  • On the third day of my adventure, I walk approximately 14 miles from my camping spot at Loch Lomond to reach Beinglas campsite at Inverarnan. I stop at the Inversnaid Hotel for lunch, visit two bothies and meet a familiar face at The Drovers Inn. Who could it be??

    great video, brings back some memories from 20 odd years ago. Beinglas campsite wasnie there, just some b'stard farmer that made you climb over a 12ft high electric fence on a rickety style and had signs up saying any dogs menacing the sheep would be shot.
    looking forward to part 4.

    • @hfthscot
      @hfthscot  Před 7 lety

      lol sounds very welcoming I'm glad i wasn't walking it back then, although having Old MacDonald chasing me with a stick into an electric fence would have made some good video footage.

      You are right not to, only ends up getting banned or people ruining it, I'm gonna be careful in future not to give away precise locations.

  • @SouthWestWildernessScotland

    Great stuff, I'm fair enjoying this set of video's of your WHW walk. I've been in the Drovers Inn a few times on my travels, but Its usually just to grab a quick pint, never had any food in it yet. Atb Glenn.

      @hfthscot  Před 8 lety +1

      Yes I've eaten there myself 3 times now usually go with the macaroni and chips, only problem is they don't give many chips with that, my fault maybe I should have said no salad to get more chips. Let you in on a wee secret, The Drovers was just for show ;)

    I have twice camped at said camping spot at 15:42 the two times I did the WHW. We had mixed reception at that big hotel, first time in 2007 we were soaked and a Manchester employee of the hotel dried our stuff while we had drinks at the bar! Following year we went for food, got told we have to eat out the bar by the toilets! we were to hungry to protest it.

    • @hfthscot
      @hfthscot  Před 8 lety

      It's a good camping area shitty that's it's being banned. The bar by the toilets is the walkers bar, I guess you have to be a paying guest for the privilege to eat anywhere else. ... tho I suppose eating from a bar by the toilets doesn't sound too appealing at first.

    • @rossh9931
      @rossh9931 Před 8 lety +1

      I mean right by the toilet door out of the bar completely. The ban sucks bit as you said, there is some reckless camping going on there, a rave was going on down the banks when we camped in 2007. It was basically a Glasgow neds Butlins.

    • @hfthscot
      @hfthscot  Před 8 lety

      Oh right must be another room then cause the toilets that I know of are in the bar. Yeah u get too many reckless eejits kicking about, even the Goats are more responsible.

    • @hfthscot
      @hfthscot  Před 7 lety +1

      the new loch lomond camping byelaws came into force this year, you have to be careful where you camp now in this area or it can incur a fine of £500!! Crazy

    • @tomassmencis8889
      @tomassmencis8889 Před 7 lety

      Whattt? That is crazy.. Pretty rediculous. Is there warning signs at least? Where NOT to camp?

    • @hfthscot
      @hfthscot  Před 7 lety +1

      They have signs up but not necessarily easy to spot, some areas you can buy a permit but I bought a permit a few weeks ago, turned up at the location and couldn't even find flat ground. It's a bit of a joke. Here is the webpage about it - www.lochlomond-trossachs.org/things-to-do/camping/campingbyelaws/

    Can u not just wild camp anywhere as long as it's beyond the no camping zones? Am planning doin the WHW but am no sure of these things as yet. Incidentally liking ur vids m8, 'Luvly' indeed 😂👍🏻

    • @hfthscot
      @hfthscot  Před 7 lety +1

      Yes Dan you can camp pretty much anywhere outside the restricted zones but it's recently been expanded as you probably know. Plenty of campsites and bothies along this section though and as long as you're up past Rowardennan area it will be fine.
