How to start up your new sand filtration system for the first time. This one a Hayward system is much easier than you think. abovegroundpoo... / swimaboveground
please explain.....what do you mean rinse out the head? I'm on this video bc when I started my filter for the 1st time after winter, I had like ZERO pressure. so I'm hoping what you said in this video does the trick. But what about this rinsing the head part?
Every person I've spoken with, as well as the manual that came with the filter, states that you should add water to the filter before or while adding sand. This is to prevent damage to the pipe that runs down the center. So there should be a decent amount of water already in the filter.
@@AndreOutlaw When filling the pool for the first time the water is gravity fed into the filtration system. As a rule, when installing the sand it's a good idea to put water in the tank before sealing it up.
I just installed a 16” TWM Waterway sand filter and when I turn the dial to anything other than closed, water pours out of the backwash line. Any idea what’s going on? I am new to sand filters. Thanks
Backwash hose isn't collapsing fully and it's sucking from the filter. Try rolling up the first few feet of collapsible hose to prevent water from finding an easy exit.
What if you don't have your shut-off valves installed at the skimmer and at the return? Will you still be able to backwash or do you have to have the shut-off valves in order to do?
it's ok, let gravity fill the system. Keep valves open and let the water fill tank on it's own. Take care to let the air escape the system by burping the lid.
Waterway sand filter 19" 1.0 hp My brand new pool is not working and I have no idea why or how to fix it. 0 PSI, no suction from skimmer nor main drain. Filter mode leaks from waste pipe. No leaks anywhere. Water is midway on skimmer. Flap is moving. I just have no clue what to do. Bypass to waste does work but also does it on filter.
If you shut off the valves where does the back wash water come from?
Thank you for making it so simple. My dad always did this but he passed unexpectedly and I've never had to. I was lost until now!
for my first time building an above ground, youre the ONLY ONE who explain what goes where 😂 great in depth video THANK YOU!!!
Always rinse the sand after backwash before going back to normal filtration
Absolutely!
Short and sweet
It's letting air OUT of the system not IN the system.
Excellent video guys!! Thanks
You forgot to rinse before going back to filter. Rinse resets the sand.
Yes I did and very important to rinse the head out first, Thanks!

Do you rinse after backwash?
Thank you !
What is a pool frog? Is that the original pump?
Do you put water in the tank where the sand goes before you do all of this?
I need to know the answer as well
Recommended but not 100% necessary

Yes just make sure to shut the pump off and then on.
Always turn it clock wise, never counter clockwise.
Is it normal to have air bubbles in the filter or does it need to be water 💦. If that makes sense
I forgot to add water into the tank when I filled it up with sand, can I add water at the pump ? Or should I “prime it “

How did you do those valves?
Very helpful video! Thx
You forgot to mention to rinse after backwashing. So most people who will watch this clip, will get nowhere.
Where can I buy the valve setup you have?
Starting a salt water pool, how much sand do I need to add?
I have a question, what’s your phone number above ground pool builder ????
How do I empty the basket? There is always water pressure and i cant figure out how to stop the water, even with the pump off.
Thank you!
