Music festival tickets have been rising in costs over the last few years and post pandemic it seems like event producers are still recovering and fans and paying the price. In this episode, I'm taking a deep dive into what is causing festival and event tickets to rise in price and sharing my thoughts on where I'm at with attending shows. I also have a few industry insiders share their brutally honest opinions on what factors come into play with show costs.

Not enough is said about scalpers and resellers inflating the market. I don't think festivals would sell out so quickly without them
Another big factor is definitely the lineups. We are starting to see the same artists headlining the same festivals over and over again. Which is great - some artists I'd love to see again and again! But after going to so many shows/festivals, things start to get stale and I'm less inclined to pay thousands of dollars to see artists that I've already seen multiple times. Not sure where we go from here though, maybe I retire from shows/festivals? haha

I live in Vegas so very fortunate to have EDC here. I would love to travel and check out other festivals but when you factor in ticket prices, camping/hotel costs and flights it’s just way too expensive to justify. I can buy a VIP ticket to EDC and have a luxury experience every year and it’s still so much cheaper than the total cost of going GA to electric forest or lost lands.
You are spot on about it costing the same to fly to another event abroad. I had planned on EDCLV this year, but I can not justify the price of a hotel room when a plane ticket to London costs the same. I've actually decided to try out Boomtown this year, since im spending so much I'd rather have a new experience in a different country!!
Totally agree. If you look hard enough you can find festivals abroad in a whole other country for less. Wild!😄 There is a Back to the Palace party that's $15 for 10 headliners but that is a rave not a festival.

Tomorrowland global journey package, if you get the right package it can include plane ticket, I went solo. And yes I went vip top notch accommodation camping, had my own cabana.it was well worth. YOU should definitely go to Tomorrowland and get the global journey package.
Tickets for ABGT600 were only 200$ usd. Mexico is cheep. Festivals in other countries are usually cheaper.
I started partying back in 99 and pretty much retired in 12. $20-$50 was the usual price. $50 if it was multiple days and camping was involved. A thousand bucks just seems crazy to me but I will admit the production was no where near on the same level.
This is just my view but around 2012 the scene started to care about production a whole lot more, to the point the dj got up there and pretended to dj because the lighting was so complicated. I feel like the prices went up allot around then. I did recently go to Japan for a festival for much less than what a U.S. festival would have cost me. The Japan festival was $120... not a thousand😄
I just started to make content, so hopefully I can apply later. But tbh everything is getting expensive which sucks but I think on the brighter side, it lets people who are really into raving hopefully have a better experience because people who aren’t are just there for the hype, last year I had someone compare cochella and edc and those are two separate vibes. I also hope the price steers away the pickpockets at these events.

It's won't. It's just going to move the demographic going like she was saying at the start of the video. Basically the people with money will keep going and paying for these higher prices for festivals while the not so fortunate will stick to smaller local venues because they will be priced out. I've already noticed this locally when I go to a big festival in town I see people ranging in age from 21+ to 60 whereas when I go to local events that are significantly cheaper its 90% 18-25 in age. When I asked people in this crowd are you going to Beyond they say no. I want to go but it's too expensive.
