Love the PS3 content. I still buy games from the PS3 store, about to get another, Datura. PS Move game that I recently became aware of. Biggest issue is how long it takes to download/install games, so slow. Also, PS3 store has Fatal Frame 1-3, Yakuza: Dead Souls, a ton of solid PSX classics. It still has great digital stuff that isnt available on PS4/PS5.
Agree! It also has some expensive games like Silent Hill that are great to get for cheap
Buy them physically for much cheaper because you probably won’t be able to re-download them once the store servers are gone.

I hooked up my PS3 today just to make sure it's still running. I'm surprised the price of some of these PS3 games on the PS Store. Some of these games are almost 20 years old and still $40-$60. It's crazy, you think they'd go down in price.
I can only assume that they either can't or just don't even want to bother putting these games on sale which really sucks since I was waiting for some of these games to go back on sale only to find out they weren't doing sales on the PS3 store anymore.
@@GenerationZ313 I save about 10$ a week and put that toward games I want. 70$ game? that's 7 weeks I have to save, and play other titles in preparation for the next title I want. that's how I do it anyway.

The PS3 is a beast for anyone who owns physical PSX games. I bought up the Resident Evil Origins bundle & RE4 to condense all my RE games onto one system. It's also comforting to know that whenever my PS1 laser inevitably dies, i'll still have a way to play through my collection of older games.
Okay so I just logged onto this thing for the first time since 2017 and after a few updates and password hiccups, I can confirm that I can go past the Playstation Music tab without my console crashing. I am on a PS3 Slim

Also, if youve been a PS+ subscriber for a while, you should check your account settings within the PS3 (not the store), go to purchases, you may see that you have access to a bunch of free games that you werent aware of.
Yo I was playing GTA IV online and mw2 all week on my PS3, love the content. You should do a PSN exclusives that are only available on the PSN store on the PS3. Trying to stockpile exclusive games so I can dump them in backups to my PC in case the store shuts down

You can't stress the store too much. You really got to come in the store ready for business. Funds preloaded, know exactly what you want add to cart buy and get out of there 😂
I've been buying lots of the HD collections as they are way cheaper than buying the physical copies nowadays. All the greats are on there.

Cool video. I have a Vita and was on the Vita store the other day. It worked perfectly. Also, I noticed the same thing about the prices as you did. Some of the best games were much less expensive than the not so good games. :)

There’s a ton of stuff that doesn’t show up in it’s proper categories. For example, some games/content only shows up if you type it in the search bar. I’m still bummed that Sony took away the ability to transfer games via usb cable to your handhelds. It was the only way to get Silent hill and MGS1 on your Vita.
Vita store is the same way. It's kind of a mess.
I'm both amazed and delighted that the PlayStation 3 Store is still operational in 2024. But the fact that its exclusive titles and DLCs aren't being transferred over to newer systems, including classic PS1 and PS2 that aren't on PS Plus, is disconcerting. Game preservationists, take note.
Crunchyroll is like Netflix but for Anime.
Unfortunately, the app was discontinued back in 2022, so even if you download it it won't work. It's actually incredible that it was working on the system for as long as it did. I guess they just forgot to remove it.

I ended up spending $120 on the store for exclusive games I missed out on since I always owned an xbox this month. Much cheaper on the store the Sly cooper and ratchet games than physical release to collect now.
chad console i still use and love the party function and the friends list function when playing bo1. It is still an unmatched console for many use cases
Well, in Romania the prices are way off, FarCry 4 is like 300 lei(60€) or infamous is 30€ a piece. When Fc4 on ps4 in Romania is 4€ and infamous second son is 7€
Just got gifted a ps3 from a friends dad , and I already bought 3 games off the store including Dino crisis which isn’t on the ps5 store & the physical copy is around $50-60 USD definitely still enjoying the Ps3 store to this DAY!

