- HUGE trailer fire! | A Day In The Life of an OTR Trucker
Just another typical day in the life of an over the road truck driver... Just kidding! This trip was anything but typical. I was on my way back to SLC, UT when I drove up on a trailer fire! BKM got out and used my fire extinguisher to try and help put out the flames, but that didn't work so I called in the fire fighters. No one was hurt in the making of this video, thankfully. Big shout out to the Oregon State Troopers and North Powder Rural Fire Dept. for responding quickly, and handling the scene proficiently.

Hey everyone! “Cameraman” here 😎✌🏼 Please consider giving this video a share to promote the old trucking morals of lending a helping hand and camaraderie. Y’all are a family out on the road as Shelby said. Let’s get this hashtag going: #notruckerleftbehind
Robert Mensing Thank you so much ☺️🙏🏼
My husband is a Detroit Police Officer, thank you for your service where that may have been for how long that may have been for. Not an easy job. Your skills are amazing and i'm glad you could help out in that situation as well. The music is amazing in these videos, shots are gorgeous, keep up the good work! amazing videos.
@@smOVERCOMINGITALL Retired from Redford here. Small world. Stay safe.
Black Kodiak Media techie question/request!? That’s a very nice orange/teal colour grade you’ve got going on there 😁 Do you use a commercial LUT or a home made one? I’ve been trying to get that look for my vacation movies...having problems with orange faces though 😂
Skallia Ray I worked in a couple different states, one city PD and another county SO. Thank you for the compliments and tell your hubby to stay safe out there.
Young lady your good heart and professionalism lends a great example to the industry. That is you!
non 👌👌👌👌💖💖
Amazing example of professionalism in such an important industry
She's full of good energy 👌😘
Glad no one was hurt, but you need to wear some reflective clothing especially at night like that.
I was thinking the same!
Reflective safety vest is mandatory for many trucking carriers and shipping facilities too.
She had reflectors and a light. Now she can get the reflective vest and hopefully never use it. Dark and cold isn`t what this lady needs.
Let's go champ
I know they normally are supposed to have them but she might have forget when she was worrying about the fire
Also, CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW AMAZING @blackkodiakmedia IS????? Wish every CZcamsr stepped up the way he does
Caroline Sharpe 🥰🥰🥰
Black Kodiak Media I was going to say the same thing!!! This video is incredible! I hope you send it to that fire department. At least the shots of them. Such an artistic view of the amazing work they do.
Video is beautiful. Properly exposed, excellent lighting etc. Beautiful work.
Hell yes! Unreal how good he is.
Awesome filming and editing, great work!
Every time I watch a "Happiness By The Mile" video, the sun is warmer, the sky is bluer, and people are nicer to each other. 💖💖
Shelby I think you have a big heart may God Bless you and Safe travels
Your cameraman is freaking AWESOME. He just made me want to be a firefighter.
Holy sweet damn BKM, seriousness of a truck fire aside, this was beautifully shot. Good lord.
8:33 we interrupt this video about trucks to bring you important information about moss.
Love it, subbed.
🤣🤣🤣
😳 thank you guys for stopping! Now that’s brotherhood in Trucking right there!! It’s still alive!! 🥰
Driven Trucking just think of you had someone riding around doing all your videography! Keep doing you, man. Nice work on your part.
Wyo Trans thanks man, hopefully some day I will get as good as BKM 😊
superbe amigo
Being in the emergency services for 13 years now, I've been on several trailer fires. And a couple tractor fires as well. I wanted to give a shoutout to the fire department and law enforcement on scene, as well as to you for stopping, and to BKM, for assisting. You guys are awesome.
Thank you for your service to your community. Fellow FF here, did 13 years until I got sick.
Sometimes every little bit helps. Awesome to see this comment after reading some other comment bashing her and BKM saying how dumb it was for them to step in to try and help.
@@stephenrich3029 There's nothing wrong with them trying to help. That's part of being a truck driver. Help out your fellow man. Not leave them stranded, and hope for the best.
I am a a police officer in the UK and I've have been to several trailer and 1 time a ar went fleeing into the back of him and the driver died
Of the car
I was panicking when you were running down that shoulder in the dark !! The way those trucks were speeding past was plain crazy !!
As always, please stay safe Shelby !!
Wow!! Action, adventure, scenery and a biology lesson to boot. 😍
Tune in next week where Shelby teaches about elephants and competes in the Indy 500 😂😂 kidding lol.

The Columbia River Gorge is simply beautiful and one of my favorite drives as well.
I LOVE the Dakota narration!! Melts my heart.
Absolutely, Shelby and the incredible BKM* make great videos but dang, Dakota's subtitles are the best!
(I mean, being in the cab all the time, and moving about to get different shots, and Dakota totally not reacting to them... the perfect fly on the wall!)
