My ocicat cat died yesterday, he was 18 years. He was the greatest ever living creature on earth, a true friend. RIP Beherit, I'll be missing You.
So sorry you have lost your beautiful boy.
😢 Very sorry....
Holy cow! I adopted my guy 3 years ago because I am retired and disabled and home a lot I didn’t know about the breed until folks kept commenting on his “dog like” behavior him being “glued to my side” and his exquisite markings especially his head! I love him! 👍🏼❤️
I’ve had 2 Ocicat’s and there pretty much just dogs in cat costumes. I can assure you all of your points are quite accurate but that’s what makes me love my boy Mötley
Love the name motley!
Yes I agree. Got lucky and found my OciCat at a shelter and he wasn’t there for less then 24hrs. I didn’t know what kind of cat breed he was until after I adopted him. He’s my second cat . He pummels my 10lb American shorthair since my OciCat is 18lbs of pure muscle
The chad Ocicat:
-Is purely domesticated so no wild animals were harmed in breeding
-His friendly & playful
-Has no wild behavior problems
- Easy the litter train
VS
The virgin Bengal:
-Wild animals were harmed in the breeding process
-Can have wild behavioral problems
-A flip of a coin if you get one that's friendly or one that wants you dead
-Hard to litter train
#2 is too cute 🥰 I hope my Bombay baby always feels free to speak her mind to me 🙇♂️ always love your videos that highlight the breed’s social side (#s 3, 5, 6, and 7) - there are a lot of misconceptions about cats on this point, and I’m grateful you’re correcting the record (on their behalf!)
Yes exactly! That’s for watching!
agree
I got mine at the shelter for $20 😎
Awesome!
Got mine from the road😅 I tried to research about him because he is really the jester of the house. All the video’s description are on point.
I got mine for free at the animal shelter 😂😎 they thought he was a regular tabby but the stripes and spots had me doing research and boom🥲
I also got mine from a pet rescue when he was a kitten. He is the BEST cat I’ve ever known and I’ve loved many. He has such a distinct personality and seems to have all the best character traits of both dogs and cats. I had never heard of Ocicats before until my son told me about them and then I was like, “Wow, that’s him!” It’s kinda funny that all these reasons they give for why you might not want one are all things I love about my boy 😂
That's a nice price for such a beautiful cat because I read that they usually cost around $800 to $1500 dollars depending on the breeder, quality and age.
I got my ocsicat from the pound I had no clue what I was getting into. I was still getting over my last cat dying when I adopted her and she looked similar to him. She is probably my favorite pet I've ever had shes so much fun and vocal. She's really hyper too she comes crab walking over to me all fluffed up wanting me to chase her its so funny. I love her but she can get on my nerves sometimes at 3 am screamingwantingattention. I just wish she would let me hold her lol. Even if I have to save up a lot of money I definitely want another ocsicat after Trixie.
I am 99% sure my cat is one of these, she looks exactly how they're described and everyone comments that she is so wild looking, especially because of her spot shapes! her dad was a stray in las vegas and I adopted her from a friend's litter, she is sooooo talkative and I even caught her meowing at our other cat who was crying at the door. she could be in the deepest sleep while Im having a conversation, but at soon as I say her name she wakes up and starts moewing. she is soooo playful all the time and follows me everywhere. she's attached at my hip. I'd pay thousands for another cat like her, although she is very ruthless when she plays but I've never once felt like i couldn't predict her. perfect cat
I have got two of them, I didn’t buy them I just adopted them ❤❤❤I love both of them and yes they follow me everywhere. They communicate and love being around 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I have 9 ocicat in my house right now. They're freaken awesome. You should always have two if you're going to have one. My 10th is a siamese and way more talkative.
Most images show tabbies, not ocicats.
No cat should be left alone. Its a myth that they do fine alone and most cats can get separation anxiety!
I have a female Ocicat almost 2 years old named Lunatic but I call her Luna. I need advice. My cat is sweet most of the time but she goes through these spells where she'll want attention and be held but then she'll tense up and bite/claw me extremely hard and run off. Also she'll attack my legs when I'm walking across the room. But 80% if the time she's sweet and loving. Does anyone else have this issue with this breed or is my particular cat a *Ahem* female dog?
A little back story she was a young kitten when I found her under a car in a parking lot, about 6 weeks old and the 1st year I had her I was busy and wasn't home much but now I'm home much more. Could I have damaged her in that 1 year?
