I love this show, loved the 70s version with Barry Foster. This version with Marc Warren is brilliant. He's a great actor!
Have any of the people, who gave negative comments, ever read the books... I loved the books, I loved the original, but I also love this, it's modern & has an energy to it. People, you need to open yourselves up to the new. 😊

A worthy successor to the 1970s series starring Barry Foster, based on the excellent books by Nicolas Freeling.

I feel like I'm going insane. A cop show about a Dutch police detective, set in Amsterdam, but nobody speaks Dutch and they can't even pronounce the main characters name correctly. Why!?

The remake of it is utter shite , terrible acting , awful dialogue and errors all over the place . Saying it's dogcrap is being too kind .

His Dutch accent is terribly hysterical.
Van der valk was a Dutch detective so why is the actor an English actor couldn’t you muster up a Dutch actor or teach mark to speak with a Dutch accent because it makes no sense that show is about a Dutch cop but he speaks with a British accent
I like it but not the hidden in plain sight WOKENESS. First. Are they any dutch people in Amsterdam? The cast sound like they are from the East end of London. Now the WOKENESS: the black guy is seen as being more intelligent than his white counterparts, they have lesbians and queers (The alphabet people) and the first 2 episodes were just about immigrants. Once you know this is happening and totally ignore the brainwashing to accept it, the plots are detailed and good. I watched the original series and it was not like this. Though, Marc does a good job

Hate this poor reproduction or reboot of what was pretty darn good back then .This is awful and that's putting it mildly . Hate it with a passion.
The one actor they could do without is Elliot Barnes-Worrell who plays Job Cloovers with a bad speech impediment and over the top acting. He was the one distractions on a overall good cast, I guess you needed to click one box.

Can't emphasize how much I hate this shite copy of what was pretty darn good for its day , early 1970's.
You are far too kind... its a new low in English drama, and spoken English... with truly atrocious acting... if Lidl made TV shows, using thier staff as actors. It would be better than this.

Loved the show, but sadly this new show does not cut it with me I am afraid, saturated with actors with lethargic London accents, just does not relate to the wonderful original.