Dakota narration is why i keep watching really because it is hecking funny.lol
You have my full admiration and respect.
You rock for stopping to help, Shelby! :)
I've been trucking for 30 years, the days that other truck drivers would stop and help, is gone,
agreed remember knowing where all the bears were
Did you not watch this video? Lol.
I remember when I 1st .. Started driving the Early seventies.... There were been 20 trucks stopped it this one.. It seemed like no one gives a shit anymore.... By the way I am retired..
I like your DOG.. Thank you for taking the time in train your dog..
It's very sad in trucking now days it's dog eat dog world and that Mack drivers to. Every body out for themselves screw there co workers.
Heckin yeah, Dakota steals the show! She be da boss of dis channel! Stay safe, driver 👍
Shelby, That was nice of you to help a driver in need.
God bless you for stopping and helping! I'm glad that you all are safe! Like you said many just kept going and yes, on the Hwy they go the speed limit or above and that was dangerous because like you said you almost got hit! People when they see those triangles at first glance need to slow down and move over for safety, I do, and stop and help each other! But people are always in a hurry! I pray traveling mercy over you and your friend and beautiful dog! You Rock🙏❤️
The Highway is Not a Happy Place. Risked her own life by stopping
Native Oregonian here. I love this state and never want to leave! Also props to you for stopping to help. In this day and age it's hard to find people willing to do that
I would love to see a morning and night routine on your truck!
Laura I agree that would be cool to see
Laura yes plz!!
Definitely!
Not as exciting i can tell u that. But this channel is good on making trucking some how awesome and interesting. Keep doing the good job enjoy watching ur vid keep them coming :)
Wow! That’s scary! Shout out to the Fire Fighters!
Fast becoming my fave CZcams channel. Must be awesome cool to see so much of the countryside as you drive. Great life!
Absolutely amazing filmography! The editing, sound and production is over the top ! Just WOW !
It's Human Nature to Help. Congratulations for Being so Kind!!!
Never a dull video with you, huh?
Nice job helping out.
No more FedEx?
You will see soon 😁
I've been retired from trucking since 2016.. Though I still miss it, I wish you safe travels and a long future.
Lmaoooo the commentary for Dakota is the best ! 😂😂😂
Awesome to see you stopping to help. I would recommend you get some tactical flashlights that have the strobe feature for it will make it easier for people to see you. I would also recommend getting roadside flares because the only time the reflectors work is when they are hit with light. Flares, especially in this situation with all the smoke, can be seen whether light hits them or not. Might also help to have a reflective vest with battery powered strobes attached so people can see you as you're laying the triangles and flares out. I have all this in my roadside kit in my jeep I would highly recommend you do the same. Good to see everyone was okay and it didn't get worse than it did.
The dept. put out flares really close to the truck after a while. I don’t carry flares.
@@ShelbyHBTM I personally would recommend getting flares yourself just for that extra bit of safety but it's good to see you immediately thought of putting out the triangles when no one else did.
Or those LED round discs - they're bright, and also have magnets on them. A little bigger than a hockey puck, and relatively cheap. Also as mentioned above, highly suggest a reflective vest. Be safe out there!
Not to be a plug or anything and I have no affiliation with this company but would recommend even though they are kind of pricey. I work on the side of the road a lot so they come handy and are really bright. www.guardianangeldevices.com/
Wow you've trained her well. I can see the Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty, but I can't stop looking at the breathtaking scenes of nature from your travels. You should be given a ribbon for coming to the assistance of another person in distress. Truckers helping truckers. Shows just how genuine you are.
I’m from WI been driving for 3 years now, my company won’t send me past Texas, that looks like an amazing drive, jealous! Stay safe out there!
Jeremy & Jen i knew a guy that drove for Millis lol nah I drive for a small company in Plymouth, WI. Service 1 Transportation. Only like 30 drivers.
Jeremy & Jen i hear ya there, landing this gig with the smaller company I’m family not a number, I’ve become great friends with my boss on a more personal level and as a bonus the pay is perfect
This is some award winning coverage of this fire! Glad everyone is okay!
If the days of drivers helping other drivers is gone, then it is up to the new people entering the industry to bring it back. What a wonderful example you are setting and a powerful call for awareness. When you're out there all alone and you see someone else who is also out there all alone and in need of help - YOU HELP. Proud of you and admire your character. 👍😎👍
Great Job helping out a fellow Driver. The reflectors were a good call but a good rule of thumb is to have a reflective vest handy for night time roadside jobs like that and chaining. Be Safe & God Bless !
Love love love your videos! I’ve been looking forward to this video since there was a clip of it from your last video. Amazing work and footage!
Wow! That escalated quickly! 🔥 Props to y'all for doing what you could to help out!
