My man lookin all slimmed up in that crew neck, congrats brotha✊🏽
Down allllmost 20lbs in less than 2 months - feels amazing 💪🏼
One of the most genuine, easily understandable, and informative presenters in CZcams tech. All success you receive is completely deserved, friend 👍
Please don’t stop what you do and how you do it
Thanks so much!
Excellent review sir! Had no idea this was slated for release so soon. Love to see these higher-end (pricey) monitors starting to be competitive and shake things up a bit in favor of the consumer.
Monitors should definitely come with cables especially with HDMI protocols being an absolute pain the butt right now. I doubt the general consumers would know to get a specific HDMI 2.1 compatible cable to truly get the benefit of 144hz via HDMI.
Great review ! Hope we we'll get more gaming monitors reviews from you. Big up from France !
again man i havent even thought about monitors in a while and your reviews just got me intrigued every time
I plan on going 4k in the future, I like that sony is starting to become competitive with any other monitor brand. That monitor is a beast and hopefully in the next year or so ill be able to use one. But for now, ill stick to my LG 1440p monitor.
Another banger of a review amazing video, stay up.
Thanks for the great review! I just preordered the Inzone M9 the other day, to pair with my 34" Ultrawide monitor as a 2nd productivity (on PC) and PS5 monitor. The TVs in my house are both 1080p so this'll be my first introduction to real HDR and I'm excited.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. If you’re used to 1080p non-HDR, I think you’re gonna be blown away
Dude, love this review, stoked about everything you put out there.
Thanks so much brother! Feels good to be all set up and back in the zone
Thanks for the heads-up! You just saved me $250 on my LG GP950 because it was still in the return window.
might be biased because you live so close to me now but...your content is so top tier. incredible as always!
I love your huge smile when saying "if you need to make a case for your PC" LOL 11:00
Picked one up yesterday! The Best Buys near me had a few
For sure looking to get one of these to pair with my 1440p 270hz Asus XG27AQM. I disagree with the 32" evangelists too, 4k at 27" is a stellar experience for content at least. I'm also glad that monitors are *finally* adding more backlight dimming zones. Only took them like 10 years. The only thing that can woo me off now is a 27" 4k qd-oled. Hopefully that doesn't take 10 years too.
Waiting for a smaller size OLED as well. A 27 or 32" OLED INCLUDING USB Type-C and not advertised as "gaming TV" would be great. Hope that happens soon. Tired of seeing TV's being used as monitors.
Any game on any card will run at significantly higher graphic settings and/or frames at 1440p, which at 27" makes a much bigger difference than the difference between 1440p and 4k resolution. 4k on smaller monitors will start make more sense as silicone dies keep shrinking, upscaling technologies improve and running 4k stops requiring insane amounts of GPU horsepower, but at the moment IMHO 1440p is still way better for 27" and below PC gaming.
Also OLED monitors are a dumb idea. Unlike with TVs, static images are part and parcel of computing. So unless you are just going to use it exclusively for gaming, burn in is pretty much unavoidable. Micro-LEDs would be the technology to root for with PC monitors.
@@JimIBobIJones Yeah OLED monitors are such a dumb idea that Alienware, Samsung, Asus, & now LG are all manufacturing them. You must know something they don't lol
@@Dev-hv4pt Burn in is still a massive issue... Look up all the early adopter complaining on youtube. Virtually every youtuber who initially praised OLED monitors have published a follow-up complaining of burn-in.
The hype makes it profitable, but the life-time of OLED monitors are incredibly low if you use it for productivity.
It is something manufacturers can improve to a certain degree but burn-in is an inherent flaw with the technology itself.
@@Dev-hv4pt Also "everyone is doing it" is such a brain-dead argument.
Plasma TVs were overhyped and became the "next big thing" for a while, but that also had horrible, horrible burn-in problems that ultimately killed the technology off entirely.
Just because its being done doesn't mean its not a bad idea...
Good review but should be noted LG also recently released their follow up monitors to the GP line just before the Sony announcement. See the 32GQ950 and 32GQ850. Not that Sony’s M9 isn’t making waves, but the recent monitor drops understandably could contribute to the older gen price drop. Both new ones are still edge-lit but jump to 32 zones(950 model at least) and that one has 1000 nit peak brightness. Still both already have price drops since launching in June, which very much could be a response to Sony. Both felt they launched too pricey already…
i used a 32” 4k monitor recently and i was heartbroken. I was hoping to use it at 100% scaling because I genuinely needed more screen real estate for all my work apps on one screen along with fancyzones but it was unusable for me.
If i increased the scaling then it defeated the purpose of the upgrade from my 3440z1440 uw. I decided to put my 4k upgrade on hold for now.
