The throw change is quite similar to a card mucking move. Your explanation and some subtleties that you used in the video (particularly with the positioning of the index finger right before the throw) really helped me make the throw more seamless without flashing during the muck. You're extremely profound in the way you naturally speak. You don't talk like any other magician out there. All this stuff clearly rolls off the top of your head. When you said your first copy fell apart from reading it too much I didn't hesitate for a second to believe that with so much ease. This change was a favorite move of Matt Schulien I believe - albeit he had hands like shovels and could pull off the Buckley version brilliantly by all accounts. Suffice to say, you do need decent sized mitts to perform this change convincingly - I'd never get away with it. The Buckley book has flown under the radar for so many years - I truly don't know why. The same could be said for the Card Manipulation/More Card Manipulations Series by Jean Hugard. Finally, your original touches in getting this move to work for you, are to be applauded. As a novice I've barely touched on lapping as yet so I would love to hear some of your thoughts on that aimed at a complete beginner. On your vid about the squeeze you mentioned your love of stealing cards from the deck, I also have this so would very much appreciate if you did a vid on stealing a card from any angle/position kind of thing. Then everything else you can think of. Oh and more history lessons please. Thanks!
I will be brutally honest,I couldn’t even understand the very first sleight,the strip!To say the book is tough is an understatement!!!Kudos to all those that can decipher the data and produce the relevant correct outcomes.It was a brilliant rendition of the guy though and very entertaining.Thanks.

I think... I think that throw change is the best magic trick I've ever seen. Laying that double lift on the table totally threw me off. Then when you were explaining the trick and slid your double lift on the table, my jaw fell. You, sir, have medicine balls in your pants. #HTA ;-)

@@Chronyql There’s so many, I’d lose count. I’ve actually gone back to some of the ones that got me started. One of my most favorites is Counts, Cuts, Moves and Subtlety by Jerry Mentzer. That book taught me the importance of sleights as they build arsenals. I also learned how important it is the practice sleights and practice them intensely.
Wow! (I just realised, before I even write my comment.. I think that every comment I ever write on one of your videos is going to begin with the word "wow!". Hehe. OK, carrying on..!) This was so interesting! I have that same dover edition and I have to be honest, there's barely anythjng I have learned from it yet. I find it a real difficult one! I am new to magic by 2 years and still working through rrtcm and -of course- erdnase. I love those two books and feel that I should be able to do most things in them both before ever moving on from there. I doubt I will ever stop reading erdnase as there's something new every time I pick it up. The Royal Road, on the other hand, isn't so much difficult or seeming to have new things to tackle upon every read, nah, it is more about the fact that I feel I should be able to complete every task in that book or I Daren't call myself any kind of card magician! So I endeavour to keep on reading it ...for years if need be. I am not sure what my point was originally but I wil just stop here, having shared a little back to you. Thanks for such fascinating videos my friend, you are now the most interesting creator on CZcams for me.

I learned about the throw change from Dave Cresey (mouth coils). He used a wide swinging motion when releasing the card and going to the deck. Your version makes more sense and has better misdirection.

To be honest, the wealth of material within Card Control leaves Erdnase's EATCT standing (as does Expert Card Technique). Maybe it's just me - but I truly believe EATCT to be very overrated.....despite what Dai Vernon and the modern-day sychphants say about it. Over the years, whenever I've had people telling me how wonderful it is, I've asked them to show me something from it. Only on a few occasions has this been taken up - and it's always the Erdnase Card Change (albeit I believe it was actually Houdini's).
Sorry for the second message. I bought this book quite a while ago(yes from Amazon), and it is a bit overwhelming, which is a good and bad thing. Would you be so kind as to recommend a few chapters or sections that an amateur like myself might be able to handle? Thanks again.
Honestly, if you’re still working your way through the harder sleights, the final chapter is a great place to get routine ideas, and in many case, you can adapt the handling to whatever you’re comfortable with

You're a very talented magician and I fully respect your skills. I've been doing magic for years and at one point was performing at international magic close up competition. I've got to be honest, when the Internet started and every magician started giving all there secrets away I totally lost heart with the whole art. I still do tricks and fool people but why bother. I'm disappointed with how it is. So is Jerry Sadowitz. You won't see him giving anything away on CZcams. Juan Tamaritz won't explain much. I think close up is finished. Sorry to be so miserable but I suppose that's evolution.
