I'm playing with this build on hard and my character is an absolute beast. She just hit level 15, and has 60 AC without spell buffs. +35 to hit, too, so she's not a bad melee combatant either. In her portrait she has a metal bikini, so its kinda cool in the sense that shes fast enough to dodge almost anything that wearing practical armour would actually hinder her instead.
+8 mental perfection from the lich was an instant +4 AC compared to what she was wearing before, and it's cool that every mental stat is a buff to her defense.
Was tempted to give the hat to my sorcerer, but seeing her AC rise so much was impossible to pass up, haha.

U can go easy +4 Another armor by 1 lvl vivisectionist. Its also buff dmg and give u shield spell.
this build should have been a 1 handed Sai wielder, which works for Duelists also.. but gets 1 extra attack due to it counting as a monk weapon also. And replace Thug with Knife Master rogue, which synergizes with the Sai.. and there you go... your damage output will be significant.
What this video failed to mention is they are using mods to boost the point by for mercs to 25.

Really nice build, I've learnt quite a lot from it. The only thing I'd try to change here: I would trade some superfluous AC for Will saves. There is no use for more than 68 AC.
Fortitude saves would also come in handy for a frontliner. I'm told there's a LOT of death magic coming at you in the final chapter.

I was using a sword and board (tower) tank but even at level 6 she pales into insignificance again this build. They fight side by side and by the time she is dead, mostly, he has not been hit at all. Had to go 18 dex as only 20 points to share out as merc but still works really well. Nice work.
Yeah, shield tanks suck. I found only one playable build (very good build, but haaard multiclass :D). Maybe only playable shlid party is with teamwork feats. in 95% is dodgeroguemonc based tank better.
@Tyler W. I create totaly crazy tank. 4x barded archeologist, 2x paladin and 16x scale fist. Every monks build what i saw was based on rogue but bard is much better because he can cast mirror images and is charisma based. In irovety arc i had cca 70 AC on lvl 15. But magus is too very good class. In late game is mirror image best tank spell. 20x miss and when someone hit you he kill just image :D Only problem are saves which can one shot you.
I'm now starting to realize that PF is about multiclassing like crazy.
I agree, this is a fucking tank for sure. The only weakness is his fortitude/will resistance, that's all. Nice build, i'll test it

Funny thing is that I build pretty much this same charachter yesterday evening, with the difference that I went into aldori swordlord in the end.
You did convince me though that continuing in fighter is better since the whole intimidation route eats up a lot of feats that made me skip on important stuff like outflank and also delayed other important feats.

Make this a Sai wielder
this opens up the path to becoming a Knife Master rogue, which gets huge sneak attack dice when wielding the appropriate weapons for this subclass... a Sai qualifies as one of them and counts as a monk weapon for determening whether that 1 level of Monk will give you an extra attack.
Went with similar build but did toss in two paladin levels, makes your saves massive

@@azaer123 It was not an exact copy of the build, but looking at the build, I would take paladin at level 8-9. I also used an asimar for better stats and it was main character. You can drop either 2 fighter levels or duelist. Your unlikely to get to level 20, so the level 8 steelnet ability from the fighter probably isnt very likely and comes online when the game is finished.

Nice build. I use him as my main tank and is realy hard to kill and have nice dmg by sneaks. Only problem what i had was with beartreant in first world. He miss 12 atacks and instant kill me with 98dmg :D
Wouldn't musetouched aasimar ultimately be better? you replace the 2 ac in d stance halfling talent with 3 dodge ac at all times wings, i think you get 1 ac for being small so the AC is mostly a wash but aasimar has no negative stat penalties at creation as well as other bonuses.
Maybe but you can only get wings at lvl 10 so until then halfling is better. and wings is only against melee attacks also you lose the extra saving throws from halfling.
and the most important is that halflings are way cuter! look at those tiny legs *_*

I think its better to go vivisectionist tank because they can cast mirror image and other defensive spells and they can reduce crit attacks to normal attacks. I have had tanks like this that always ended up dying to stupid crits.
Mirror Image isn't on the alchemist spell list but I know what you mean. In most of the game this build was only hit on a natural 20 and unless the enemy has a way of automatically confirming critical hits, that means I have a 1/400 chance of being crit. It happens but its rare enough that it doesn't matter that much.

