- The Chieftain Alex Grant and committee members lead the massed pipes and drums of 11 pipe bands through the historic town of Dufftown in Moray, Scotland, to the 127th Dufftown Highland Games. The parade included the Baron of Balvenie, Jeremy Duncan Nicholson, honorary President of the Games, and members of Clan Innes.
The Pipe Bands were led by Drum Major Nick Stables from Dufftown & District Pipe Band, the other 10 bands were Arberlour Community & District Pipe Band, Ballater & District Pipe Band, Buckie & District Pipe Band, Ellon & District RBL Pipe Band, Forres & District Pipe Band, Huntly & District Pipe Band, Kintore Pipe Band, Lonach Pipe Band, Strathisla Pipe Band and Towie & District Pipe Band.
This is a culture that needs to be cherished and protected
@Rad Derry What's this then?????? Mongo. There is literally thousands of videos of massed pipes and drums in their thousands from all corners of Scotland on YT to prove you wrong.

Hilarious
When the Scot's make an entrance, they really make a entrance.
Scots my friend....one 't'
Damn straight..
I've been to Africa, Asia and N. America but no country surpasses Scotland for many different reasons.
The Highlands and Islands are beautiful beyond compare, the Lowlands are fertile but also beautiful, the Gaelic, Scandinavian, Border and other cultures make a very interesting mix, the towns and villages are clean and attractive, the fishing is great if a bit expensive and people are very friendly.
Animal, it's about our presence. At the core, you really don't want to offend a Scot. And that goes back hundreds of years. The history is really quite impressive. Look it up. It truly is a fascinating read.
@Rad Derry
I'm specifically referring to Scotland.
I have visited there often to experience the wonders of nature, the archaeology, the music and dance, the different manifestations of a varied culture (Irish/ "Scots" culture, Scandinavian influence, etc), the food and Whisky and so on.
I have never experienced anything but friendliness from the people there.
I have been to many other interesting countries also and I assure you that they were not all welcoming.
No disrespect to Pipers elsewhere across the world, but when we Scots put on a Massed Pipes and Drums display, we do it with Style!
thats so! greets and respect from Germany!
yes, you do, lol
Lian, no because it's SCOTTISH! Nobody can own it. Just the Scots. PERIOD.
New Zealand does a good job, though many of us are Scots on an extended vacation ;)
Before I die, I wish to see this!
I love Scotland and probably I'm the only italian who gain a third place in 220 yards at the Ballater Highland Games in 1972. God save the Scotland.
Scotland is one of those countries you love but just can't explain why? This is why....
Why do you love this country? .... Play him the song of our people :-P (what is the title of the song btw?)

I’m American and LOVE to watch videos of this. It is heart stirring. I must have been Scottish in a past life. ❤️❤️
Scotland is great. I am biased as a Scot. Have only lived in England, Turkey and Sweden so my opinion is just that, my opinion. Visited the USA many times. I think we should cherish cultures like this because when the world turns into Starbucks shopping malls we will forget who we are and where we came from.
Beautiful music to my ears . . . 11 pipe bands playing in unison.
Yes
The Scotsman in me comes alive when I hear the pipes and drums!!

That’s an enormous pipe and drum band. I’m so impressed. Thank you for posting this video, truly.
If there's one thing that unites all four nations of the United Kingdom, it is a shared love for completely irrational yet utterly emotive patriotic parades.
Dont say that 2 sturgeon God bless
Anil Palan Nothing irrational about patriotism! Long live a united Great Britain and long live Scotland.
@@billymasson7878 Sturgeon and I are not on speaking terms.
Don’t say that to a 16 year old boy over text
@@billymasson7878 Itoo disagree sir.I consider it as an American to have been blessed with a little more than a quarter Celtic bloodline mostly through Cornwall, with a smattering err ing of Irish. Every time I hear the pipes I get a little misty eyed. There is nothing irrational about loving home particularly a home like the UK. God Bless and Keep you all!
Someday I hope hope to make the trip to highland games. My family goes back to the Mac Taggart's on my mother's side.I love to see all ages of the families walking with the pipes and drums.self me there's a lot of pride in their families over there.I also love the expression on the one lady who was the safety officer on the left hand side. She's trying to keep the crowd back , Those stupid fools they just won't listen

I first heard bagpipes in 75 while serving with the Old Guard at Ft. Myer, VA. A portion of the Black Watch came to the base for some type of ceremony and we got to talk with them a bit.
God bless Scotland!

If you're not up for a fight after this then you're already dead
John S great comment
Funny thing is the royal army still classifies the pipes as a viable weapon of war :D, a great many of her majesties enemies have broke and ran at the approach of the pipes!
Heres tae us, Whas like us, Damn few, and their a deid
Yes.
In English they're the "Bagpipes."
But in Gaelic they're "Pìobaì Chogaidh" - War Pipes.
Might be a slightly different spelling in Scottish Gaelic.
@@Trooper_No.2102 yes, this is true! In fact, the English also banned the Kilt as a "weapon " of war too. But here's something also interesting. When the Scots "went over the top" in WW1 , pipes blaring, and with their kilts, the Germans were terrified. They called us Scots the "Ladies from Hell"! Well. We weren't ladies, but anything, anyone, goes against a Scot, then likely we ARE from Hell.
Grateful for this
tingling with pride. pipe on my friends. pipe on
Off the chart cool...from Minnesota.
Love watching pipes and drums 👍 gleaming.
I've always loved the sound of pipes. I'm English but way back I do have Scottish roots - 200 years ago though. Maybe it's that little connection that the pipes resonate with. They bring tears to my eyes and I don't know why. I just love it :)
I LOVE BAGPIPES!!!
ABSOLUMENT FANTASTIQUE...
this is an amazing video. Much respect from NYC
just awesome , what a wonderful gathering !
I’m as Scots as the next bloke, I do love that in most Pipe Band vids it’s Campbell Town Loch ( I wish you were whisky) is the prevailing tune. God bless us, and all who’s like us 😉
LOVE IT THANK YOU FOR SHARING.
That made me want to join in and I don’t even know how to play the pipes.... yet!
Can you imagine a "Ring Walk" entrance to a Title Fight with this Pipe Marching Band leading the way to the Boxing Ring?!!?
you said 'yet' - how are you getting on learning?
check out udemy. There are a couple of beginner courses on there.
Love the sound of pipes
Who doesn't love a good pipe and drum parade.
yep that was good fun and a great warm day. i was playing pipes somewhere at the back left, i usually fall in behind Lonach. I think Dufftown games is probably one of the best games in Scotland. The games is really made by having a good sized massed band who every year give it their best.
i think Dufftown games needs to be publisised more to get a bigger audience and be considered the must go to games. Like the NC500 it was just a road until somebody put it on facebook. so too Dufftown games. the word will soon get around these are the games to attend. Also invite more bands to get above the magic 300 pipers and drummers.
The highlight to these games is the beating retreat at 1800 for an hour, as a piper it makes a long day but worth it!
Ian you are totally correct.Social media has opened up this tremendous Games to the World.A great family day out.Last Saturday in July every year.😀👍
Sheer magic, absolutely mesmerizing.
Me being sentimental and prone to poetry, I can't think of any other instrument that so fully expresses the Human spirit. 🍻🇮🇹👍
Wish I had been there!