11:00 I’ve said it before and I’m gonna say it again, SMOOTH.
Yep I noticed the gigabyte's M28U dropped in price few days ago down to $499. Which is awesome I will totally be upgrading to that screen for 4k gaming later this year. :)
it's been dropping because it has fake hdmi 2.1, look it up on youtube
I'm looking forward to the Cooler master GP27-FQS which is supposed to be mini-led with 500+ zone but I'm not sure when it's actually coming to market since it was announced ages ago.
0:50 I'm not saying this is the perfect height, but the best ergonomic position for a monitor is where you the top of your monitor meets or is just below your eye level.
The main takeaway from this video is that as a whole we need to move away from edge lit anything. Monitor tech won't improve in the lower end until we stopped doing this archaic crap from the beginning of LCD
Glad to see Sony stepping into the gaming monitor space. Super interesting that you can use software to change the settings on the monitor instead of physical controls. Very solid piece of gear, great review B 🔥
Nice vid
M9 was on sale for $500 on Amazon. Snatched it and applied some gift cards to lower it to $250. Now I need to wait for it ship. 😅
I think one of the silent wins this monitor will have for most of its buyers is the media consumption. For all those people who watch Netflix, HBO, etc or even plex stream movies to their gaming setup this monitor is gonna be leagues ahead of the competition
For me 27 inches is the perfect size, its literally personal preference
Question for the reviewer. Given the fact that one of the main differences between this and the competing LG model (aside from FALD backlight) is a lack of the Quantum Dot layer (LG calls is NanoCell, but whatever), did you felt at any that moment Sony has somewhat less rich and vibrant colors than the LG?
Nice to see you covering this new line-up from SONY, I'm eyeing this one or the 1080p version w/ 240Hz. Also love seeing SONY come out swinging into the gaming space w/ accessories outside of their usual.
Also side note - hope all is well up in MA with you and the family.
Ayyy, great to see you in the comments James!
I have a question regarding VRR. These new 120hz modes with VRR on PlayStation 5. Does that require a 120hz screen or can it also work on a 144hz monitor with hdmi 2.1?
The Municipal crew looks better on you than it does on Marky Mark Wahlberg! Great video!
It’s so weird how future generations want bigger monitor sizes, I remember 1080p at 22 inch was the perfect size
Thank you
At this point I don't think I could reduce size from 32in to 27in. I just love the 32in so much.
27" 4k is perfectly fine. Been running this for years.
Would you say this it with it to upgrade for a ps5 that’s currently on like a 42 in regular tv?
GOTTA give credit to Sony for not giving this monitor a confusing name compared to other competing brands
I can’t wait until hardware can easily push 4K @ 240Hz. Gonna be a great day for gaming.
You covered all the bases. HDR still not good with FALD, and my c9 OLED has delivered for 8000 hours flawlessly. M28U or M32U.
Where do you get these sick live wallpapers? Desktop color schemes just like mine but I'm living in yesteryear with static images.
wallpaper engine on steam
Just a question…when I play at 120fps on the ps5 with this monitor …. My graphics turn a little blurry and can’t see as far in game… how come ?
How does this monitor compare to Odyssey g70a 28 inch 4k from Samsung?
This ain'nt beating it!
I bought an LG 3440 x 1440 (160 htz) ultra wide after coming from a 4k 60 htz. I had planned on going back to 4k after the 40 series gpu's come out but I now I like the ultra wide and don't think I can go back to 16:9.
I feel you I got the od-oled 34 inch and I feel the same. I'll never go back to 16:9 the immersion factor on ultrawide is to good.
What’s your recommendation for the best 1080p monitor for FPS gaming? Thanks.
Zowie XL2546K ez
@@badseedtech Have you tried the ViewSonic XG2431? I think it might have dethroned the XL2546K as the must buy if you don't already own a high end 240hz monitor! As a competitive gamer, I find the motion clarity on this panel with PureXP enabled is miles better than any other panel on the market, they worked with Blur Busters to get it dialed in just right and it's perfect IMO. (Check out Optimum Tech's review on it too!)
could you make a video about some of the best cheaper 144hz and 240hz monitors
Does anyone have the link for the background at 2:34?
I don't want to see RGB on the back of any more monitors!! It makes absolutely no sense and I don't understand why every gaming company seems to keep copying the same poor decisions.
If it is bright enough it acts as ambient light and can reduce eyestrain so idk
Because cool rgb gamer
i mean who cares? You can usually turn it off and he said on this one its not bright enough to notice anyway. People love to complain just to complain..
@@StfuSiriusly Noooo, it also adds an unnecessary cost to the price of the monitor and is always considered a "feature" that adds nothing if it can't even be used as ambient lighting.