Lmao! I wonder if the Rostland Bravo will be an available archetype when Swashbucklers are released. I doubt they'll end up being released, because their staple (Parry/Repost) might be hard to program and balance for this version of the game, but I still want to see it happen. Maybe a Toggle like Defensive Fighting or Something: While turned on, if AoE is available and Panache points are available, it automatically attempts parry/repost while toggled.
For those who don't know, in the Pencil+Paper version of this game, the Aldori Defender archetype does not give Weapon Prof. for the Aldori Dueling Sword. Swashbuckler gives the Weapon Prof. feat and Weapon Finesse Feat. Then 1 level into Monk (PFS grabbing Dodge instead of Crane Style because of Monk Bonus Feats). Level 3, you will still need to drip into a Fighter class (not restricted to Aldori Defender) because you need two feats at level 3 instead of just one. (PFS requires Quick Draw for Aldori Dueling Mastery, so at level 3 you have Weapon Finesse (Swashbuckler), Weapon Proficiency (Swashbuckler), Weapon Focus (Lvl 1), Quick Draw (Fighter), Aldori Sword Master (Lvl 3). Likewise, you can be human - but you miss out on +DEX/+CHA. You can retrain this level of Fighter at level 5, when you become Swashblucker 4/Monk 1 (Swashbuckler gets Fighter Bonus feats at level 4 and every 4 levels after).
If you're not sheepish about your Wisdom Saves or Strength scores, you can crash your Strength and Wisdom. Because you won't be wearing armor, you only have to worry about the weight of your cloths and the weight of your weapon while traveling.
(The PFS Character that I was working on was an Ifrit with +12 Initiative, +16 when I reach a higher level for Improved Init, so he is rarely flat footed. :P)

build is great but lacks saves. throw in 2 lvls paladin and ignore duellist. your dumping BAB for defensive fighting so your parrys arent gonna be great anyway. lvls 8 and 9. playing that right now little more teamwork focused. thanks to the pala dip its truly untouchable. remeber those traps in armags tomb? i ran around in them for 20 minutes hardly got hit.
Thanks for the guide. BTW, at 0:52 your stats are Str: 10 Dex:19 Con:12 Int:13 Wis:10 Cha: 16 with 10 in Wisdom not 13 which you have in your video description. I was wondering how you got these attribute points to add up.

Sure if I had to redo this build as a human I would probably grab dazzling display with the bonus feat so that I could pick up shatter defenses instead of aldori dueling mastery. I would have to shuffle feats but it is doable.

Sounds like a solid build. But I will say that this build doesn't need any boost to saves, being dex/wisdom based it has very high reflex and will naturally and barbarians get a strong fort save I think all of my saves were in the high 30s but it's been a while
You'd probably be able to improve this with knife master rogue instead of thug. You can get dex to damage with knife master 3 which would allow you to dump strength to 7 and put some more into your charisma while outputting more damage. You'd also get a lot out of 3 levels in rogue and 1 in vivisectionist which would allow you to drink a dexterity mutagen for +4 dex +2 natural armor.

If you use scimitar with improve critic, you hit that halting with 15+ in your dice if I remember correctly. When you use two scmitiars you hit the halfling one every one every other turn. AC is that bad in this dnd games.
Actually in pathfinder an attack roll needs to be a hit to be considered a critical threat so if you have an expanded crit range, say 15-20, if a 15 wouldn't hit your targets ac, the attack doesn't land. Only a natural 20 is a guaranteed hit and even then you would have to do a second roll to confirm the crit. Thanks for the comment!
I think its better to put the rest of your levels in vivisectionist or the magus subclass that gives ac for int per level put into it just like duelist.
Oh boy, and I thought than use a conventional fighter defensive style mode... But this... double the AC I can get with a Half-elf full fighter. Maybe I gonna use this interesting build to be a elusive tank, than a common tank.
Dodge tanks are a lot easier to build and harder to hit than heavy armor and shield type characters in Pathfinder. Unfortunately the standard tank archetype is difficult to make work on higher difficulties.
Trying this build right now, with a small adaption in the progress line because I don't want to start out as a lawful character. So my monk-level comes in later. Works like a treat.
There one thing though that doesn't seem to be right in your explanation: with your first level of Duelist, you cannot used the Precision Damage, because it only works with piercing weapons... which the Aldori Sword is not. You would need to fit in Slashing Grace somewhere in this build to get this to work.
Late reply, but Aldori Dueling Mastery actually allows the Dueling sword to count as piercing. You can look at the description in game, or here's the d20 link: www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/dueling-mastery/
Aldori Dueling Mastery feat makes Dueling Sword Piersing weapon. You don't need Slashing Grace with Aldori Dueling Mastery.

Monk is hax. I have a druid/monk that hits similar levels of AC. Can't hit quite as hard but the buffs I throw out are silly.

I have a couple builds well suited to the lich mythic path. The Meat Shield and Mutant build work very well with lich.

if i respec valarie and put her as this build and its a Lawful good, will it fuck up her well example romance counters or like her neutral state?

