Magnificent looking Hammer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for watching, Jerry!
Both the hammers looks fabulous. One thing that I love about your videos is the part where you share the misses / errors in your build & how you go ahead to rectify / improve upon them.❤
P.S.: waiting for your next sword build😊
I am doing two swords simultaneously so it’s taking longer I’m afraid. Thanhs for watching!
@@TyrellKnifeworks Oh wow, two swords! Can't wait to see them & their build process. 😍
Both hammers look amazing. Well done.
Thanks for checking them out!
Those turned out beautiful
Thanks for taking a look!
Looks like a great learning process. Looking forward to seeing you make more hammers! Thanks again Dennis!
Honestly, they aren't my favorite things to make. I don't think I'll be making many more. I guess I just prefer bladed weapons. 🤣. Thanks for watching.
beautiful hammers denis they came out great Mark
Thanks for checking them out, Mark!
Always love to see purple heart go I to a project 💜
It was leftover from the axe from the chopper challenge. 😉. Thanks for watching
That’s one thing I haven’t made yet. I’ve made hammers and I’ve made Damascus. But haven’t put them together yet. One thing that helped me with making hammers was making a drift for the press. Takes a while doing it alone and a lot of heats. Then fine tuning with the hand drift and fullers.
I have axe drifts for the press but they can get away from you quick. I don’t make hammers or axes enough that I’m comfortable on the press so I do it by hand. Thanks for watching.
@@TyrellKnifeworks Your right about that. The press will wreck anything in a split second if not careful.
That turned out real nice👍✌
Thanks for watching, Michael!
To hammers,
As a first go thats really quite excellent, and I like that as always you look at things objectively
I'll be interested to see how it goes in use, most of my hammers are very personal and not only do I not like people using them I often get comments like "How do you even use that" well I made it for myself so it fits exactly the job and usually the hand I made it for (I'm ambidextrous)
To axes I didnt realise U.S axes are only drifted from one direction, Ive always done both ways and shaped the handle fitting to an hourglass like you do with a hammer
Thanks for sharing Denis ...inspiring stuff
Others may drift both ways but I typically don’t. It’s such a wide area, spreading the top is fine. Thanks for watching.
For your very first hammer, I think it turned out great! I would definitely be grateful, to make one for myself, that was half as nice! Thanks for sharing my brother! 😎👍🏻🔨🔥⚒️
Thanks for taking a look, Bob!
Always find it amusing how plumbers always have leaking pipes, mechanics always drive dodgy cars, doctors always have sick kids and now makers have Damascus tools with blotches on them lol. I really would not fret to much. My first hammer did not make it all the way to the end. Cool video . Cheers
It comes to the point where I’m not going to spend more time making something perfectly pretty that’s function is to get dirty and dinged up. 😉. Thanks for watching.
Such amazing work. Both hammers looks cool 😃😃
Thanks for watching this build!
Turned out very nice. Been wanting to make one but need to get some drifts made. Love the purple heart.
I do love me sone purpleheart. I bought a huge piece for the chopper challenge axe handle and still have a ton. Thanks for watching.
Whoa whoa whoa, where did the third pair of hands come during the drifting section?!? 😂
Haha, that was my buddy Jerid from Echo Blades giving us a hand. 😉
Hermoso trabajo.
¡Gracias por echar un vistazo!
Nice build Denis! I really like the pattern and the use of the purple heart. Definitely a departure from the bog standard hammer builds you usually see. Very cool!
Thanks, we tried to do something different. 👍.
@TyrellKnifeworks you succeeded! And I love the saber you are working on, too. Great job on both!
Been ages since you forged a blade.
Yeah, but working on two swords at the moment so stay tuned!
@@TyrellKnifeworks believe me brother when I say I have the alerts on!
Damascus hammer, that's different. This should be interesting to see!
Thanks for checking out the build!
@@TyrellKnifeworks I always enjoy your videos!
What's up brother hammer time
I almost did have MC Hammer dancing on the bottom of the screen. 😉 Thanks for watching
Lets GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Thanks for watching!
Did you make the punch for your press just for this project? Nice work, as always. I'm in the middle of forging a sort of chisel hammer, but not from damascus!
I had the punch from when I did the hatchet way back but I added the rebar cage recently for this project. Thanks for watching, Bryson!
Your hammer still looks great 👍
Thanks for checking it out, David!
Before putting that wax I would have heated the wood 40°C (little bit warmer than body temperature) so that the wood kinda opens the tiny "holes" and the wax could go much deeper in the wood. Good job!
Yeah maybe, it’s just for me though so no biggie. Thanks for watching n
I bet the Peen Jokes we're flying all over that shop.. that day.. 😮 😂😂
My peen was bigger than Rick’s, that’s all I can say. 🤣🤣
Beautiful hammers! Have you made a video on aerating ferric and I've missed it? Looks like an interesting idea. Thanks for the video!
I’ve mentioned it in a video but no dedicated video on it. Thanks for watching
Looks great :) What was your final hardness after tempering? I imagine not quite as hard as a knife ;)
We didn’t test these. They were tempered at 500 so that certainly brought the hardness down anyway. Thanks for watching.
Thor would be proud of you!
Thanks for watching, Ralph!
7:52 Out of curiosity, why do you drift from both sides for a hammer, but only one side for an axe?
Some people still drift an axe from both sides to get the hourglass shape and then spread the top out with a wedge. I typically do not. On something like a tomahawk you drift from the top down and slide the handle down into it. Thanks for watching.
Супер ! Такой молоток я бы купил.
Спасибо за проверку этой сборки!
What type of steel was used in hammers ?
Typically used use something like 1045 since they don’t need to be super hard. These were made from 1084 and 15n20 steels. Thanks for watching.
What was the tempering cycle?
We put these in for a few hours at 500.
@@TyrellKnifeworks thank you sir! Always enjoy the videos.
What radius did you decide on for the peen of the hammer? Ive been grinding a peen into a hammer and havent decided whether i want a larger radius or smaller one.
It’s pretty gentle, about a 3/4” radius on it or even a bit more. Thanks for watching
Hammer Time . Sorry couldn't help it.
Haha, I almost put MC hammer dancing on the bottom of the screen. 😉. Thanks for watching
Next up: A 20 pound Damascus sledge
Haha, maybe some day.
art hammer ...
Thanks for watching
First🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
😉 Thanks for following along!
Heh... Peen
It’s a big wide peen too. 🤣
