I'm concerned about usability and protection. I don't know how this would work with screen protectors and cases, which normally need some kind of anchor around the front to hold the case on the phone. I also don't know that I like the bezel-less display from an aesthetic standpoint.
iPhone cases from Apple do not extend beyond the metal band. So I assume case manufacturers will have to update their designs. Based from the article, it looks like Apple wants the bezel-less display but not the curved edge design, so that 1mm of the metal band should still be there.
@@arvs7356 and if you’ve ever face dropped an iPhone in an apple case at an angle, you know why this is a bad design from a protection standpoint. The edge of the case gives way and the phone itself takes the hit.
@@RedNocturneI have the Apple silicone and leather cases for my iPhone 13 Pro Max and what you’re thinking of is wrong. I’ve dropped my phone face down, and side ways multiple times. The Apple cases ALREADY hinge to the metal band and the lip of the case provides ample height to cover the screen edges. Making the screen bezel-less, if possible, will not remove that. It will only remove the black space between the screen and the metal frame/band.
@@arvs7356 I’ve seen the corners give way on the Apple leather and silicone iPhone cases several times, in person, causing damage to the phone itself. They are way more likely to do this, especially on the pro max models because of their size and weight, than other cases. It is generally accepted that they are less protective than other brands due to their design. They’re just meant to protect from small bumps and scratches.
This is fine. There’s a market for that. If you like their cases, that’s cool! But what I’m worried about is the potential loss of more protective options because of this bezel-less design. Hopefully case manufacturers will find some innovative way to work around it.

I sold my iPhone 14 Pro 256GB and bought the iPhone 13 Pro 1TB AND pocketed the $300 difference. Is my experience ANY different to the iPhone 14 Pro? I’ve gained a notch and lost the dynamic island. That’s about it. Happy I made the trade 😊
I think that is the first time I have ever heard of someone downgrading by choice. I've only had family members do that when their phone got stolen so they temporarily downgraded to an older iPhone we had in the house. Honestly, I can respect that. You are for the most part getting the same experience but you are $300 richer. The iPhone's have stopped having such a difference year by year that a single generation makes no real difference to every day use. I am sticking to a 3 year cycle change as I feel that is when an iPhone is worthy of an upgrade.

We DONT need a bezelless phone!!! As it is I can’t hold the damn thing while watching a YT video without the side of my hand accidentally touching the screen and moving to another video. Happens constantly and it annoying. So I went with a case with nice raised border to prevent this. Bezelless is a waste of time….90% of people will cover it with a case anyway.
I’m pretty sure you said in a previous video that the Pro model will start at 256GB (so drooping the 128GB version). So yeah, the starting price will increase, but is it an increase over the current 256GB model?
In the UK the price has already increased twice. So let’s hope we don’t get a 3rd price increase

They already curve the bottom edge under so there is no chin on the phone. If they can somehow do the top with all the electronics up there, they don’t really need to do the sides. Most of the bezel we have now is just to make the bezels equal all the way around the phone. Seems like it’s really the top of the display that’s the biggest issue.
I love the bezels on my iPhone SE 2020. It means that I can have touch ID, which I prefer, and can have a camera without needing any notch. Another advantage of my classic iPhone design is that it is more repairable than a modern iPhone.
I'm using the SE after I lost my 11 Pro. touch ID sucks, the battery life sucks and so does the form factor.

They have been sneaking in price hikes for year by taking things away, like the headphones and the charger we used to get.

Honestly I think a bezel less display is a genuinely bad idea. Holding the phone wrong could allow taps from the fingers other than your thumbs on the opposite side of the phone, and yes, tap rejection code exists, but is it really worth it? And then how will we fit cases onto the iPhone? The bezel leaves something for the case to grab onto.
It be nice to get true colors and a better antenna?
I actually prefer some bezel as long as it even all around and flat - that's why I don't like curved infinity whatever screens

I'd honestly much rather have small bezels with no cutout at all. Small bezels just feel better than no bezels like with a TV in my opinion

I don’t like completely bezeless. Too many accidental touches plus the issue with phone cases. Why don’t they work on a phone that doesn’t need a case, not an intrusive dynamic island (aka mostly another type of notch). I’m so tempted to trade in my iPhone 14 pm for a 14 max. My husband was waiting for the 15 pm until I told him the price. 😮

I'm trying to be excited. Still not working. 14 missed me and it seems 15 will too. 13 Pro with physical sim is still working for me. I have S23 Ultra too and I sometimes alternate. iOS 17 is the thing I'm looking forward to in apple world.

No bezel is why I hated my Samsung phone. Kept false activating things because I was touching the screen while holding it. Hate this idea. Plus Tim Cook sees people wanting to spend more for the best in this current market where banks are crushing people with interest rate hikes. Ummm. Yeah sure Timmy, but who knows how many people will be willing to risk financial ruin and get one anyway.

I think that within 5 years the iPhone will cost 2k€…. Now it costs €1700 so €2000 isn’t far away…. I remember when the iPhone was less than 1000€ 🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻 (I live in Europe Belgium I know prices differ internationally and it’s even more expensive in India etc but whatever it’s still expensive over here)

A bevel less phone is a thing of nightmares. The bezel are currently too small too many false touches
I already have issues with the screen activating when I am just holding it, if they make the bezels smaller I might switch to android.

@@hhhmmmmmmmm I agree. I feel like my 13 mini is feeling its age - it can get super hot even when doing fairly basic things, let alone gaming - but it also could be the fact that iOS 16 has been so buggy. Regardless, the 15 Pro Max is my goal for this year!