From time to timw i still turn on my ps3 just to browse my ps2 store and see if there's something i missed out that i should buy...
The problem with the PS3 PSN store is that you can't buy certain games if your account isn't from other countries such as USA, Canada, etc. I had to create a USA PSN account & buy a USA PSN card on EBay just so I could buy PS1 games that aren't available in Europe & UK. Examples being Dino Crisis 1 & 2, Parasite Eve 1, Megaman Legends 1 & 2, etc. And it's really annoying how Sony does this, because older PlayStation consoles has a huge library of games, but you cannot buy or get some of them from the PS3 store, because your account isn't from a specific country. And the PS3 store will eventually shut down, but hopefully when it does, the PS3 players will be able to keep the digital games that they bought & downloaded from the store. Because let me tell you, some of the physical games for PS1 are insanely expensive.
The PS3 store isn't all that broken. The only headache is adding funds. You can only add predetermined amounts at the Playstation website (unless you own newer PS consoles). My PS3 has never frozen in the download section.
Game prices at the store generally went down after the pandemic. USSF4 is $24.99 which is cheaper than some used physical copies sold online. If you want to play more obscure titles like Puppeteer, the PS3 is the way to go, unless you own newer PS consoles.

I missed out on so many good PS1 and PS2 games that use to be available on this console, and I don’t even like buying games digitally unless I don’t really have a choice.
One or two ps3 games were up to 50 there, for a digital only edition.. ouch. All your games tied to stores will surely push for future systems to always be backwards compatible
If and when they inevitably announce the closure of the PS3 (and Vita) store I'll be sure to get as many of the PS1,PS2 & PSP and whatever exclusive PS3/PSVita games are on the storefront just so I don't have to go and find them secondhand at astronomical prices.

Welp I used my European Account and an US Account on my PS3 Slim. After some update on the console, I can't use it and never can play my us game I bought, like Xenogears or Chrono Cross😔

I have a strong feeling something is going to happen (such as closure of online or digital store) this year causing the PS3 to spuke like it did in 2021 but be permanent
FIFA and some other sports games don't have price because they ran out of license for soundtracks and other stuff and didn't bother renewing it.
Because of this, some of the good fifa games [like fifa 16] are not purchasable on pc at all and didn't even get cracked. Meaning, it's impossible to play the game if you don't own it already [unless you manage to find keys from shady sites and even those will eventually run out].
the only thing I got from the PS3 store was Grand Theft Auto IV... I now can't install it anymore for some reason, it just disappeared from my account one day.
Also I remember when they said that it was going to shut down, but they changed their mind.
That’s interesting. It sounds like the digital version of GTA4 got delisted then. Another reason why physical media prevails….it can’t be taken from you.
Perhaps it was made unavailable because the version that's being sold currently removed some songs due to copyright reasons and when you bought GTAIV it came with all the songs.

I’m gonna buy as much Digital versions of PS3 games as possible.
Most PS3 firts party exclusives are really cheap, I'd recommend the Jack & Daxter Collection; the Sly Cooper Collection; Infamous Collection; and God of War Origins Collection. You'll get most of the games for 5 bucks or less.
I’ve been playing Sly 4 on my friends PS3, still looks great and I Honestly prefer the interface/home screen to the ps5

Considering that the latest leak revealed that the PS3 still has 2 million active users, I think it should last for a while longer.
Which is surprising considering the Xbox 360 and even 3DS/Wii U have already closed, kudos to Sony for that.
The Xbox 360 store is still open (at least until the end of July 2024) but yeah it will be interesting to see how long Sony is going to tolerate the PS3 store and online multiplayer before they completely pull the plug on it. If they are going to do so I just wish that most of thePS1,PS2 & PSP games that were previously available on the store are made playable on PS4 & PS5 but I can't say I have a lot of faith outside of wishful thinking.

Dont count on it. Their 11.02 update screws up almost every game. Some issue with sound files in games.

I just soft mod mine and download shit for free now. Why bother wasting money on a dead console? Especially since my purchases were taken away from me when they delisted certain games. Marvel versus Capcom 2 is no longer playable unless you pirate the game. Buying is an owning so piracy is not stealing. Don't care

COD games on the xbox store are way high too , i think it was advanced warfare they want 100 bucks for , ww2 was recently on sale for 25 , but yeah the cod games are way too high. Apparently, they are all coming to gamepass but that hasn't happened yet.

Phyical disks are king I never downloaded games from ps3 store since I bought my console in 2010 during the world cup.l on my 21st birthday. Only ganes i purcahsed was mass effect 2 dlc and deagon age 2

Go to the account management bit on the very last tab on the xmb it should show up as available downloads.
We can buy disk versions 😊if it closes and of course only off line gaming...old good playstation days.... multiplayer for 2 😊
