You are missing out on a lot if you dont fight the team leader, without walking it usually takes me 1,5- 2h to get to excited, aka 3h to get full hearths and to move on another buddy
definitely great points you make here! I myself don't do it cause I find takes more time to do all those tasks espcially while im doing work and taking a 10 minute break to do these but if you can afford it do it!

@@tiny5298 there is one difference, between golden/silver, and classic razz/pinap/nanab, that being that instead of 3 berries, you can just feed it 1 golden razz. But no, it doesn't affect friendship/mood.

if you offset the 3 interactions with a training battle 15 mins after the three you can get your buddy excited in approx an hour and thirty mins

One can get a buddy excited without Poffin in an hour and a half. It all depends on the total EP (Emotional Points) each activity aways 2-3 points, i.e Feed, Snapshot, Play & Battle (Rocket, Train, GBL).. Every 30 mins. Walking 2km helps on top of these. Total 32 EP = Excited Buddy.
I do this everyday it takes me 11-15 days to get best buddy this tip is super helpful
I always have more poffins than I need just from those AR tasks. I’m always getting them and they are the easiest task to complete

Another benefit when you reach excited is half walking distance for your buddy to get candy. Particularly useful when you have a legendary that has walked close to the 20km mark, get it excited and it's automatic 1 candy found then you walk a little bit to get that second candy
You have to distinguish that the only the half an hour ones are screenshot, play, and berry them. Things like battling continue to stack up hearts. So another good tactic is to put your buddy on the end of your battle team in raids, and throw it on your team for Rockets.

Do the 4 interaction every 20 min and you’ll have excited buddy in less than an 1 1/2 hours but you have to be on point and not skip a beat

I can get the buddy excited in around an hour. When it’s coming up to the 60 mins, I do a route and when route is finished, I’m double hearted. Subsequently, I do the route 4 times a day for 4 different buddies. Also, it now takes a lot longer to get besties with buddies. Nerfantic are tedious.
U can also js walk a very long distance and give berry to them everytime the buddy timer on map runs out, it would also get excited but takes longer
Another advantage of exited buddy is half its orignal distance to walk for candies

Turn off niantic ar helps a lot
You open the buddy screen. When it asks you to pick a location for your buddy close out of it. Go to your settings and uncheck Niantic AR. Go back to play with your buddy.

Do the single hearts that you got while exciting your Pokémon ( for taking pic, playing etc) turn into double hearts once he gets excited? If not, it’s way easier to just take a 15 sec vid because you’re not getting the total possible hearts and putting in a ton of work. Not to mention, I can get two or three pokemon max hearts in a couple of hours.
Poffins are every 5 AR scans....
F2P trainers should look into leveling up a strong Pokémon and leaving it at a gym. The longer they stay, the more Poke coins you earn. For every 10 minutes they stay in a gym, you earn one coin. You max out at 50 coins per day. I know it’s a waiting game but that’s how you get hands on free poffins. But thanks Daxi for the info, I didn’t know this until now lol
It’s also good to check how long a Pokémon has been in a opposing gym before fighting it. I didn’t do that and realised after putting my slaking that no one has fought that gym in 3 weeks. My slaking has been there for a little over a month. Can’t even transfer him too
I wanna share my self found tip.
Feed with normal complete single hearts, battling and playing is easy. Then came back and feed golden razz or Silver pinap. It'll automatically get to double heart level

I do that but battle then ate a 14 minute timer then give a treat set a 15 min then do what you do with a 30 minute timer then do it 2-3 times and then it gets exited

It happened to me once but it wasn't because I was doing that. I was fighting in a raid and that's how it occured.

I would actually recommend not feeding a berry every 30 mins as this extends their energy but doesn’t give you hearts.. it usually will take me two or three 30 min increments by simply taking a picture, petting, and doing a battle. I’ll usually get enough distance for the heart within the first two and if I also happen upon an unspun stop then it’s almost a guaranteed excited within two without needing to give a berry

I simply wait 30 minutes or walk 2km after all heart slots are full and give him 1 berry, take a snapshot, play with him and do 1 battle. It works everytime with my Gyarados. Tested multiple times and apparently it works.
