    Horror is not my go to genre by any means but this movie was watchable and well executed . The vanity plates were the most over the top part of the entire movie.

    this movie had such a cozy atmosphere that I went to see it twice. And I could definitely go a third time

    Ghostwatch was a live TV documentary on the BBC in the early 90s on Halloween night. I was a teen at a party, and word got around SO fast (no mobile phones!) about this Real Ghost Show happening, it seriously was like the old War of the Worlds. Really strange atmosphere I remember, as the country just didn't know what to do - the BBC was so straight-laced and factual! Genius.

    Please rewatch this on shudder, ready to pause. There's loads of easter eggs on second watch mostly with the hosts wife popping up in monitors, in the stop watch on the table before the worm scene. I've seen this 3 times now and I'm still not sure I've spotted all the times she pops back up. I think you'd both appreciate seeing these 😊

      Heard about this after the fact and will definetly look for it on future watches. Everyone loves a hidden ghost.

    Actually, i was afraid this would be too much like Ghostwatch, which i adore. But as you said, we already have a Ghostwatch. I was glad this movie did its own thing. It was sort of like partial found footage, a partial behind the scenes doc like The Larry Sanders Show, and part Creepshow or V/H/S segment. It's a charming Frankenstein's monster of a film and infinitely rewatchable for me. I can also say the same for Ghostwatch, but, different animal. Definitely more scary and immersive.
    BTW, Ian Bliss was amazing as Carmichael. I think he didn't show his mask slip because he was all ego and thought he couldn't be wrong. He was the same guy on stage and off. A total jackass.
    And something i noticed about his moment of reckoning was that he was praying to Satan and all things unholy as a last ditch effort to save himself before reaching for the check, (a laugh out loud moment in the theater for me). That told me that he really did want to believe in those things, but his ego wouldn't let him. That was part of the reason he was asking Jack about his connections to The Grove.

    Forever sad no one knows David as macgyver’s nemesis in the 2016 macgyver. He was so good in it

    I watched this movie 4 days in a rrow. I picked up on little stuff with each view. Excellent film. CGI and nothing original has kept ne away from most films these days but this movie just sucked me in.

    It was decent and I had fun with it. The key to enjoying these films is not to have much expectation. Horror fans go into these with so much hype. Ghost watch is fun too. An annual watch for me.

    I enjoyed the movie, mostly for the period piece aspect, but I understand why you may have felt mislead a bit about how serious the movie was going to be. I think it may have been the trailers. The trailers for this movie were so damn good and scarier and more frightening than the actual movie.

    • @greencornerfilm
      @greencornerfilm  Před měsícem +2

      Agreed. Watched the trailer after watching movie and was surprised at the different tone.

  • @angiadcock8196
    @angiadcock8196 Před dnem +1

    I really enjoyed this movie. It’s definitely my favorite kind of horror, even if demonic possessions aren’t my favorite sub genre. I didn’t find it scary, but there was a pervasive sense of dread and anxiety that the film cultivated throughout that definitely made me uncomfortable.
    I agree with Reid that the sceptic character wasn’t as strong a performance as the host character but it was a pretty accurate representation of James Randi, the real person he was based on, and that might be why it suffered. I personally love James Randi but will be the first to admit he’s not the most charismatic of late night guests.
    Great review. I’m finally getting into your content of stuff I’ve actually seen and it seems we have similar taste so I’m keen to go back and watch a lot of the things you’ve reviewed well that I haven’t seen.

    Did you guys watch you'll never find me on shudder?
    It felt really predictable and antiquated but actually won me over as the movie progressed.
    It's slow, and like every shudder movie, don't expect anything outstanding or it'll ruin it.

    I really really feel the need to say, as NOT a gigantic horror fan, but someone who...sure, loves the occasional good horror, campy is not good. Horror fans love camp. Normal movie watchers don't. It takes me out of the movie, as it's meant to, but not in a fun way. So I'm just hesitantly saying, don't applaud camp just for being camp, it's not universally loved.

    • @greencornerfilm
      @greencornerfilm  Před 2 měsíci +4

      I think "camp" is like anything else... it can be used effectively and not effectively, it depends on the context and application. Camp is also not exclusive to horror, as other genres like comedy can use camp to great effect if handled properly.

    • @mrdozey7361
      @mrdozey7361 Před 2 měsíci +2

      Musicals are super campy and I love musicals ,melodramas are campy , comedy can be campy( especially in the. 80's)) , campiness' when done right is fine if done poorly it can be glorious or Atrocious it's just down to personal taste.
      If everything was earnest what a boring world it would be.