*Your cameraman is really a pro, making your journey exciting!* *I thought to mention, the trucks wheel on fire, was really something, but you might want to put a reflective vest on so the oncoming traffic can see you and maybe one of those green stick lights that can be attached to your jacket...* *thank God the firemen were able to put the fire out...one incredible seen and thank you for helping the truck driver. P.S. the scenery of the journey is breathtaking, people don't need to travel overseas, we here in the United States have it all, we're one blessed country!* *Thanks again for the video!*
Awesome video! Makes me miss my days up in the Northwest!
Shelby, that’s awesome that you helped out where you could!! May God Bless You!
As a trucker that’s been in this for years , what you did in this situation shows your willingness to go beyond all obstacles to help a fellow trucker , god is with you , I only hope if I ever run into these types of problems I would be fortunate enough to have someone like you to come along and help . GOD BLESS YOU , BE SAFE OUT THERE
Incredible video BKM! Loved the break stop for a nature walk, cinematography and music was exceptional...yes...right out of Middle Earth. Really enjoy hearing Shelby's story telling - fire dialog and video was exciting. Nice team work!
Glad you helped the driver. Oregon is so beautiful! Safe travels to you! 🙏🏻
Thats really nice gesture beeing so involved in hepling others, great job a big hug from your fan:))
I miss my days OTR. Your ending on this video is what I remember trucking being like. People helped other people. Keep up the good work Truckeret. 🙂
I love how you take along on a relaxing break with you on the side of the road. Thank you.
It’s awesome to know you were through my neck of the woods! That part of 84 is probably the most scenic going through the gorge!
Love your videos! I pray that you’ll be safe out there, people just don’t pay attention while there driving anymore.. be safe❤️❤️
I drove that route for the first time this last Sunday. Absolutely beautiful! Coming around the corner and seeing Mount Hood was amazing.
Y’all are some amazing people!!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It's really nice out there thanks for posting and good job helping a brother in distress God bless you and safe travels🙏🙏
That was intense. Rain rain rain on the East coast. Great video you guys take it easy out there.
Great job and back in the old days there would have been 25 trucks on the side of the road helping that guy. You did good stay safe and warm and see you later down the road
Thanks for exemplifying the traits that should be common but aren't. Helping those in need, keeping others safe and being kind to each other is so important.
You’re so kind for helping that truck driver. I love your vlogs as always. Keep safe fellow driver.
I’m currently in Utah 1 week in my trainers truck. First time I’ve been in Utah. Beautiful state! I’m glad I found your channel keep it up.
Nice 👍 job assisting another Trucker. Safety is so Important because the Roads are Dangerous and Deadly because of Driver “Inattentiveness”.
This is why every truck driver needs to have a good working CB radio in their truck. It can be used as a tool to talk with other drivers when bored or in this case, warn other drivers of what's going on ahead. Too many drivers out there nowadays don't even have one in their truck. I can't tell you how many times my CB has saved me while out on the road. Good on you for stepping up and helping out any way you could. Not many drivers now would even stop. They'd just keep going and take a video of it with their phone while driving by.
Man, I wish I can go do something like that. I love to travel an be a trucker, It's always something I wanted to do an because it looks so fun an awesome! An that awesome for you to take your time to help someone in that situation. Have a wonderful day. God Bless You!
Thanks for the memories. I used to live in the Columbia Gorge. Beautiful area. Crazy people ...
to many people living on top and too close...coronavirus was made to reduce the aging population induced by insurance companies and AFCA.
As a retired vol fire/rescue and EMS worker for 35 years, I’ve seen a lot. But one of the most dangerous things you can do is to be on the side of the road at accident scene. So you be extra careful in the future. I don’t want you to get hurt. May I suggest you get a reflective vest or coat you could throw on in an emergency. That would help you to be seen. I applaud you for helping out. Not many people do that anymore. If I’m ever broken down on the side of the road, I could only hope you’d be the one who’d stop to help! Keep up the vids. I’m loving them! Be safe out there!
I forgot my vest at home. This was a brand new truck and I keep it on a hook by the door and just missed it on my way out. Usually I have everything packed into my truck so I’m ready for anything
@@ShelbyHBTM Wonderful! I'm glad you have a vest! You'd make a good emergency worker! haha Take care
WOW thanks for stopping and help.
Want to say the cinematic shots looked great! And just amazing quality! And not to be weird but you also have very pretty eyes as well and you were also caring to stop and help out with the fire bc alot of people wouldn't have done that so mad Respect!
I work at a mine loading aggregate haulers, I’ve let a few of the drivers I interact with know about this channel
It’s nice to see the stop and help attitude in other young people!! That’s how my family raised me and my sister, we’d always roll down windows on the highway if someone’s hood wasn’t down right or if someone was hauling a camper with a door open or something. When you take the five minutes to stop and help that will stick with you and with them for a long time and will always come back around ☺️
Great video with amazing footage, thank you for sharing, will add to my playlist.
