    Another good video, good size flights, and painting the wire/mesh black, great idea, as my late friend always, always said black was the best way to see the birds, noel bowman, brilliant birdman from Belfast. 👍

    Good job Oliver! Flights look great, do you not have problems with sparrowhawks? If I did similar here I would have to have netting a few feet in front to prevent sparrowhawks getting to the flights.

      Hi Keith,
      Yes I do have problems with sparrowhawks. I will be wrapping the front of all the flights soon with a plastic sheeting which I’ve found deters the hawks as they struggle to see the birds. In the breeding season I am considering using green scaffold netting on the fronts to help deter the hawke

  • @growclipbonsaiforseniors1951

    What about the top of the roof to keep the cold drafts out and the rain and the snow? Will you make a peak type structure to help the birds out by keeping the weather out? Just wondering.

    • @OCAVIARY
      @OCAVIARY  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi, the roof on the aviary is already covered in a corrugated clear plastic so keeps the rain and snow out whilst letting light in and keeping it warm enough in winter

    Do you have problems with cats on the roof. Good tip someone gave me was to put chicken wire about 6" from the roof, they won't go on the roof then.

    • @markdbowman2807
      @markdbowman2807 Před 2 lety

      Hi wal, cats on the aviary roof is a real problem, I tried mesh, the type that's around garden trampolines, I cut it to size and suspended it with taught wire/wires, about 6-8 inches from the roof of the aviary. They are a nuisance. Hope you can sort it out. All the best. 🐦👍

      I have had issues in the past but since having mesh, plastic and then areas where they can’t see the birds they’ve not bothered since
