    You saved my day - and a tiny post-soviet republic just starting to grow! 👍
    Having built some oil export, distribution centers, asphelt roads etc. in realistic mode i planned to get trucks off the road & oil & plant export onto rail.
    This is where i came to an unexpected stop: how do i get that railtrack building machine to my rail construction office with no tracks?
    Very helpful, lots of pro-tips, very much appreciated!

      I’m playing realistic mode Slovakia. I love it! My only complaint is the only water source is the Danube, so I have to build transnational sewage pipes.

    Fun fact: in the German translation of the game Realistic mode is still called the "banned" name, only spelled with a K (as you would in German)!

    I don't know if others find this helpful, but I have noticed that the construction office can build through the end station just as it would through any other station, but the builders cannot change sides (like the metro train does). You need to do any switch tracks above ground, and then connect a tunnel to each side of the underground end station. This way the rail co can access the underground metro network to build. Maybe this is obvious to others, but it took me a while to figure out.

    A workday is 8 hours, one worker works a workday in a day. From what I've seen it seems to apply to both foreign and local workers which would mean they have similar workspeed, but not 100% sure.

      Workday in a day makes sense...all the rest is relative, because time passes quicker and slower for many different reasons for different people.

    Trams seem like they are missing a lot.
    Main thing is 1-way track, as road. Also more variants like where you have 1 lane for trams and 1 for cars.

      If trams can drive on regular electrified train track, as implied by the tram-rail connection; then that could be a workaround.
      If the reverse also applies (regular trains on tram track), we must then resist the urge to run freight trains down Main Street 😁

      @@romanrat5613 I tested the mechanics. (Un)fortunately, only trams can drive on tram tracks; although the trams also have the option of driving on regular electrified rail and servicing regular train stations.

    I believe that metro and tram tracks do not have traffic lights b/c these tracks are directioned (like one-way roads) -- look at metro stations/end stations. Same type or "road connections" as in one-way gas stations. So metro trains will not bump each other and go backwards.

      True for tram, but not true for metro...afaik the metro station is directional, but not the track itself, plus you can place signals on all other metro rails besides tunnels.

    Fyi there are separate foreign worker pools for each border crossing and beyond the borders, so it may be worth it from a speed perspective to build an early HCO, buy Western helis, and use them to up the amount of foreign labor you have working to complete your initial build. An early Western heli fleet also gives the ability to use Western workers or use dollars to import high-value items like steel, chemicals, etc. Not sure if the fuel costs are worth it yet, but the fact it’s all free from a rubles perspective makes it an interesting option and gives a way to use the initial dollar investment on something useful.

    22:14 - It's the metro. Half of the point is that it can be ran without interfering with existing infrastructure by being built underground. "Short tunnels" aren't a solution.

      Yep, agreed. Apparently they can work in low numbers if you use a metro end station, but I don't think it's the same...

    my apologies for not being informed, but why is the "c"word/mode banned/controversial?
    Is it possible for you to explain to me what happened if your comfortable, otherwise if not via youtube you can explain to me via other means of communications. If you still don't want to talk about it, if it was THAT bad I'll understand, but if possible can you please then refer me to a place where I can lookup what happened without making you uncomfortable for explaining it? I geniunely don't know what happened and this video is the first time I've heard of this and the renaming to "Realistic" mode did confuse me at first, but I didn't really overthink it until you mentioned the name change.

    Nice video, but I have 2 questions. I have observed that after the introduction of water into the game, starting the game on hard is really difficult. Do you think they adjust the initial cash amount considering current and future introductions? The realistic mode for me is how the game should have been designed from the beginning. But considering that everything takes more time to build, do you think it would be appropriate to introduce the possibility of making a year last twice the current time in the game? I know that there is a way to alter the starting year, but I don´t know that it is possible to slow down the game time. I often find myself in the 80s without having built most of the structures that make a republic self-sufficient, let alone big industry.

      The main thing the different difficulty settings do is increase time and effort to do anything, the game itself really doesn't change much. I think the initial cash is fine, but you are free to adjust that to your playstyle...

      The old name was the soviet word for Astronaut. Someone had used the word in a guide on steam, and then the community ran with it and it became the defacto name for playing the game realistically. The guy who wrote the steam guide felt he deserved compensation for coming up with the name, so the devs can't use it in-game, and youtubers are getting copyright-trolled for having used the word heavily in their youtube content in the past.
      To be fair the word did have a certain brand power, I definitely looked for videos by searching the word. But someone needed to tell the guy if you wanted to make money from an idea, writing a public guide on steam is not the way to do it.

    the elevated metro station seems not to be compatible with idea of road passing below it. Small tram stop is something, that actually could be useful for buses also - small bus stop, that fits within road width entirely. Typically separated tram tracks wera (and are) used between one-way roads, but at the moment access can be challenging due to footpath lengths

      The elevated metro generally will have bridges connected, and those can go over roads...so it's a workaround

    I like the idea of the free buildings but I think the build limit is kind of silly. They should be limited due to being a literal field and not some arbitrary count limit. I like they look though, so while I'm not planning my new republic to be on realistic mode, I think I'll end up using some of them for remote construction offices and timber operations where they'll look really nice (and I don't actually need efficiency).
    In my last republic the nice bus stops looked out of place sitting in the middle of my timber forest.