Very cool footage!
Just for your viewers.
Realize that tires explode so judge the fire accordingly.
That was a hot one.
The intermittent explosions also indicate a mixture of products.
Great job you two!
Exciting video.
I had a trailer fire last year. Good times. Took the fire department half an hour to get there, by that time the flames were 30 feet high, lost everything! 😅
Sorry to hear that.....
Incredible job you guys. Glad I found this channel! Keep up the amazing work and beautiful video work!!
You did a great job helping . I am a fireman for 25vyears and people think that firemen are a pain and in the way ! I try and tell all the young firefighters that people see you as a target on the road !! So thank you for stopping and helping .
U R so focused, helpful and smart. Thanks God for people like U. Love all your videos.
Oregon is beautiful. I wish I lived there.
NON 👌👌👌
I love your videos, the editing is amazing! I’ve never really watched trucking videos like this before, but it’s really cool to see what your days as a trucker are like!! Love it!!
Amazing video as always.
Well that escalated quickly! Fantastic editing to there camera man!
and the congratulation to the departament fire taht assisted fast and efective realy are heroes
I wish people would stop using the hero term for every thing, being a hero is a selfless act, that's what a Hero is, firemen fighting a fire is there job
No not Heroes, there doing there job, look up what a hero is, then you may understand
I'm obsessed with this channel, love it!
You're so kind. Such a big ❤️
My dog is Dakota too. Golden retriever though. It sure makes driving Gooder.
This is why I carry two 20lb class D fire extinguishers. ABC extinguishers do absolutely nothing for a brake fire.
Exactly... Have to cool the brakes down to prevent/stop the fire. ABC will work on the rubber once the brakes are cool enough to not ignite or reignite the rubber.
So awesome assisting others great to see safe travels
Healed, delivered, protected, preserved, made whole & kept safe & sound
Nice video
You need to wear something reflective at night. 🙂
Totally agree. I wish shed wear a vest driving at all times
gran fan
Also I hope the driver unhooked his tractor to save it!
Glad this popped up in my feed. Nice change from the usual stuff. Thanks for sharing.
BKM videography is astonishing. The drone footage is out of this world. Happiness by the mile.. inspiring and rejuvenating for a seasoned trucker to watch. Keep up the good work Shelby and BKM.
The driver must have been riding on those brakes.
You need to wear some reflective vest.
Glad no one was hurt.
or a brake pod could of locked up
@@waynelandry9000 i'm thinking that's far more likely. if he was on the brakes, surely his truck brakes would go first as they do, being that the trailer brakes aren't as strong/the power favours the truck brakes over the trailer. For obvious reason :)
Or a wheel bearing......i had one go on my rear trailer about 3 year's ago, burnt it to the ground.
@@charliewoodbury9961 Or that, that makes sense. Also, can't have been a very nice experience ay
@@jonnywilson9117 100% correct his drives would lite up first
Do you have a reflective vest or something in your truck easy to get to for unfortunate circumstances like this? I hate how dangerous it is ): Sending love your way!!
I forgot it at home. I was very upset about it. That was my mistake.
Forwarding on a couple of ideas. 1 - Have a second vest that you “pair” over the top of your jacket (slightly dorky) so it’s always there. 2 - get some reflective stripes (not necessarily hi-vis) to strategically place (back, sleeves, etc). Not super obvious, but definitely better than nothing
Black Kodak Media is awesome. These are seriously some of the best production videos I have seen on CZcams. Keep up the good work! You’ll be at 100K soon!!
Wow, lovely country! Tks for sharing!! GS’s are best!
Why is he called just “the camera guy” jw
jr dowell Maybe he doesn’t want his name out there she also calls him bkm which are the initials to the media company filming
Absolutely love these videos! Great job!
Another great one! They all are really. Great team work on the fire. I've stopped at a few in my years of traveling. Once in the middle of the night on a large highway ramp; the driver was trying to get stuff out of his cab while it was going up almost had to drag him away from the truck. I get it though, felt bad for him.
Great shots of the FF's putting the fire out! They must have loved that!
Wow just wow best CZcams channel I’ve ever witnessed in my life!!! Great edits and music just plain amazing
This is a great video. Good job to ya both.
I don't think I had ever seen a dog eat fruit, let alone so carefully, it really is cute! Thanks so much for stopping and helping, hopefully something like that never happens to you but I sure hope people would stop to help you out too! On a last note, that toy at the end is adorable!
AWESOME job and great pics.stay safe.
I love your videos! It gives me a whole new admiration for truck drivers!! Thank you for all you do.
