The 6 that deserves a "WTF". The 5 (homecoming) has a good history and a good atmosphere. Now the Dowpour is horrible. Totally without nexus, weak history, enemies who fight karate. Dowpour was the worst of the franchise. I usually clear all my games more than once, but the Dowpour was once and never again.

The songs full title is "Waiting for you- Live at Heavens Night'" Now for those who haven't played Silent Hill 2 'Heaven's Night' is the strip club Maria works at. So the reason for the cheering is that it's meant to be immersive as in you at Heaven's Night listening to Maria and her singing. To further this in the redubbing of Silent Hill 2 Maria is voiced by none other than Mary Elizabeth McGlynn. So, fun facts for you.

The way the main theme fades out in the end, while the crowd cheers, is pretty much how the Team Silent games ended, they went away while the fans were happy and cheering...for the last time in the series.

@lucassinclair8885 Because the original voice actor for James made a big stink about "owed" royalties, when actually he wasn't entitled to anything. Voice acting in Japan is a one and done. Maybe you heard about Bayonetta's original voice actor raising similar hell a year or so ago, similar situation. And hey maybe voice actors should get residuals, but I don't know if publicly trying to make a scandal about it is the right way to change things.
People said that this song should be on SH2. But it fits SH4 perfectly. Hear me out. The lyrics reflect on Walter and his relationship with his “mother”.
But the chorus it’s pretty straightforward and it’s about Eileen waiting for Henry to finally come back from his apartment. Remember, she can’t follow him through the portals so that poor girl is stuck right there in the nightmare world waiting for her last hope that is Henry. If he doesn’t come back, she is pretty much dead.
Absolutely, in fact all songs in this OST are mother/son and messed up relationships.
I thought it was about Little Walter outside of the room 302 waiting for his mom and the inability to find her, because the ritual is not over yet. Some kind of abstract mother from heaven with whom he is supposed to meet. Then according to the book, he will happily fall asleep.
It would've, if only there wasn't "live at Heaven's Night" in the title of the song. "Your Rain" is about Walter that's for sure

Nah, it’s just the leitmotif of the series. Yamaoka likes to slide it into many SH tracks. Even that melody of Theme of Laura is a variation of the main series theme. However, I think it was best used in Shattered Memories’ Hell Frozen Rain.

Every silent hill game I played until now I could not finish, but the music... the music and the ambiance are the best part of the games, and perhaps the story too, I'm sure of that. But the gameplay mechanics suck. Are tedious and boring; lost in a fog or in the dark finding locked doors looking for keys, I think the greatness of the soundtracks far exceeds the greatness of the games. At least in terms of gameplay

I think enough time has passed to say that SH4 TR deserves to hailed as the last Great Silent Hill game before thing swent out of hand. Yes Origins is ok and Shattered Memories was a cool reimagining of the first game, but this was Team Silent's Swan Song to the franchise before being disbanded from doing future games in the series and the creepy aura and story found in the game is intense and dark just like the 3 games before it. As well as having a spine-tingling killer soundtrack!
Downpour was on the right track. But the franchise just needs to rest. No remakes, no sequels, just a peaceful existence in the annals in gaming history.
Glad Akira is still working though. His music helped make the franchise what it was.

A lot of people hate on SH4 and while I agree that its not that great I still had a great time with it. Its been years and years but I still remember playing it late night, and getting actually oppressed by the atmosphere. It might not have been the Silent Hill I know and love but it was still an amazing horror game!
It's so sad to know that the VERY last thing living for the silent hill franchise lies within metal gear solid v the phantom pain. The two easter eggs: 204863 tape, and the P.T radio broadcast found in a soviet tent.

Guys, guys, no. This isn't a Silent Hill 2 song.
Silent Hill 2 was about a man dealing with the grief of losing his wife.
Silent Hill 4 is about a man who gets abandoned by his parents in an apartment as an infant and how that single shitty decision caused a lifelong of suffering and abandonment issues that leads him to believe that very apartment room IS his mother and she needs to be awoken through Silent Hill's satanic rituals.
The entire game is about people "waiting" for others.
Whether it's Eileen waiting for Harry to return from a portal, Walter waiting for the day he's reunited with "mother", Harry waiting for someone to save him from that apartment, or even the Room itself "Waiting" for its next victim. Just like Room of the Angel, this song has some pretty fucked up secondary meanings that relate closely to the game.
to be fair, Mary waiting for James was one of the themes of SH2 lol