I highly doubt most these people in the comments have owned an ocicat lol more than half of these photos are of tabbys, not ocicats. I adopted mine from one of the only breeders in my state, and he was not cheap. But I love him and out of all my cats, he’s been the most healthy.
Got mine at a shelter as well. He’s 18lbs of pure muscle . He’s a beast , I will agree he is super vocal and active . He acts like a dog in many ways . He lays all over me and sleeps upside down .
my aunt gave me my cat who is a very handsome boy who very well fits all of the descriptions of this breed. it’s possible he is!
I have an ocicat and she is everything the video said they would be. But she is the best
Lmao it's true. I have a 4 year old and he is ridiculously social. I had to leave him for 5 days with a sitter, it was heartbreaking when i came home. He learned to go in a harness and be in a backpack just to follow me everywhere. And he loves to talk back and be talked to
My ocicat kitten gets into everything😂 she is 4 months and she is active like a puppy. She sleeps on my chest
We have 2 Ocicats and they are smart, amazing, fun, loving, active and of course they love to spend time with us but there are also moments that they are independent. So it's not quite true if this video said the Ocicats are not independent. If you don't want the cat to be around you too much then maybe you should have a plushie instead of a living animal.
And not only Ocicats, most cats, doesn't matter which breeds, usually prefer a play mate, whether it's another cat or dog. And once again I will say, MOST cats so NOT all cats. Some cats prefer not to have play mate and that's fine either.
Yes, they are quite expensive but it's definitely worth it. In my opinion, this is about the preferences.
If you want to spend lots of money to buy a cat from particular breeds, go ahead. If you want to adopt from a shelter, be my guest. As long as you can provide a good home and good care for the cat, then do whatever you want to do. It's your life and your money afterall 😊
I adopted a 3 year old Ocicat with her 5 year old Bengal brother last year - incredible cats. All of your points are correct. Most importantly is that they 100% need a companion - and you better love the sounds of their meows. Ive found their favorite thing to do is climb - I installed sisal climbing poles all over the house and shelves ect. so they are never starved for activity and spend more time sleeping. My previous cat was an F2 Savannah - so multiply all these points times 100. The Savannah was by far the most rewarding pet ive ever had however.
How much did your Savannah cat cost if you don't mind me asking?
@@datguy1569 ~10K for my F2. I wouldnt recommend paying less than that. 3-5k for an F3
@@thedjmbenga1 OK thanks
I have a oci ❤ that cat i mine everything
I disagree that they like a busy home. There are other ways to stimulate this breed & actually they are highly sensitive, so don't like noise. Mine has a constant Peterbald companion to play/snuggle with but they also have a cat wheel, cat-trees, window cushions, toys & I'm home a lot to interact with him. I also play fetch every day with him every day, often several times as he brings me the toy to let me know or vocalises.
Stimulation - yes, but busy -no. He'd hate lots of children running around for example.
I just saw your post and yes my guy doesn’t like noise! He loves me and my caregiver who comes 2X a week but that’s it He won’t go near the cleaning lady who I’ve had for years! I don’t force him He’s an intense hunter ( at the patio door) and tracks animal sounds that are outside! It’s amazing to have him I’m retired and home in a wheelchair and he’s at my side all day long I love it! 😊
My daughter found her kitten hiding under a car in a plaza, he's the best
Drinking challenge: Take a shot every time a word gets repeated
If I outlive my dog and am in good health and still walking I'll raise one from a kitten. Walk him daily, teach him to retrieve, brush him every night before bed, take him fishing.
I got 2 in my studio, my life is mess.
Got mine for free
I got mine for free yep 2 stray cats😎
I'm all for adopting "shelter cats", but I just don't get the Ocicat hate in this video. My ocicats have been the best companions and nowhere near as diva, or high maintenance as bengals and (especially) serval hybrids. 👎
Drink every time he says “Best for you”.
Drunk
Some of these pics aren’t even of Ocicats bro 🙄
I know right 😂 This video is so ridiculous, especially when they implied Ocicats are so glued to their owner that they'll go crazy if the owner is not around. NOT TRUE AT ALL.
We're both working full time and we go on holidays, they have a nanny that will take care of them when we're away and it's not a problem at all.
You don't know anything my ocicat does all the opposite you say.
