There’s actually a video where someone modified the Playmates figure to fix the sculpt and repaint it, and it looks great, so if you’re into custom figures that could be another reason to get the playmates version
I dont trust myself enough to actually cut up and put the head back together. But after I bought the playmates figure while I was a little intoxicated and sobered up. I just out a little jbweld in his mouth to close it and just doing that alone helped it alot. Still has terrible posture though.
Honestly this episode was a great one to explain that figure fight doesn't necessarily judge which figure is better, but only which one does more specific individual things better. Plus it gave me a good laugh reacting at both the video and live chat. Great episode all around really
@@BRproductions6173 in a sense, yeah, though this episode points out that the series' structure allows for funny conclusions from time to time. playmates won when i think its fair to assume that most people would point to the bandai vinyl as a 'better' figure. the thing about looking at each category individually and ranking which one wins the most points is that it leaves out the fact that sometimes, one category (in this case, the sculpt) can have a lot more weight than the others. its just a quirk of the format.
There's a great tutorial showing how to make it look film accurate without any additional material aside from a tiny bit of clay for the neck, if done right, I'd say its damn near better then the official bandai and the twcare bootleg figure, which are the best vinyls imo

Just To say that playmates actually steals Bandai figures if you buy a Play mates godzilla 2000 and a Bandai godzilla 2000 And look at the feet on the playmates one it says playmates but it actually says Bandai because they stamped the word playmates on the figure but for the bandai figure it says Bandai buy Those to figures and look at the feet and you will see what I mean
Sad to think that NECA got stripped from their Godzilla license for now and now we’re stuck with ridiculously expensive SHMA, Bandai Vinyl, or some random company that wants half-ass their figures. Yes, there are other options, but these are the ones most commonly found.
Hey steven, I can't decide what to get between the Reissues of the SHMA Gojira/1954 and SHMA Kiryugoji, which one would you prefer? Btw: I don't care about the prices, but both is too much
@Peta Parka yeah, but most of that is quality control, plus I don't really have an issue of posing since I make stop motion. I mean like articulation, height ect. And I haven't heard any reviewers say that the 02 looks derpy....
@@godziller9976 it does look derpy. The arms are terrible. Rather than the standard arm hinge they cheeped out and gave him small ball joints that don't bend all the way and pop of easy. And then there's the stupid neck which looks too long compared to the suit and the crappy jaw which looks crooked.

I think this review has highlighted a major problem with these figure fights: it doesn't account for certain categories being MORE important than others. Which is an issue I have always had with these videos. The playmates figure may objectively be better with articulation and price, but the fact that the sculpt is so bad is probably a lot more important than that. It just goes to show that looking at things totally objectively isn't very good for reviews. I think this might be a good time to rethink the rules for these fights.
This is the video that made people realizd figure fight is kind of unbalanced sometimes? This is a realization I had on day one of this series. This is not to criticize it, but one of the limitations of figure fight is how it's (mostly) unbiased.
