    Kobo seems to be the clear winner here. The fact that it's cheaper is just extra awesome :)

    seriously? no definition shows up because you have chosen the dictionary FROM portuguese TO ENGLISH, without is an English word so it doesn't really make sense

  • @HealyHQ
    @HealyHQ Před 9 lety +3

    @ 7:53 - the reason you're getting that error is because those are [L2] -> [L1] dictionaries. For example, you chose Spanish to English the first time. The word you highlighted wasn't Spanish, it was already English, hence, no definition found in the Spanish dictionary. ;)

    They H2o has only 35dpi less than the Kindle so...I very much doubt there will be such a huge difference if at all plus Kobo has a huge amount of customisation for your reading style that Kindle just doesn't have on their readers.

    Please, can you tell me which of both devices has a better lightning? I mean, which has less dark particles/spotlights/shadows etc in the bottom/top/corners? For me it's the most important thing. Thanks

    Contrary to The eBookReader's statement, one can change the fonts on the Aura HD, the thickness/boldness of the letters, and a few other text related parameters. A change to a serif font like the Aura font 'Georgia' might have made the comparison easier.

    Hi, I think you can also take notes on the Kobo Aura H2O……not completely sure but there was a video that explained it. As I say not totally sure because I didn’t watch the video til the end.

    I have three questions:
    1 - Availability of titles: Is it possible to read Kindle books on a Kobo and vice-versa. If there are no work-arounds to covert. Which has the largest (and best) library?
    2 - Which of these two models can you handle with one hand (hold and page-flip)?
    3 - The Kobo seems larger and heavier. Is it still small enough to put in a large pocket (in a jacket of cargo-pants)?
    Thanks for the feedback, in advance! (I will use the e-reader during traveling)

    Would really like to see a comparison between the kobo aura (not h2o or hd) and the voyage as they seem to have a lot of things in common (flush screen and 6" size" first and foremost)

    good review but seemed to finish it at the end. I have the basic kindle two models ago i like it. I might buy the voyage once the price comes down and all the bugs are worked out.

    Great comparison and review guys! I'm looking at buying my first ebook reader in a couple weeks and am very undecided between The Voyage and Aura HD. There are features I like and dislike about both so it's still a tough choice. However, I'm leaning more towards the Kindle because after comparing the UK stores (UK is where I live) the Kindle store offers the books cheaper than what the Kobo store does. Can anyone who's used either one of these ebook reader or both extensively give me some advice on which one I should choose? Great comparison and review though.

      Consider the Paperwhite. I imagine the page turn buttons on the Voyage would get in the way more than they help. A huge argument for non-kindle ebook readers is the ability to lend from public libraries. You can convert the files you get from libraries to mobi, but it's probably illegal.

    • @mattwelman4702
      @mattwelman4702 Před 9 lety

      IsawUupThere Hey thanks for the reply. I will definitely consider the Paperwhite as it is much cheaper than the voyage and is very similar in features. I'm not really interested in side-loading or getting books from libraries so I think I'll most likely go with the Kindle. Thanks for your help.

    Is there a 8 to 9 inch ereader, NOT the kindle DX or the expensive 13 inch Sony, that are good for pdfs?

      but thank you. Obviously I am still a Kindle type of girl. After I lost! my Kindle 4, I bought Paperwhite because they don't ship Voyage to me. But I need pagepress buttons. I do.

    Dear The eBook Reader! Could you tell me, wich one of these two e-readers can tell the estimated "time left in book" in case of side loaded books? Thanks!

    • @CRogers
      @CRogers Před 9 lety +1

      Kobo does that. And moreover it shows you your average reading speed when you get to the end of the document/book. So you can see if you've improved. This is a feature I really like.

      Also a feature I love on Kobo because it's a great conversation starter, is that it shows the cover of the book you are reading when the device is in sleep mode. It acts more like a real book in this way. As you can see from the photo I just took, it also shows you percentage read, and estimated time to finish as well: www.whitecatgraphics.com/kobo/kobo-sleep.jpg

    I plan on trading in my trusty dusty kindle 3 for about 43 bucks. The questionbis wouldbit be best to use tahat money towards the voyage or the paperwhit two and wait on a mirasol display. I can afford the voyage but is it worth 200? An text to speech wont be an issue for me. After all im only really upgrading fir a frontlit ereader because I always read at night. So what would anyone recommend I do?

    • @west
      @west Před 9 lety +1

      I have a Paperwhite and honestly while the Voyage has some nice additional features, I don't think it is worth the extra money. $200 is a lot for an ereader that is marginally better than the $120 one.

    will i be able to translate any word by clicking on it , (on the kobo H2O) , even if i am not connected to the internet ? english is not my first language

      +Maitham AlTammar The dictionaries work offline but the translations don't work very well. Half the time it just says "No definition found", even for simple words.

      @TheeBookReader  Před 8 lety

      +Maitham AlTammar It's works better, yeah, but I don't know about translation dictionaries. There are some in the Kindle store but I don't have any experience with them to know how well they work. +The eBook Reader Sorry, turns out I was translating the opposite way. To English instead of from English (it's not as obvious as it could be). You have to download the other translation dictionaries from settings, in which case they do work well.

    Of course you won't find "without" in the French - English dictionary. It's not a French word ...
