  • NOTE: The audio sounds perfect on iMovie but horrible on CZcams, not sure why. Lovely... :|
    Finally got the pair by the Death Valley Stadium. Go Tigers! 2016 National Champs ;) Hahaha anyway, I thought that both would activate for the test but apparently I was wrong. I assume that the 2001 is part of Clemson's system and not Duke's since it did Attack, not Alert, but I'm not sure why the MOD didn't go off then. It made some popping noises as the 2001 was activating so it may have failed or it just might not go off for tests. This MOD is the same one that was in my recent lightning warning video. It does sound a bit unhealthy, but it's old so... I sooooo wish they both went off!

      The MODs are used for tornado warnings and other campus alerts. As far as I know, the 2001s are only used in case of a nuclear alert since our campus is situated near the Oconee Nuclear Station power plant.

    • @ACAPenetrator50

      The other two heard are part of the Oconee Nuclear siren system :) There are two 2001s right on campus that are part of that system, and then Clemson University also has two 2001s (including this one), along with the Modulators. Not sure why they have this 2001 right next to their Mod but... hahaha. You hear the 2001 near Fike and the one by the band practice fields.

      @queencitysirens8755 Před 5 lety +1

      Are you serious? 2001s are mechanical, which means there is chopper inside that spins to make noise. A Modulator is a speaker array with a tone chip, Basically.

    • @PlatinumEagleStudios
      @PlatinumEagleStudios Před 5 lety +1

      @@queencitysirens8755 Take out all the mechanics out of a 2001 and throw in a Whelen 400 watt speaker driver into the square chopper housing behind the horn. BOOM. Electronic 2001, witch is not a bad idea. Federal should make that. Might actually work pretty well too

    Why does federal signal always have that "dumy cell" on modulators?

    • @jimmehsaint
      @jimmehsaint Před 7 lety +2

      It directs the sound outward instead of at the ground.

    • @lonestarsirens1882
      @lonestarsirens1882 Před 6 lety

      It's there so the sound on the cell above it can be distributed equally along with the rest of the cells, if that makes sense.

    • @PlatinumEagleStudios
      @PlatinumEagleStudios Před 5 lety

      Because if you look at the cells of a Modulator, the cells taper outwards. The bottom of one cell tapers upwards while the top of the cell below it tapers downwards, witch makes a horn. The very bottom cell has to have a dummy cell below it so that it can complete the horn. Without it, the cell above it will not evenly project its sound and won't be nearly as loud as the rest of the cells.

  • @kacperthefriendlyghost3151

    Perhaps the MOD is used for public addresses and the 2001-SRN for the warnings.
