This is probably one of the most thorough & detailed reviews I've come across on the M9, really appreciate the attention to detail. Everything, down to the b-roll provides helpful information, and I'm left with a confident feeling about picking up one of these soon.
I want to pick one up too if you have gotten it by any chance can you share your experience with the stand because that is the main thing that is keeping me away from this monitor
@@nighthowler41 Hi friend, in my opinion stands are usually last-priority when it comes to picking a monitor. I always use an arm-mount with my monitors, I find they look much cleaner & provide more desk space. If you're interested in the M9, (or any monitor) I would suggest not letting the stand factor into your decision. Hope this helps!
@@Loganimation_ thanks bro
I don't get it why some people hate 4K resolution on 27" monitors? It looks crystal clear and you're able to see everything perfectly fine like in more competetive games.
I don't hate then, but my wallet hates them. 4k 144hz monitors are expensive, and hardwares that can fully utilize the monitor are also expensive.
@@yaoxu8490 If you think like that, then you wouldn't like 32'' 4K monitors any better. The price usually increase when you go for an increased size.
@@Shadowsmoke11 Probably I misunderstood your focus. I was focusing on "4k" instead of 27 inches. I use a 2k 144hz 27 inches monitor as a compromise of all aspects.
@@yaoxu8490 I think the expensive thing actually goes back to the hardware to operate the 4k monitor, why? because we need a cpu with high specs to avoid bottlenecks and it's more expensive, whereas for ps, the price of ps is high because supply and demand is not balanced
Biggest PoS monitor I have ever purchased
Thanks for this amazing video! What would be your ultimate 27" monitor atm? I want to buy something that is best money can buy below 1500.
I would a LG C2 42 or any 42 oled hammer any other monitor no matter what?
So would you recommend this or the Asus TUF VG28 for ps5?
I been having the 27gp950 for over a year would upgrading matter to this new monitor ?
Great review man very useful and informative.
What would u guys reccomend the mate view from huawei or the lg 32 ultra fine ergo Ips display
Can I ask where did you get your desk from & how much ?
Is it possible to use a VESA mount with it?
I think Ultrawide IPS was a great solution last couple years and can still hold a candle for a couple more while we wait for the situation to stabilize. I don't think it's wise to buy a 4K 32'' right now as there is so much progress in this space and things are moving fast.
I won't mind spending 1500 dollars on an "endgame" monitor but as it stands there are too many compromises to be made and too many competing technologies ramping up, you're better served getting a decent 34 Ultrawide or an older OLED (C1 on sale) and wait things out for a bit.
Ultrawide for PS5?
Thanks I was about to buy it, changed my mind.
What case did you build your computer in
Is the monitor VESA mount compatible? 100 x 100?
This might be a really dumb question and I'm sorry in advance. I'm trying to make things multifunctional so I don't have to buy a monitor for this and a monitor for that. So, while this works for a ps5 can I also plug in my MacBook and use it as an external monitor?
Does that Type-C has power-delivery? Can you have a quick check please?
What’s the best quality monitor for PS5 regardless of the price ?
If Compare with ASUS TUF VG28UQL1A can it be slighty same INZONE M9 ?
what other gaming monitor has type C connection for laptops?
Hope they make a 32 inch version of this.
For anyone who has the monitor. What’s the colours like. I play both story games and online games. So is it suitable for both. I like my offline games to look good. Thanks.
I wanted buy lg 27gp950. Is there huge difference in picture quality?
Had it delivered today, love it
Hey I’m thinking of buying it today!! I was wondering how are the beautiful graphics?? Is it ultra sharp? With good ppi? Is HDR good on it ? Is it bright?
I found one for $719… Is it worth the money at that price? I’m on the fence… I have a VESA arm mount for it so anything about the stand im kinda disregarding and focused specifically on the specs.. Will be using with a PC via usbc and PS5
Can this be daisy chained, so you can use two of them for games like Flight sim?
how does this compare to the samsung neo g8?
with Odyssey Neo G8 who the best ?
Hello! Does the inzone m9 display 2160??
About time Sony made a respectable monitor! Great review Tom 🤝 I’m looking to pick this up but I agree there are definitely more other options that are cheaper with higher refresh rates as well. But overall a very clean looking monitor.