If it worked like Philips Ambilight I wouldn't mind at all.
do you have any plans to review the LG C1? id love to know your opinion on using that as a pc monitor.
No plans to review it but I use a CX as my daily on my main desk - and its never coming off until it dies if that tells you anything
@@badseedtech that's all I needed to hear. Thanks for the reply dude! Love the channel!
Interesting that it uses gsync, when the PS5 is an AMD powered console. Looks like a cute monitor though, looking forward to seeing more from Sony
Getting this one
Hope hdr does disappoint
How's this monitor for visual work? I feel like the GP950 might be better for me, but the price still hasn't really come down in Canada
Probably wouldn’t be my pick for that. Would definitely have to be calibrated for sure and it may be a little limited in Adobe RGB specifically
@@badseedtech Thank you king! 👑
Not a fan of the default stand, but other than that it would probably fit in my white-black setup.
If you not committed to 4K you can check out the NZXT Canvas 1440p monitor it’s the perfect monitor for black and white setups
It’s definitely for the aesthetic, I hate it but I’m keeping on
The Sony M9 retails for £999 in the UK, but $900 in the US ... I got my LG UGGP950 for £599, only thing missing is 96 zones of local dimming, otherwise my LG is perfect.
Brian really out here playing racing games with a keyboard. Really feeling that wooting huh?
Lol good eye
With Call of Duty fps, was that also using DLSS ?
Wait so my monitor isn’t broken? I thought it was because I couldn’t change through the picture modes😩
Is there any video on your set up with 1990 pro
Not yet. Just moved into this new studio space a couple months ago and still tweaking some thing before the setup vids
@@badseedtech appreciate you
Pre ordered a M9. Coming from a 24 inch BenQ 2411k for my ps5. Hate it now…lacks too many features.
Using natural light on your a shot or is that just quality studio light?
All of the above. The new studio has natural light for days so there’s two massive windows to the left. There another panel led floating over the top of the table, and a big 300 watt going through a magic cloth on the far wall facing the monitor that can wash the whole room.
@@badseedtech I can tell. I have no direct sunlight and I'm missing it in my setup. Everything looks impressive fam
Thanks so much man. Always around if you pick my brain or talk shop, but yeah - natural light was very high on the shopping list when I found this place.
Went without it for a fee months and it was challenging for sure.
I’m playing around with the monitor as I type this. It’s good but not great. For me, not quite worth the cost. I think it’s worth it to spring up for the Neo G7, an OLED, or wait. It’s good but just not enough for the cost. Just my two cents.
does this monitor have a Ethernet port on the back, thought i just peeped one??
Nope
@@badseedtech oh ok, how would we go about updating the software on it though. I heard there is a update for it??
F I wish I would have waited I bought the lg on launch but hdr sucks and this has 96 zones oh well I guess I'll wait a couple of years till oleds or other monitors with more zones
Yaba daba do!
I do not care for 4k on a 27 inch. It is too small and having used 27inch in both 4k and 1440p side by side I think most people are full of crap acting like 4k looks noticeably better. I had too look hard to see any difference at all and that was only in games that had a lot of aliasing. Even then all I had to do was use DLDSR to run 4k and essentially match it in image quality. I love a 32 inch as it feels like just the right physical size and 4k at that size just makes so much more sense for most people.
Where’d you get the shirt?
Municipal website
Hey bro, wanna ask if you have a recommendation on whether I should go for a 27" or 32" monitor? Looking for a curved option and I'll use it mainly for productivity and light gaming. Looking for 1440p and up, around 350 USD!
Thanks man
Curved go 32
Just saw a video where they compare this monitor to a Samsung G7 Neo with 1196 dimming zones. It's not even in the same universe, the difference is brutal, so if you really want HDR gaming, those 400 bucks are definitely worth it. Other than that, nice monitor for a debut.
I think that might be my next pickup, but I’m still weighing options a little further up the price tiers.
Spent the past few weeks playing HDR on the PC side and its come a really long way.
@@badseedtech as someone who does professional video editing shouldn't you aim at something in the ProArt class? so like the PA32UCG
@Limes89 Monitors Unboxed channel. Yesterday’s video.
@Limes89 yeah I got used to the curve easily on my current monitor but for productivity go flat. I mainly game or just emails and light work so the G7 Neo really has me interested.
Now i have to change the color theme of my PC to white since my PS5 is white and this monitor😅
What's that game at 5:24 ? Thanks
That's Ratchet & Clank: A Rift Apart for PS5
This is a nice monitor sony actually priced it correctly
does anyone know if you can downscale resolution on something like this if you wanted to hit 144hz in shooters but want a display like this for single player games?
Literally covered in the video
@@badseedtech was that when u mentioned playing strictly competitive?
