Screenwriter Keiko Nobumoto, the original creator of the Wolf's Rain anime, passed away on December 1 after a battle with esophageal cancer, she was 57.
RIP Keiko Nobumoto, now she is in paradise.

I remember when I was done working out in high school and I decided to go home after. It was dark outside and it was snowy, 3 feet tall snow, and since I watched Wolf's Rain, I decided to walk to the snow while listening to this song. Wow, I wish I can still experience that day.

Rest in peace, Keiko Nobumoto. Fuck I actually kinda feel bad. Especially when I was just talking about Wolf's Rain with my nephew while telling him about older anime.
One of the few animes I couldn't bring myself to finish watching, I cried and knew I would get more emotional as the anime went on.
I'm definitely going to try and finish watching this one if these days.

Steve Conte is the singer, Yoko Kanno is the composer, and Tim Jensen is the lyricist. They also worked on "Heaven's Not Enough" and "Could You Bite The Hand?"; both of them also in the series.

I believe the score was written and composed by Yoko Kanno, but the lyrics were written by Tim Jensen (maybe)

If you're talking about Hideaki Anno, the creator of Evangelion, then no there isn't any connections between them. I don't even think they worked on any projects together before. Yoko is one of the most well known and popular female composers in Japan and many of her best works were done while working with anime director Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Kids on the Slope, Space Dandy).
it's amazing how the Japanese put so much effort into anime soundtracks. American animators should learn from them

Now *this* is a classic anime!
One of my favorite anime of all time and one of the best opening songs I've ever heard. Very few anime openings sound good sung in English and this one by Steve Conte is one of them :)

JuliBom Steve Conte and Maaya Sakamato/Yokko Kanno have created quite a few English songs together to be used in anime and I love all of them, especially the ones with Steve Conte's vocals

I can't believe I forgot this anime's songs. I had both the opening and ending on the now-ancient chunky pink iPod that I lost a while ago and I used to sing them regularly. I'm sure it drove my mom and sister nuts, but I didn't care. I cried so much when I first stumbled on the anime itself. I haven't watched it in a long time, but I was working when it suddenly popped into my head. I really hope this never gets taken down because it's such a good song with a great message, an appropriate homage to the anime.
So after hearing this song again after so any years, I felt compelled to watch the entire anime again. Needless to say, the ending pissed me off, all over again.

In a strange sense, I feel like I identify with this song; I’m two weeks from graduating high school, have always been a bit of a loner, and I feel like I see the world in a bit of a different way than everyone else. And yet, I’m happy. I run/jog for fun a lot, write stories about whatever I feel like, and now more than ever, I feel like I’m free to make my life whatever I want. Thank you, Wolf’s Rain, for reminding me that everyone has their own nitch in life and that no one is truly alone!

I remember watching this series when all the episodes were on CZcams. Probably the first anime I ever watched that had a tragic ending, too (I cried hard when I finished). To me every part of Wolf's Rain was perfection, from the story, to the characters, to the music.
It’s been nearly 20 years since this incredible show aired, and it’s still a song I listen to regularly. Truly, this song stands the test of time ❤ 🐺

In the 28 years I've been alive, I've already watched a LOT of anime, but Wolf's Rain is (imo) a highly underrated anime as well as my #1 Favorite Anime. I remember watching it when it first aired. The story's confusing at first, but you catch on quickly. The characters are written so well and though it can come off as very subtle, there's a lot of character development in everyone. Especially Hige and Tsume. To top it off, the music in the show is just awesome. It ranges from very soft and heavenly to tense and badass while working so well with each particular scene.
All in all, Wolf's Rain is a 10/10, in my books.
It kinda felt like it was only yesterday when I watched this anime but it's already been 16 years since I was a little kid who actually watched this anime...

Wolf's Rain was one of my forever fave anime when I was in my high school years. I probably watch this anime 3x during that time and re-watched it again just 3 years ago. I also love the OSTs, this one 'Stray' and 'Gravity'.

The ending of this goddamn anime left me questioning my very own existence. Like holy crap it's literally a cycle that repeats itself and the characters forget about each other?! Imagine that's how the earth is gonna end up with all of us dying and a new cycle of evolution begins. I don't even know how to feel about that.
Yuki Agiteru if you compare the very first shots of ep1 with the ending, you'll notice that in the ending Kiba actually has a lunar flower with him this time. Yes it repeats itself, but I'd like to think that the lunar flower hints that they get closer and closer to a true ending each time

That's the way I thought for along time, i would say i thought like this in the year 2000, what will happen when the karmic cycle ends would it loop back to humanity and we wouldn't be able to find our old landmarks anymore cuz they are buried to far deep into the core. Quite possibly one of the greatest anime themes IMHO
Wolf's rain was the first anime I ever stumbled on, it was the first cartoon i saw that didn't seem to be aimed specifically at kids and although I was too young to really follow with everything in the story it kinda framed the way I see the world, for a while I wasn't even sure if I had just imagined it up or if it was actually real and then I found out the name and found it was an actual show and for so many years I was unable to watch it anywhere until recently I found a dvd box set I've been able to watch through, very grateful to actually go back and watch it in its entirety. Such a beautiful anime, the soundtrack is so perfect. I didn't think so many people even knew about it honestly, everyone who I've spoken to have never heard of it. I'm glad to see there is a huge community of people who give this anime the love it deserves
