Saying Dubas assembled the team that gave that beating. Ummm Dubas didn’t sign Domi. He didn’t bring in Gregor. He didn’t bring in bertuzzi. Also Robertson was not always a regular in the lineup. Oh and he never brought in Martin jones. So to say he assembled the team fully that beat him was a lie.

That was well earned for Dubas last night...he does not believe in defense which is why the Pens are doing so bad and why the Leafs came short so often under his tenure...
Proof. Tre signed Benoit and Lagesson to take care of the Leafs d-zone. Dubas traded for Karlsson, who is known for putting up a lot of points but is a career plus/minus -92.
Dubas acquired Brodie and McCabe, arguably the Leafs' two best d-men. The team has actually had pretty strong defensive metrics over the past two or three seasons, even with inconsistent goaltending at times.
@@deanb1272 Brodie and McCabe may be their best defenseman...Maybe...but that's not saying much...Dubas is the worst GM I've ever seen (I'm a 54 year fan of the Leafs)...And I've seen a lot of losing in my day with the Leafs...His inability to negotiate with young talent and their agent's is the reason this team up to this point will never win a Cup (barring a miracle) Weak defense, and No goaltending...His inability to negotiate has handcuffed this team financially while trading away future talent to make up for all his gaffs has left the teams cupboards bare...I've always said this about about Scooby-Dubas...His idea of the perfect team is...Pay 4 guys all the money...fill in the rest of the team with waiver wire league minimum bubble NHL players...That nobody else wants...Have no grit whatsoever...Sign as many 5 foot tall guys that you can find...and hope for the best...lol...The guy is the worst...The Leafs have definitely had their share of GM dumb-assery...But Dubas has zero hockey sense whatsoever...On an added note that Marlies team that won the Calder Cup under him was stacked...My Grandmother (God rest her soul) could have won the Calder from the grave with that team.

It's embarassing for Dubas because he has gone from golden boy genius that inherited the perfect build stacked with picks and prospects who squandered it all while producing one round rofl to exposed fraud. He really has no idea what he is doing. Any fan could have done better than him by doing nothing. The amount of picks and own rentals he gave up was pathetic. The agents walked all over him as well. His legacy will be a total failure.
Easy to say im hindsight that the team would be better off if nothing was ever done. His last two seasons he made great deals at the deadlines.
He made most of his mistakes in his first couple of seasons. I'm not a big fan of giving away 1st round draft picks.
His biggest mistakes imo were the contracts he shelled out to matthews and especially Marner which in turn made him have to give away our 1st pick.
Finally someone who understands. Dubas inherited a stacked young team fresh out of their rebuild from Lou Laimerallo and completely destroyed it. Fuck Kyle dubas

People keep saying Toronto fired Dubas, but Dubas sabotaged any attempt at resigning with Toronto by his end of year comments and his email to Shanahan, because of the opportunity presented to him by Pittsburgh (which is illegal in the NHL while under contract).
Thus Dubas QUIT Toronto and was NOT fired.
I say this as a Flyers fan with no bias. The Penguins need to make a change and it’s probably at coaching. They can’t defend as a team and I don’t think they are very good. Their talent is good enough and you cannot waste Crosby and Malkin right now.
Malkin is shot. He is like Ovechkin now. Unengaged, slow, and disinterested.

Du-bas played no role in assembling this team. The draft picks which built this team weren’t his. And he got nothing out of all the draft picks he traded away. He’s the biggest fraud in sports, him and Brendan Shanahan.
Looks good on him and the organization. He’s not a hockey god, like Cliff Fletcher thought he was either. And I’m not a Leaf fan either. You have to knock these over paid professionals down a notch.
It is getting interesting with the leafs. Mathew Knies is finding a whole new aspect to his power forward game. Terrific. Burtuzzi is figuring things out. Domi is a very skilled passer. Laggasson looks promising and Jones too. We need a couple of strong pieces to really push into round 2 or 3 of the playoffs. We are not a Stanley cup team yet but I have enjoyed the Dubas/ core four era. Trevling has yet to prove himself but he looks patient and confident in a process.
Better hurry up; the stars are in their prime years.

Correction Dubas never said he didnt want to be in Toronto what he said was "he didnt know if he wanted to be a GM but couldnt see himself anywhere but Toronto" the reason Leafs fans hate him is becasue right after being fired by the Leafs he was hired by Pittsburgh (which is sus because it suggests that he had that in the works as a hiring as a GM doesnt not happen in 2 days) and then took FAN favorite Jason Spezza with him and leaving many feeling betrayed that he signed somewhere else so soon after being fired.
The process was probably shorter than 2 days. lol. After a contract with a team is up, teams can and do reach out to other executives via their agent. While Dubas may have heard multiple offers from other teams, he went to the bargaining table w that info and presented Shanahan with his proposal. Shanahan told him to kick rocks. I don't know if it was the money or what, but the way Shanahan expressed it in his press conference, it sounded like he had an epiphany and decided to move on. The real process on Dubas's part was probably w his family than actual contract talks.
