- The greatest hitting catcher of all time, without a doubt. Easily one of my favorites to watch as a kid. Here's a compilation of home runs Piazza hit in 1998 that are available online. Links to the videos will be down below.

I remember when my brother came running down the basement telling me the Mets traded for Piazza. I went nuts. NY radio station 95.5 WPLJ broke the story on the radio. He just change the culture of the team and gave them a bonafide superstar they haven't since Daryl Strawberry. Piazza carried the Mets down the stretch in the final 2 months of the season.
Has the game changed? Look how professionally Mike hits, puts head down, trots the bases with no childish antics!
I love the way the infielders just stare at him rounding the bases awe struck. That is what a HOF catcher looks like.
Great work with the video. But I actually recall in 1998 Mike wasn't like all that embraced yet. He struggled a little and was replacing Todd Hundley a beloved Met at the time.
He was a pending free agent at the end of 1998 and he did not give the fans or reporters any indication that he wanted to re-sign with the Mets. I remember being worried as well. I was ecstatic when he signed the record contract that off season and I've been smitten with him ever since.
Man I was at the grand slam vs ARI game. I remember the Shea crowd erupting more than I do the actual home run. It was so loud and Shea was rocking! I might be wrong, but there was a game he also slid into the visitor dugout to catch a foul ball and it might have been the same game. Thanks for posting the long versions of his home runs, lots of memories!
Piazza just had crazy power. Shea stadium wasn't an easy place to hit the ball out of. Ball didn't carry well there at all...and he hit balls that cleared the picnic tent in left field, multiple times.
Gotta love those last strike of the game homers.
Back when guys had self respect, respect for their teams and the other team. Just hit a home run and run the damn bases
0:59 , 6:04 , 4:31 , 10:19 fran healy ! , 7:34 , 8:56 , 11:58
fran healy.. WHAM !! 5:22
gary cohen , gary thorne, fran healy , bob murphy.... my 4 !!!!
Watching these videos really brings back the memories…………….The memories of just how much I hated Fran Healy. Damn, he was the worst announcer in baseball!
There is a Homerun missing. His first home run as a Met at Shea Stadium. I was at the game. It was against the Rays. I think the pitcher for the rays was Springer. I remember being excited because I was able to witness his first home run as a met at Shea
There's no video of it online. I looked. Unless it's buried somewhere, I couldn't find it. I remember the game clearly and was a bit sad I couldn't find it.
Correction: there's no full game of it online. I tried to stay away from ESPN highlight clips as much as I could.
I think I was able to add the home run you're talking about in this new video. Found it on a SportsCenter clip.

@@FloatingAppleProductions Na those weren’t it. I tried looking everywhere on CZcams and I can’t find it. I think the only thing related to that game I found was an article from the Tampa times newspaper yes that is the name of the company. It was the game where Rick Reed was pitching a perfect game into the 7th inning in which Wade Boggs broke it up with a hit to CF
@@GiantsJets718 start the video where the 1998 home runs begin. Should be the second HR shown

Did he have Power or what !!!
Light tower power!!
When the Dodgers traded away Piazza, I lost all interest in the team or MLB in general, for 15 season, until after the Dodgers franchise had been rebuilt..
