- Finally, I can cross Mt. Cheam off my bucket list. I'm thrilled that I chose to tackle it early on a Friday, as the place transformed into a bustling hub by Saturday. On Friday, I embarked on a challenging hike, greeted by a cloudy summit and a fresh blanket of snow. As I descended, the sun began its work, causing the snow to melt gradually. For my overnight stay, I found myself in solitude at the parking lot.
Come Saturday morning, I made my way up the mountain once more. This time, I was greeted by clear skies that unveiled breathtaking vistas. But as I began my descent, a wave of fellow adventurers appeared, turning the serene mountain into a bustling destination. By the time I returned to the parking lot, it was jam-packed! Trucks lined the streets, and those unable to drive all the way up were trekking along the road. I hadn't realized just how popular this hike was!
If you plan to drive up, be prepared for a potentially lengthy journey. In fact, the drive can take almost as long as the hike itself, depending on your vehicle. A reliable 4x4 is definitely a must-have. - Zábava
Hi ! I really enjoyed your video! Looks like you had ideal conditions. I am a photographer who moved to Chilliwack two years ago and I have not been up Mt Cheam yet. (need to rent a 4x4 and start exploring our amazing backyard) Thanks for the perspectives and views.
Thank you. I'm so glad you liked it and thanks for the feedback. I live in Vancouver and have been hiking the North Shore most lately, but I've purchased this vehicle recently with the hopes of going further into the mountains. Chilliwack is a very nice place for hiking, and there are so many more hikes I have on my "to do" list. Perhaps I will see you up there.
Was it easier to climb up with all the snow? Or do you think it be better during summer time?
The fall colors were very nice. The snow made it a little slippery near the top. I would think that it should be easier in the summer but I've never done it.