He doesn't seem to be using the CHA for anything feat wise, I'd probably dump it for WIS and go Traditional Monk instead of scaled fist (and use a CHA user as the party face). Then you aren't splitting among two stats, get the same (or better) AC bonus, and better will saves.
I think they nerfed how many ability points you get? I'm recruiting lv 1 mercenary and only get 20 pts

Not only saves, but Smite Evil adds Cha bonus to your AC against one big baddie per day, which is great for a tank.
Its wasting. If you play with party then claric or paladin have buff Bestow of grace, or somethink, which give you CHA bonus to saves.
How are you able to level up that many times. I tried build on console but that doesn't work
Only 1 question for thes build why Thug? You will not scare anyone in combat anyway. And standart rogue gives bonus for traps.
@Tyler W. He means he is not taking any feats or abilities that allow him to put that frightening on use. But its true that thug is better at tanking anyways.

My best defensive action is Grease spell.
As far as I can tell the game seems to be wrong in it's calculations, at level 6 you take crane wing as a a rogue combat trick wich gives you a bonus combat feat, (you still need to meet the Prerequisites one of wich is +5 base attack, one level fighter gives 1, one level monk gives 0 and four levels of rogue give 3 so that would be a total of +4 base attack), wich would also hinder you taking duelist at level 8 since you at that point would have taken only one more level of fighter for a total of +5 base attack, where the requirement is base attack +6 so acording to the normal pathfinder d20 ruleset this should not be possible, or am I simply missing something here?

You can, just need to be lawfull for monk dip. True question is why play somethink else then lawful good. As non armor tank you want to be LG for +5AC robe. And you want be LG for bestow grace (íf you have paladin in party) for CHA to Saves. LG is totaly overpowered and others aligment bring basicly nothink. I think there is only benefit from LN if you already have one LG tank (only one LG robe in game, but there is another for LN, +3AC and for LE +1AC). Ofc you can play diferent aligment for you playthough but LG have far biggest effect in game.
Does this still work? How come it says that my Scaled Fist CHA-AC Bonus is capped at monk level?
I haven't played kingmaker in a long time so I don't know if they patched it. I believe one of the large popular mods changed the monk ac bonus to scale with monk level to eliminate monk dips. If you are running mods, that might be the reason.

Yeah, you get 25 ability points for your main character, but only 20 for mercenaries.... sucks

This build wears no armor. If you wear armor you lose the duelist and monk AC bonuses.
Does this build work for a non-hafling?
Try Aasimar. Just as good.
Yes you can use Aasimar with +2 to dex +2 to cha legacy. With starting stats of 8 str, 19 dex, 12 sta, 13 int, 7 wis, 19 cha. Later 20 cha instead of 16 will give +2 dodge bonus same as Cautious Fighter feat from halfling. And at level 3 you can take iron will for +2 will saves instad of Cautious Fighter. That will fix starting 7 wis. At lv 16 you will have 22base dex 20 cha. You will never get lv 20 in normal game so do't care of the last 1 point. And if get it can put in to Wis up to 8. :) Also i recomend taking tough feat at lv 1 for more hp. And Dodge at lv 3. And taking blind fight much more erly in game will be nice idia. Sins thes build is depands on dex bonus.

Tried this out, not as effective as a monk/rogue tank using Aasimar wisdom/dex. I find it silly thank unarmored tanks do better than armored tanks. It is just silly. Can't do that in D&D. This game seems to have a lot of options, but only monk/sorc combos really work well. So I have tons of great armor just sitting in my stash. I know a lot of you may love this game, and I do enjoy it, but the mechanics are idiotic.
Go watch "The Mountain vs Oberyn Martell (The Viper)". History is filled with examples of graceful fighters vs heavily armored ones. But I agree that a "tank" is not just a fighter but a 'stand your ground and draw aggro" type of role - it would be exceptionally difficult to do that unscathed without heavy armor in the real world. However, the D&D universe is a fantasy world so you have to allow yourself to use your imagination. You have "magic" which can bend the rules of physics as we know them. Magic can enhance your armor (whether it be cloth or plate), you have magical rings and necklaces that improve your AC, and characters can reach Matrix like levels of dexterity (with the help of magic too, of course). This is what I envision an optimized dodge tank doing essentially - a monk like Matrix character that is nigh impossible to hit because you can barely keep your eyes on him.
@@jigglefloyd GOT is not real. The reality is that armoured fighters have a tremendous advantage. Thats why people wear armour.

Because it's the whole point of Aldori Defender.
you cant legally start with more than 18 on any stat.....
and you cant improve any stat more than once on each stat increase.
and if your stat is already at 18 or more, you only get 1 more point per increase.
so assuming you get the best possible of a certain stat at every possible stat increase, the max you can have is 22(start with 18 and 4 increases of 1 each).
Those are pf2e rules. This is a pf1e game. Very different ability score approaches.

i've looked at amazing builds before, and then i inspect them more closely and the rules have already changed and broken those builds.