M9 by far
Has anyone had an issue with the m9 "scanning for signal" when they launch a game on their ps5? My screen goes black for like 3 seconds smh and it happened a couple times when i was playing warzone
How does it compare to LG C2 42 inch?
Is the monitor wall mountable?
Cool setup 👍
What’s the input lag on ps4 pro?
I mid video you switch the sides of the ps5 and Xbox! Also where is your Nintendo Switch?
Does it compare to the gigabyte m28u
Is this better then the LG Ultra 950 ?
Can someone tell me why my m9 shows 60hz only, and where do i adjust it to. 144??
I may have missed it, but all the reviews seem to make no mention of USB-C power delivery? I take it there is none?
I have an issue with this monitor, when I start a game, the screen goes black and it says scanning for signals, for about 5 seconds. No big deal. But then when im in the game sometimes it will go black randomly and the colors will drop drastically does anyone else have this same issue???
Yea we copping this jawn
I think I'm getting this. My monitor just started to have what I call " ink blotting" (I'm not sure of it's actual name). It looks like someone took an ink dropper, and dropped a few blots a few inches down from the top right, and about an inch in. I looked it up and I guess it's when some of the liquid gets between the panel screen and the back lighting....(?) It's fine when I'm not gaming, but it's so noticeable when I am. And really annoying. I waited for months for them to release the 1440p update so I could make use of my Dell S2716DGR with my PS5. It was great with my PC but with my PS5, it only went to 1080p.... so I waited until the update to really get into it (I've been playing PC and XBSX) but the FIRST DAY they did the update, my monitor took this dump on me. I mean, It's still usable and isn't terrible. It will make for a nice side monitor. But for a main gaming monitor, it's time to upgrade. I have an RTX 2080 and a AIO water-cooled 8700k cpu.... So I think I should get a new monitor. And the Sony M9 seems really nice. And it has the cool white back but it's black bezel up front makes it look sick. I dig the lighting on the back too.... I want one. I just hope there isn't going to be a lot of light bleed that tends to happen with IPS monitors. I was going to get a Predator before I got this Dell but I bought one 4 times, and every time they had tons of light bleed. And IPS light bleeding tends to be yellowish instead of white so it's a lot more noticeable. Hopefully, they don't have that issue or it's not bad.... or I get one that doesn't have it. I don't want to send monitors back multiple times again.
Not sure why Sony wouldn't offer both a 27 inch and 32 inch option with the otherwise same design and specs. 27 is slightly too small for my eyes.
In my experience, if you want to watch movies like on tv or play a playstation, then 27 inches will look small because you need a bit of distance but if you play PC games like competitive fps, for example, csgo and the like, it will make your eyes minus quickly because you usually play at a distance of 50-70cm especially if the screen is large and has a high Hz, the eyes will get tired quickly because the eyes compensate for the Hz and bright colors from the screen, not to mention if you activate the low blur feature, yes, even though there is a low blue light feature, it's still not significant
Purchased this monitor when it was released and am using it with my PS5 and M1 MacBook Pro. So far I’m loving it except for some parts of the HDR. I say some parts because when watching movies and gaming in HDR, I notice the local dimming (when set to high) causing the image to exhibit haloing that looks different from what I’ve seen in other Sony LED backlight displays. This only happens in a pitch black room with no bias lighting but it’s actually kinda distracting. To the point where I feel like turning local dimming to low is a better option with HDR content. I find it’s most noticeable with contrasty HDR movie scenes but when you know what to look for it’s noticeable with pretty much all HDR content. You get haloing in the form of squiggly white lines that move around frame depending where highlighted objects/subjects are in the frame. Not sure if it’s just my panel but given that the monitor has none of the screen defects people have been posting online about, I want to say I have a solid panel. Just wondering if anyone can add to this discussion. I love this monitor and if this is a normal backlight consequence on a 27 inch screen, I’m willing to put up with it. But if it’s a defect, then I feel like I should swap it out while the return window is still good. Thanks all 🤘🏼
mine doesn't have this issue
@T Septer my personal experience. i use with mac and PlayStation. its wonderful. I don't know why you said compatibility is bad
Does the USB C provide any power? Looking at this for my workstation/ gaming and need something that would provide power via my macbook's USBC port
HDR is an OLED feature. LCD tries its best but it’s not the same
The headset throw that out and replace it with the Corsair HS80 that right now are £90 for black and £130 for white comes with spacial sound for PC and if your worried about surround sound for the PS5 audio engine will recognise it anyway
Am gonna stick with the C1
I really wish this was 32" or that they release one that is. We need more FALD monitors for under $1k.
Unless QD OLED grabs the cake.
Gigabyte has 32 inch 4k 144 hz monitor for 800.

