I must say, while Esther looks a bit older, she still has that creep factor that she had back in 2009. The age jump from 12 to 25 is pretty big, but I have no doubt that Isabelle will be amazing in this prequel.
At this point in the story it doesn't matter at all that Esther looks older. No spoilers but the dynamic is not what it seems here.

I think it actually makes more sense since this was her first time conning a family, she wouldn't know how to adjust herself physically and mentally. By the time we see her in the original movie, she has mastered the tricks in the 'business' hence why she could look younger.

*Well, although the film looks suspicious, and has divided the critics, still, no one can say anything about the cast. Julia Stiles is a great actress, as is Isabelle Fuhrman too. So, watching the cast and seeing how Leena's story unfolds, even though it's no surprise that we don't already know from the first movie, it's still going to be worth it.*
The plot twist was so good.
For anybody who’s making assumptions about the plot: The mom and brother know her identity, This movie explains how she got the name Esther, which is the name of the moms actual daughter who is on a missing person poster and so Esther was trying to impersonate her. Everyone knows except the dad of course
Apparently the brother, Gunnar, killed the real Esther, and the mom covered it up. Who were we supposed to root for in this movie!?😂

- The mother finds out Esther is 31 very early on in the film and tells her, even helps her covering her female parts. But they don't like each other so the plan goes to shit and they start hitting on each other. None of the family members dies in the fire, and not all die by Esthers hands.
Those complaining about Esther looking older clearly haven’t seen the first movie otherwise they would understand why

Tbh, I feel like her looking older actually makes more sense in terms of realism. The hormone disorder that Esther has doesn't prevent her from aging, only from growing. So she should be the size of a 9 year old but have the face of an adult, which she does here.

No this movie explains how she ended up in the orphanage. I think they should make a movie on how she becomes a psychopath like having her first family that she kills and where she got that obsession of trying to get in the father’s pants.

Some scenes they had a body double for Isabelle Fuhrman to make her look shorter, and some actors were platform shoes to look taller than Isabelle Fuhrman.

That must be how she got her manipulation skills
She wasn’t as sophisticated at this time. It’s a prequel so it makes since that she’s making mistakes. She learned a lot from the situation and that’s why she’s so skilled at hiding and manipulating people in the first movie.
