Devongunsmith Diaries #39 BERETTA 686 FAILS TO CHANGE OVER BARRELS
YOU TUBE PLEASE NOTE: A GUNSMITH DIARY OF SHOTGUN REPAIRS
Any assembly or disassembly of guns is as part of my daily work as a gunsmith, with the express purposes of repair, adjustment or maintenance.
CZcams, this content can earn ad revenue:
"Firearm and paintball gun assembly and disassembly for the purposes of repair or maintenance.
Discussions on gun legislation or the issue of gun control.
Gun reviews and demonstrations.
Content featuring optical scopes and silencers.
Prop guns (Blank Fire re-enactment guns) when not used to harm a person or property.
A 'safe environment' refers to locations like shooting ranges or enclosed areas that are purpose-built for target practice.
A 'prop gun' is a non-functioning firearm by design. This definition includes guns designed to only fire blanks (blank firing guns)."
The Devongunsmith Diaries concept was conceived by me during lock down, and the premise was to be able to perform work without a fully set up gunsmiths workshop, but rather, using just the Cottage Kitchen Table, a few hand tools, some cordless tools, a table vice, and other small DIY tools.
The channel is not intended to be a how to guide, it is for entertainment.
While in the UK gunsmithing must be performed by the Licenced Gun Trade, CZcams is without borders, and if the channel is useful to someone as either entertainment, or indeed helps you to decide if a repair might be possible, then I have been a help to you.

I Have seen this problem come in many times over the years!
I had the same problem with a MK38 some time back. Found out it didn't like 21 gr carts. (it was an old gun) But 24gr worked!
Yes light loads can be problematic
if the shooter doesn't keep the stock tight against his shoulder, that can also prevent the barrels from changing over.
Most likely the owner’s clothing is absorbing the recoil and preventing the inertia trigger from switching barrels.
I have exactly the same gun. My problem is from under to over is fine but over to under the under won't fire. Not so much a problem for me because I shoot half +half chokes all the time.
I should drop it down to you. I'm over in East Devon.
I only own one double barrel with one trigger. Good video.
thanks
As my grand dad told me- Son, it's a shotgun, slap the trigger don't pull it ........
I have a 686 evo problem if I shoot top barrel first second barrel goes to a hair trigger. Also if using snap caps shoot top barrel first and can just pull trigger again for bottom other way round have to use barrel selctor to fire next barrel. Will a good clean solve this.
One time with symptoms like this, I found a grain of corn stuck in the sears… it can be all manner of things, but most common is something wrong with the sears.
Sorry, non problem!
I have had bad luck with Berettas terrible customer service I will never buy another one I’ve since bought 3 brownings never a problem just better made guns browning has better triggers i hated the safety on my 686 (new )