    Is there a way to get the rail construction assignment button in the quick bar working? I do get the butten in the bar , but it only works if the rail construct office window is open as well :(

    Man I've been having trouble building my first above ground metro, maybe you can help me out a bit - the layout is, essentially one massive loop connected by a central station, effectively forming 3 loops: the outer track covering the entire circumference of the loop and two separated inner loops, like a rectangular figure 8. I know I need two end stations and have finally made a decent, compact layout, however once connected, the track builders won't go through the already-built end stations to build the track on the other side of the station, shouldn't they be able to pass through it like any other station? I've tried connecting them to the depot as well (which is also connected to the tracks on the opposite side of the same end station), but they still don't pass through. Do you know why that might be?

      End stations aren't actually stations, and track builders will never pass through them...to build the track you'll need to add a bypass.

    Is the Tram asphalt road basically a 4 laned road where trams run along side the edge and regular traffic can pass by or is it shared and traffic has to pass around trams?

      It's shared traffic, so trams get blocked by traffic a lot

    1. What about trolley buses, do I build a trolley bus road to the border, or can I bring them in on trucks?
    2. If I was on open beta branch, do I manually switch back now, or how does that work?

      1. Import via trucks 2. The game is always forward compatible, but never backwards, beta and release are on the same game version, so there shouldn't be a problem

    I was hoping to learn how to actually get wagons from the border after building rails and stuff (without exploits ;D) because I cant get them to the railway depot.
    I bought two wagons at the custom office, sent a Lok to get it (which I thought was the way it would work), but the Lok is just irritated on what to do there, while the wagons sit in the customs office showing an icon with a big double arrow pointing to the right.
    Also tried to get a wagon by using an open LKW like i did with the initial Gleisbauwagen, but the LKW cant access the railway depot.
    Any suggestions?

      Send the loco to pickup at the customs house, make sure it's set to load, but not wait until loaded, send it to the destination and unload.

    Can you do a tutorial on conveyor belts again. There's like 10 new towers/engine there, but there's no description what's the difference between them.. which is really annoying.

      Just a few variations. High or low input, high or low output, 3 to 1 or 1 to 3. A mix of those variables as separate buildings (use Q and E to toggle between them)

    I'm really looking forward to when you do another how-to video, but maybe you can do it in two parts, so you can do a 2023 video instead?
    Also, I had been playing on the experimental version for awhile, and I was really confused as to why I got free versions. Wouldn't it make sense if the free versions got blocked when 'not' playing in realism mode? Also, as a side note, I have no idea what the whole banned word thing is all about, but I think 'realistic' mode is a better word for it anyway. :shrug:

      They are not ready to be useful. The 2.5km range is tiny, only 1 person fitting in a car, and each car needing about 3 parking lots (living, working, fun) takes up a lot of space and the parking lots are tiny.

      @@bballjo cars and their infrastructure taking unreasonable amount of space is realistic, hope theyll keep it this way. But funcionality and range definitely should be upgraded, to have at least some reason to use them apart from loyalty

      @@hopin8krzys I find cars to be a good solution for places that have a very low employee count... like the asphalt plant. I think the max is 5 workers, but 1 worker gets it done. They accelerate faster than buses, and that time saved over time adds up.

      Yep, it's fun as an addition to create some more live in your city, and you can crank up the loyalty requirements, which is nice, but I wouldn't go past 100 cars for a city...and in comparison there single busses that can move more people than those 100 cars :)

    roads are fine, but you can't just add tram tracks on existing bridges!I learned the hard way. Does anyone know how it is with tram tracks and trolleybuses?

    Timestamps don't relate to video. Have more chapters on the end. Like you uploaded wrong file and listed them locally form another or smth.
    Strange why they limited mud parking to 5 instances. It's most useless of them all, so you'd expect it to be unlimited as storages. There is mod for free 1/2/3 spot parkings with just curb sunk in mud without colission, that fits everywhere nicely.
    Signals in tunnels/on bridges related to regular rail from what I understand. Metro was intended to work without them from the star. (And bump into each other, flip direction, bug out completly...)
    Endstations can fit trains to 450m, so as long as game allows? I asked such question and nobody answered yet. Building card shows "station lenght 50 something m" that looks like automaticly messured from endpoint.

      Signals...yep, bug out that metro. Lets dance back and fourth.
      Rail endstations (metro/train) seem to fit any length of train at this point, I think Tram endstations are the same...
      The length info is new, but I am pretty sure its entered information, not calculated, its been wrong for a few buildings before, but trains have that info now too, so that is nice :D

      Good to know, as keeping line spacing without it is frustrating. I have to stop trains every couple weeks to keep them separated.
      Station lenght is calculated I think. I fixed one modded dock that had wrong sign in one parking spot and it affected that number. Game just writes down lenght of first defined spot, so for rail infrastructure it's probably just first pass through track on top.

      Luckily a lot of the complexity can be turned on and off at will, but I agree. For example I feel water/sewage was a bad implementation to the game at this point, it added an isolated mini game to the whole game, but if you turn it off you are really not missing anything important...I'd like to see better integrations with the added features.

      It's a bit harsh that I don't want to be sued or have anymore bs claims on my CZcams account and eventually lose the CZcams account for the same reason? I don't think that's harsh at all, it's barely sufficient. What's harsh is that the system allows for that type of BS