And I apologize I didn't get to really want the video yet I'm at work
@@badseedtech nevermind I found the part of the video thanks
No worries - glad you got the info you were looking for. I find it works really well for that and I can't do that with my 32" panels
It's 2022. Monitor stands are overrated. You can get a cheap, sturdy and versatile monitor holder which clamps to the desk and frees up space under the monitor. I'd never go back to a typical monitor stand. Just make sure the vesa mount fits. A stand shouldn't be a dealbreaker when buying a monitor imo, ofc it would be nice if it wouldn't suck in case you can't for whatever reason use a monitor holder
The thing that matters for me with gaming monitors is response times, motion blur, and overshoot. Without those kind of measurements I don't think gaming monitor reviews are going to give me anything to base purchasing decisions off.
Yeah I hear that - Going forward I’ll have color space testing and blur/overshoot tests included. Response time may be a bit tougher but I’ll get there.
But fwiw - This is a casual monitor all day. Not what I would pick for competitive.
@@badseedtech I don't think every channel that reviews monitors has to be very detailed on performance metrics. I would argue most people never look into that when deciding on a monitor and there are plenty of other channels that will provide those metrics. Your channel is one that reviews a wide range of products so going into extreme detail in every category isn't the most feasible.
Software instead of joystick is a GOD send.
and man my favorite feature of this is that EDGE LIT DIMMING I MEAN DANG THAT IS REALLY SOME NEXT LEVEL SHI-
Great video, I belly laughed at least twice.
You’ve lost weight homie! Hope it’s for a good reason and if it is your looking great friend thanks for the review.
Give me this panel in 34"
Just checked this out and it's listed at an equivalent $1,200USD where I am. I can get a Samsung Odyssey G9 for the same money.
Where you located?
Buyer beware. This monitor has a bunch of reviews on Amazon and 45% gave it a one-star rating. This is unheard of for such a new product.
If this came in black id buy it😒 no news about it?
You are recommending settings (Using KVM and Response Settings) without actually testing it. If you don't actually test it you shouldn't make assumptions on which is best.
Who says I didn’t test it? The fastest overdrive mode shows clear overshoot when playing. Just bc it can’t be captured easily on video doesn’t mean its not obviously visible.
Man I dislike that stand design, but most people will mount it anyways. Very clean design everywhere else though, me personally, Imma save up for that Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 when i build my new rig. Great vid as always though my dude!
I returned the Neo G8 a few weeks ago. Do yourself a favor, don't save up for gimmicks.
@@SilverJoystix hey thanks for the heads up!
Hello notification peeps
I think I found my new monitor...
The monitor looks nice and all but the price is just way too high
are you cutting??? damnnnn
I'd say the AW3423DW is lowering everyone's prices. Why spend more than $1300 when you can get an OLED at that price.
For me, the answer to that question is ultrawide - never been a fan of the format
@@badseedtech yeah first foray into ultrawide for myself and while it's def a PIA for certain games.... man does that QD-OLED hit hard.
I don't think it's fair to rely 1000% on NITS for a true HDR experience. If you look at the average brightness of the best OLED the C1 now C2 its barely 300 nits. Yeah displays colours and shadows better than everything else. The case is even stronger with non OLED Panels as extreme brightness with backlighting creates halos, and nearby colours are just destroyed.
More brightness isn't the answer. We've had HDR for ages yet panels ONLY NOW can reach over 1000 nits. Doesn't mean anything.
Do you think an oled with a peak brightness of 400 nits is true hdr ?
4k gaming? nahh I don't wanna play with 50 to 70fps or even turn down the textures making it look like it's the 90s again, I have a 27inch 1440p gaming monitor and I think it's near perfect at least for me.
Les goooooooo
Naah. I’ll go with neo g7/8
Why would LG lower their prices? Its not even OLED...
What about DLSS? Not an option for me really anyways since I have a 3060 but with DLSS it may give playable frames
I support Sony's decision to not include a cable in the box. In 2022 you should have HDMI cables coming out your orifices; they're available at gas stations for chrissake. Regarding the edge use case of a first time pc user, if this is the monitor they choose, they've probably done their research (and sort of deserve it if they haven't). A win for e-waste reduction in my opinion.
Best most comprehensive review. Equally objective and opinionated
$900 for a 27-inch monitor? Hell no
Picture on m9 is great. Problem is the 120fps mode. Not sure if it’s a problem on pc. But on ps5 randomly the screen will cut to black. Searching for signal and return to an image that is washed out and unplayable.
I returned the first and the second did the Same. Look for better options if you plan on playing warzone or any other competitive game at 120
27 inch mehhhhhh give me 32 4k
If this was a 32 inch, I would be all over it. It seems to be a happy balance.
How are you guys doing today?