Love the content, but I think you can also review best budget gaming monitors.
2 Questions
1. If I am using headphones like the pulse 3d for my gaming and films etc does the speakers being bad really matter
2. Does being further back affect the image quality for ever now it seems lcd and monitors have this problem where if you are further back from the screen the image is sharper mailing playing at a desk a bad idea.
The first question makes no sense, If you’re using headphones, why would the speaker quality matter? They won’t even be on.
@@KmartKingpin because like the sound from the tv comes through the headphones right ? Better sound from the tv better kind from th gap gone right ?
@@ipoulter9765 no the sound quality is going to be related to the quality and connectivity of your headphones. If you’re using a USB or 3.5 for your headphones, it’ll most likely sound better than a Bluetooth, but no matter what it’ll sound better than your speakers. The headphones you chose are going to define the audio quality. You could have a device with no speakers at all, but still use headphones.
@@KmartKingpin thanks man I’m new to headphones and stuff so you get the confusion I’m going with Sony ps5 pulse 3D ones good price and I’ve heard good things and match my set up
@@ipoulter9765 yeah I’m not a master on audio by any means, but I do have a lot of experience on headphones. I haven’t personally used the 3D but I heard they are a solid pair of headphones! Should I just keep my samsung odyssey g70a
Great review! Thing is I am repelled by modern day monitors they are all defective! Take a TV! You want OLED? Then live with Burn In! Oh right we fixed it now it dims by itself! You want QLED? Live with the Blooming! Gaming monitors! IPS, Backlight Bleed (I RMA'd 4 laptops last summer), this one has HDR but not HDMI 2.1, this one has a crappy dimmer etc! I even read about the M32U which is considered one of the best that it doesn't exploit the full potential of PS5'S HDMI 2.1! Come on, back in the day it wasn't that complicated and with this kind of cash you would get literally impeccable monitors!
I have a vizio tv still so this is going to be a huge upgrade, it makes sense for me unlike other nerds with their alien hardware and lg monitors lol
Hi, I recently purchased this and I can’t get the screen or ps5 for that matter to go above 60hz, I’ve tried a number of games and I’ve turned on the setting to track what hz is showing and every time its 60 and doesn’t go any higher, Any advice or tips would be appreciated thank you
I would say make sure your hdmi is compatible with hdmi 2.1 or you probably just plugged in the wrong hdmi port. 🤷♂️
Only a few games are 120… make sure you’re playing those games, also change mode to performance mode in ps5 settings
wait wehre is your LG 42 inch OLED :() ?
Saving 💰 to get one for myself.
Not supporting dolby vision gaming is a deal breaker for me. The picture quality on a TV with a series X and dolby vision is sublime, much more realistic.
Looks very similar in spec to the Gigabyte M32 only its smaller and more expensive?
What? the M32 is way worse than this

What an obscene gesture at 9:59, Tom!
I think the size and tech is a miss, would have liked them to make it 32” with mini LEDs for the price of around $1200. Would have lived up to the PlayStation name more.
Yep - agreed!
Totally agree. I just upgraded from a 27” 1440P gaming monitor to a 32” 4K display. The extra size really makes the extra resolution worth it. Gaming on a larger display is just so much more immersive. For the price, this display should be 32.”

