- This is another video focused around Europa Universalis 4 and EU4 mechanics.
This video is focused around map modes and which ones I personally feel not many players use but they should. Many of you have seen me use these map modes on my livestream which you can find here: / absolutehabibi
The mod I use is called Illusionary Flat Political Mapmode v1.7, you can find it here: steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...
If you personally use these map modes a lot let me know down below in the comments!
#eu4guide #eu4tips #eu4
These tips are useful in both Singleplayer and multiplayer.
This is another Absolute Habibi guide video.

I like Trade Goods mapmode. It's kind of an overlap with Trade Value, but it's good to find valuable provinces you have or want that should be prioritized when deving and necessary to understand like 2/3 of your nation's income.
Video idea: play for at least 200 years as a North American Native ONLY using the Terrain mapmode (not simple, just terrain)
i also want to make my life measurably worse, we should link up
That sounds fucking terrible, all of it, every suggestion you made in that sentence sounds like a terrible idea.
He should try it
I mostly played FPS games before I got into grand strategies. I played EU4 for months not knowing about the political mapmode, playing entire campaigns as Brandenburg and Hungary with nothing but terrain mapmode.
@@furrrby I would've quit eu4 if I never knew about political map mode
@@furrrby You scare me
I like the truce map mode, especially if you are big...
You have a quick overview of who you can attack and who you get attacked by (more in MP)
Yesterday a big discussion on mapmode on Reddit

One map mode that I found really useful too was the continent map mode. It tells you where you can and where you cant trade company and that is very useful in early game to get new merchants. For example as ottomans if you want a merchant from crimea trade node, you have to focus only the provinces that are NOT in eastern europe since those cannot be put in trade companies (so give those to your crimea vassal). You might need to take a country like circassia for your trade company instead because it is on another continent than your trade capital.
Loving the content, you are my favourite eu4 youtuber. Keep 'em coming please! :)
Truce mapmode is very important if you are trying to manage coalitions
Simple Terrain is great for easily finding mountainous areas to put down Forts. So this ends up on the same node as the Forts map mode so i can move between them.
Instead of Trade Value I use Trade Goods, Development, and Trade Nodes modes to check the value of provinces.
It's not a map mode but something I think people neglect is the "strategic goods" screen in the ledger. It shows you who is the leading producer of each trade good and who is getting the trade bonuses. The trade bonuses are great but also being the leading producer of a good gives you +10% production of that good. The ledger tells you which goods you are close to gaining dominance on.
I could listen to you explain stuff for hours :3
Absolute habibi ft.alzaboHD finland asmr ?
Huh I didnt know simple terrain showed river crossings, thanks habibi!
When you play in HRE and wait for AE to go down, looking at random maps is most fun thing to do
i find supply limit useful when i played with sweden, muscovy and transoxiana cause of the winter , the desert and mountain terrains
Never used trade value to be honest. I used to go into trade mapmode and hover over the coins lol. This will save me so much time ty!
This was very helpful, thank you. I'll definitely be using these maps regularly
Trade value is the reason why I love play tall so I guess I play what we call a pro gamer move.
Good video, I didn't know the trade value one existed, thanks for the tips
I really enjoy the opinion map mode. I use it to see which countries dislike a country I’m trying to go to war with. I can try and base alliances on that.
This video needs a like and a subscribe. Good job!
Now probably I am gonna use them thx Habibi
I just recently discovered that in the state edict macro menu there is an option which shows you each trade company investment and marks the states where they can be built an where they already are on the map. It's a huge blessing.
Playing japan and getting every province green in trade value map mode is fun. With concentrate development and coal you can have 300+ trade value provices like Chikuzen and Tokachi, they turn bright light green with more value
I've been using simple terrain regularly for a long time
Only just found out it shows rivers

"What's the color of the sun?"
"It looks kinda like fars but also qing , maybe a little spain."
The joke is that habibi called the color red "burgundy color"
Burgundy is a color sir LOL
My good sir. Burgundy is a Colour. It's like a dark red.

Opinion map mode is also great, helps with coalitions.
Coalition map mode is also nice
@@BillLeBo I think everyone one uses coalition map mode tho,
If you can still use relations instead of truce map mode while managing coalitions, you're doing it wrong
Monument map mode where you can see where monuments are located very useful and... oh there not a map mode like that :c
There is now
Do you have a mod changing your borders ? i downloaded the map mod but its really flat and when i zoom out i cant even see the names of countries and borders are almost non existent. Great video btw, i didnt know about trade value map mode even existed.
I use all of those except for the trade map mode shown last. Now I know I could rp as the USA and wreck foreign country's economies for no reason.
Same lmao
Why forts also not on q?
and accepted cultures map mod also very important coz accepted culture = no debaf -33% manpower (like orthodox)
All fine and cool but flat terrain map has so similar colours i can't recognize plains and farmlands or some other
You should make a video on how to make peace deals
I need monument mapmodr
I don't see the trade value one as that big a deal, it just shows "Trade Value", that's basically just production income potential, the other half of it goes into the trade network, which you need "Trade Power" to obtain. Taking a high trade power node can raise your share of all "Trade Value" you can obtain for yourself within that trade node.
Your map for example, Aix is shown as dark red, that's a center of trade with a river, the potentially strongest trade power province in the Genoa trade node.
"Trade Value" refers to the value called "Trade Value" on the province view, it's not an evaluation of the potential value the province has for trade overall.
damn, were you inspired by the subreddit?
Some trolling is being dealt
Absolute gratitude for the name of the mod of thr map graphics. Agradecido I am
Before using state edits i should just start using them i think
your cat looks just like mine :)
Anyone can advise me on becoming Prussia/Germany/Russia/Mongol Empire with custom nations? What are the pre-requisites? Is it still possible just by having the right culture? do you need to be a monarchy? can you for example form Prussia as a steppe horde with germanic culture?
Whats the mod for those nice colors
Havnt you misinterpreted the trade value mapmode? Isn't it essentially the (goods produced*trade value) of the provinces not the trade power of the provinces. Gold mines can have trade power right? Just not trade value
What hot keys are you using to switch between map modes???
Top row is Q to y and bottom row is a to g

very good and informative video and thabk you for that! I am just wondering about the names of the Italian and French cities, it actually sounds like you're pronouncing them so badly on purpose xD
I am very bad at announcing things

How is Florence a theocracy?
Unique disaster they can get
You have to fire event with starting ruler and having less than 70 Republican tradition then you can become a theocracy through that disaster
monsoon mapmode or disliking video
Military access mapmode is missing from this list :3
trade value mapmode: taking somebodies trade value doesnt cripple there trade eco bc the trade money still goes to them if they have the trade power ofc trade value gives trade power but less usefull then trade centers also it shows anual ducats that go to trade so this can also be useful te see where to stear trade from or conquer for the highest value of trade ducats
i thought i had to clarify this as you mostly said it as local trade power
