow cop car catches up to him, then the German goes crazy and explodes, while his speedo is showing 160 miles per hour even though from the outside view they were coasting at 35. Also the Pantera turned to a Dodge or something after it blew up. And why is everyone ramming each other instead of pushing the throttle to the floor when they are in a faster vehicle.
It all makes perfect sense. Great movie 11/10
29:41 Stallone and Scorsese Cameo
Haven't seen this in years. Remember watching it on HBO back in the late 70s'. By the way, did anybody else think that the huge pileup at the end of this movie was really overdone?
With these kinds of movies, there is no such thing as 'overdoing' scenes. That's the name of the game with low-budget exploitation. Thanks for commenting, Jim.
True. Thinking back now, the original Death Race was over the top too. Ah, the 70s', what a great time to grow up. @@BoomerChannel_YT
@@jimguy9874 HBO didn't come out until the '80s
Actually HBO launched in December of 1972. Google is your friend.
A little too awkwardly censored, loved the original though
This is a lot of the cast from death race 2000😮
Same Director as well , made the year before this ...
yep, lots of the same people were involved ... as other comments have noted.

Wie heißt der Song bei 50.00 Min. ?
End Credits name the Songs ✔️🎶🎶🎶🤩
So I'm not 100% sure on this. But I think a lot of the music was written by the director Paul Bartel, and performed by Gerrit Graham, the actor who plays Perman Waters in this flick, and star of tons of cult faves from the 80s ... a couple of my fave Graham flicks are TerrorVision and Chud II.
It’s a great song and suits the moment perfectly. Does not seem to be available for download