Strange complaints? Topped it off with speakers🤔
It's too much money for 27" and like you said there are other options that also have these specs plus 1000 nits peak brightness. I was interested in this monitor but the price just doesn't work for me. I'm already using an LG C1 and various other monitors, just wanted a monitor specifically for ps5. Guess I'll have to keep looking.
I like how you guys complain about the price only because its "Sony". So many worse monitors came out at this price point and nobody complained about the price like they do with this
That cord sticking out the bottom front leg is horrible🥲
He has it backwards. Mine doesn’t stick out that way, it’s designed to hide the cord.
@@Bnelly90 ahhh I see
After using a 32" LG (non-gaming monitor), it's tough to go back to anything less than that. I'm patiently waiting for Asus to bring out their ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ.
Go alienware qd-oled 34 inch the only monitor worth its money and picture quality is true another lvl. Only monitor no1 should ever regreat buying.
Don't forget burn-in. When it comes to OLED or QD-OLED, that will be always be a concern. Yeah, they will tell you they've solved that problem, but reality tells us otherwise.
@@Im_too_old_for_this_shit oleds nowadays are advanced to the point you dont need to worry about burn in for at at least few years. Qd-oled probably at all
@@sebastianm3505 I've returned that one. Loved the picture quality, but also some things not to like. I didn't like the ultrawide aspect ratio. During daytime (90% of my time) the black ain't black caused by the anti-glare coating. Still quite dim (only 250 nits full screen). Less colours then my current IPS. Only 100hz on HDMI (got 2 systems connected) and low PPI. An audible fan! Text clarity due to pixel layout actually was quite acceptabel, but probably even better at 32"4k PPI of ~140 vs the AW34 ~110.
Apart from all this my AW QD-Oled also suffered from flashes a few times per minute. Even visible in self-diagnostic mode (without devices attached), so was suprised it got through QA. So was going to send it back as a faulty device anyway, but didn't want a new one.
I prefer 4k 16:9. I tried the LG 42"OLED but the automatic brightness limiter was very annoying. Also pink coating. Low PPI and still a tad to large. I've got the MSI MPG321UR-QD now. Waiting for a 27/32" 4k QD-OLED with HDMI2.1 and no fan. Would really love to step up to OLED, but current models are just not it yet for me.
@@shaflic must have been unlucky with the model. For gaming there is no better picture quality monitor
Now is the time to buy, I paid US $725.00 door to door. Great monitor
Should have been more zones, 96 is not enough, and size at least 32 inch, 27 is too small.
Nice monitor, but who is gonna pay more for the screen than for the entire PS5?
the panel is great, the stand is awkward and inconvenient . Dell stands have much better adjustment range
Why No 32“ ?
Hdr is still lacking. Glad we have more options now. Monitors are just so far behind now (and it has been that way for years).
I really like fact its 27 inch 4k
Tom, I have a question that my friends can’t help me with. My consoles are hooked up to a LG CX, but I seem to be the only person to notice the ”stutter” in game mode. Amazing low input lag though. Will a monitor like this be a better solution for me, you think? 🙂
The stutter comes from the instantaneous pixel response time inherent to OLED displays. Pixel response time is the amount of time it takes for a pixel to change from one color to another. This is entirely different from input response time which is how long something takes to appear on screen. LCD LED displays have much longer pixel response times, which means they transition from one color to the next over a period of several frames. This leads to a subtle blur or ghosting, which we perceive as smoothness. On the contrary, OLED being instantaneous appears to us a stutter. This is because colors transition from one frame to another without any ghosting or blur. That’s why you need to play at a minimum of 60 fps on an OLED display, or to turn on motion smoothing settings to minimize the stutter.
@@edgarcmtz Thank you for answering. The difficulty in choosing my next tv/monitor remains though… Maybe I will be more happy with an high end pc monitor, when it comes to the perceived ”stutter” I see? Like this screen or an LG GP950? The pc monitors have low input lag but without any ”game mode”, right?
Bit small isn't it? Like all I can think about looking at it is wishing it was a few inches bigger :/

Unfortunately, higher tier monitors are expensive. Also, most people want a 27-32 inch monitor, so 42 inch LG OLED isn’t an option.

Sony can't keep up with that
I've never had to factory reset a monitor till this one. If I didn't get it for free for my review, I'd throw it away!
I even think 32 inch is too small to fully see the benefit of 4K. I’d say 55 inch is a sweet spot. On a monitor games look pretty crisp on a 1080p set up even because the screen sizes are so small.
I'll wait for it to go on sale for like $200 off :)

Why choose a monitor over a TV?
Think it's pretty sweet, but I feel like the GP950 still takes the cake. Although the KVM here is pretty useful, especially for multi setup folks like me
agree. i love my GP950 so much.
I wonder how this compares to my Acer Predator X27. If it's close enough I'd probably consider migrating to this InZone M9 for that KVM feature alone.
Why do you think that? Does this one not have way higher nits and better dimming?
This beats the GP950 in every single way
@@mastixencounter That is what I thought. It is probably the monitor onder €1000
For the price, I’d like to see a larger panel and more local dimming zones. HDR 600 really isn’t great, especially when you have fewer than 100 dimming zones.
I think the unfortunate reality is, we're not going to have worthwhile HDR on screens this size until we get smaller OLED's. Very tempted myself by the 42 inch but having previously had the 48 inch C1 - it was too much for everything other than games!! Holding steadfast for a 32 inch OLED :)
Yeah. 4K really makes more sense at 32” for a gaming oriented monitor.
