  • Seaton Sluice is a small seaside village in the southeast corner of Northumberland, England. This video tracks the rise and fall of its harbour and explores the clues to its past that still remain.
This is by no means an extensive deep-dive into Seaton Sluice's past, but hopefully it has enough in it to pique the viewer's interest, and set them on a historic journey of their own.
Thanks has to be given to Billy Embleton, a local historian and collator of old photos and drawings who allowed me to show some of them in this video.

Fantastic video Paul. My dad Tommy had a boat there for years and I used to go out with him on the boat to lift the lobster pots.

Awesome! There’s something on the high tide line on the north east corner of rocky Island , like an old winch? Or maybe part of a ship? I keep meaning to get a long exposure of it. Just at the bottom of the cliff next to the Watch-house museum.

Cheers Stu! It's a Bollinder Two stroke single cylinder diesel engine with winch attached to a Norwegian type trawler. A very common engine for older type trawlers.
