  • One hour of hiking Mount Everts which is just east of Mammoth in Yellowstone National Park. This video contains a lot of wildlife including 3 bears all in the backcountry. Great video for exercise bike, treadmill, etc. Also if you just like to watch long relaxing walks in Yellowstone, then this is just the video.

    Stan, I just watched the second half of your video of the Treadmill Walk - Mount Everts. I was surprised to see towards the end of the video what looked like a very young or under developed bear with its mother. The video was posted 3 weeks ago (it is the end of November now) but may have been filmed earlier in the year. I really enjoy your videos. My wife and I are from the U.K. and we visited Yellowstone 5 years ago in late May. We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful scenery and, of course, the wildlife, especially the grizzlies and wolves. We are amazed to see how seemingly unconcerned you seem to be when coming across grizzles miles from human habitation. I really enjoy your calm and quiet presentation style and the beautiful parts of the Park that you frequent. All the best and please keep the videos coming. Alun

    I will always like your videos and your approach to wilderness hiking. I'm much the same and often I feel wildlife know if you're an elusive observer or a self determined macho man. Also from recent news, I believe dogs are more of a safety risk than a protection unless one is hunting &armed.

    Stan, really enjoyed your video. Curious about the potential wolverine sighting. ive never seen one in the wild, but it looked too short/height for a bear and its looping like gait looked like a wolverine from films ive seen. Wonder if you went over to its tracks to better ID? Bob

    Great idea, Stan! Now I can hike with you at the gym. What’s a good time to come out there for cross country skiing? I hear it’s wonderful. I’ve been there in the warmer months but never in the colder time of year.

    Thank you, Stan. I didn't see in your comments or comments below, but is sounded to like wolves howling just after 21:40, when you panned to the single elk. Would that be correct? Thanks.

    • @StanMills
      @StanMills  Před 9 měsíci

      Yes. I am surprised you could hear them. I didn’t amplify the sound of the wolves on this video so they are hard to hear. Thank you.

    I knew the second I saw it. Wolverine. Ex hubby is a fed biologist. Studied them. In glacier and near Phillips burg I think?? In the last 10 years they have increased some in various locales.

    • @StanMills
      @StanMills  Před 9 měsíci +2

      I have never seen a wolverine in the wild. I thought I did here. But watching the video, it looks like a fast running black bear. It was about 300 yards away when I saw it. I think the way it was running through the deep snow made it look like a wolverine.

    • @chrisanngianoli2206
      @chrisanngianoli2206 Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@StanMills ten years ago they were in glacier. Not Yellowstone. Tracks might be telling. Gulo gulo has been seen in bitterroot’s maybe in 2012-13. They built traps from logs. Big 2 meter square boxes. They had to go in fast to get them out because they could chew thru the logs in under 24 hours. When I saw the later section in the video of the black bears, i figured i was too snappy, but it was mighty close match on that run. And you get back and up far enough to be lucky with a sighting. Cheers and keep warm.
