The standard edition is $70 though. I think that's ridiculous and if you want the OG blood dragon armor, you have to pay $90, and the rook edition doesn't even come with the game

I love the Dragon Age franchise so damn much. I desperately want Veilguard to bring BioWare back to its glory days and based on the latest trailer, I'm (cautiously)optimistic. I need to manage my expectations, because I might be crushed if this game turns out like Andromeda or Anthem. Fingers crossed.🤞🏼 🤞🏼

Yea I wish BioWare was as good as it was back at at least Mass Effect 2 days. Larian has dominated them with Divinity and BG3 and shown what great rpgs can be these days, I hope BioWare can prove me wrong and show they still got it but I just have huge doubts lol. Fingers crossed though.
@@joshnizzle It's a different thing now. Divinity didn't crush them imo because Bioware stoped doing classic RPGs and now they're stopping making RPGs with action elements. Veilguard is an evolution of Action with RPG elements, similar to Witcher games more than what Larian did wtih BG3.
@@joshnizzle While I agree, I don't think is fear to compare this game with BG3 because they were developed almost at the same time. And while they had a whole year to learn from them, it's just not enough time to change much things... But with ME5 they won't have any excuse 😂
@@Panssel it’s definitely fair to compare them. They’re both rpgs. It doesn’t matter when they were developed as long as they’re both in the same era. Also BioWare has been around a long time and made great games in the past, Baldurs gate 1 and 2 are great, so they know how to make good RPGs like bg3 without needing to have seen BG3. So it’s totally fair to compare. I hope it’s great but I don’t see it being as good as bg3. Hopefully I’m wrong
I think with Dragon Age, since the series as a whole lacks consistency when it comes to it's combat/gameplay, rpg elements, and art direction that there will always be some form divisiveness amongst the fans especially when Bioware has consistently made changes that over excite one section of the fanbase while simultaneously outraging another section of the fanbase.

@@alejandrogarcia7938 That maybe true with some of the fan pages, but a lot of them turn into fan safe places because a lot of them don't let or share other fans opinions and feelings on the series if it doesn't match their own opinion. This has also been true here on youtube with division amongst the fans over Veil Guard.
You are correct, they have removed loot in dragon age Veilguard so I am not that excited to play this game.
I also wonder what keeps you playing past first and second act, when all you get is 3 abilities. No one would be putting skill points besides the 3 you use , which means it will be the exact same skills being used hours on with no changes for hours after you get them.
The game looks pretty decent so far. The marketing teams on the other hand, seems really out of touch. Good news is that they seem to be learning and adjusting. This trailer looks miles better than the last one.
It still blows my mind the amount of conclusions people jump to from a trailer. Like we haven’t learned anything? I wait until the games out to judge and that drives people crazy. Gotta have a take, and it better be hot (so long as it’s negative)

If “everyone” you are talking to thinks it’s awful, you are in the wrong places. People I speak to, in the real places, are pretty excited. Or at the least mildly interested. No one that I have personally spoken with (that knows about the game-has seen anything on it) thinks it’s “awful.”

Fans of the franchise who play the game and judge each game off the previous ones.
Fans of Bioware who judge each game off how Bioware are doing as a company.
Fans of the franchise who follow every aspect of the series, including books and animated shows.
People who see a new game and want to judge it based off what they see up front with no further investment.
First three are in the party of the game has potentially, so lets wait and see. While the last group has already claimed the game is bad and are being very vocal about it sucking.
Fans see the potential here, the lore hints so far, the talk of gods and return characters, locations we have heard about but never seen. It's all exciting. We just hope they can nail the whole package and deliver a solid game.
Not what I'm seeing, happily. I'm excited, definitely, but I've been having a blast chatting with others who are just as hyped as I am. You may be seeing too much of the culture war trolls that have been brigading comments. Regretfully, they are in full force whining about "DEI".

I'm with you on this and unfortunately it's not just Bioware at this point, either. There are so many companies in the industry that bled so much talent or just got consumed by corporate control. It's hard to expect a game that won't be monitized to hell, let alone have quality worth dropping at minimum around $80 on and investing hours of my life on.

I definitely think this will be way better than andromeda and anthem that’s for sure maybe even better than inquisition, but better than games like dragon age origins and mass effect 2? Probably not, though we might be surprised.
I will def check it out as Origins was one of my favorite games. However BG3 really raised the bar and set the new standard for that genre and I dont know if Bioware can replicate it.
@@marinewillis1202 I think its a good idea to go into a game thinking of it as it's own thing. Obviously comparisons will be made, but it can be good while also being different from BG3. BG3 was genre defining in its allowance for choice and consequence, but not evey game needs that. In fact, i think it can detract from the story when it's too open. As long as combat is fun amd the story is good I'll be a happy man

Nice, i remember i bought Dragon Age Inqusition off the discount self at Game Stop back in like 2018? Not sure but it was a slow starter for me and it kinda got shelved for a few years. One day I was bord and wanted a new experience so as I do I will go back and give games another chance. Sure enough I was like holy sh*t and it has been one of my favorites for a long time now. I have even tried harder to make the mods on Nexus work as there was 2 mod managers and that split up what all you could have together that would all work. Well now I discovered that DAI and Frosty can be used together. It set off another playthrough. I wish they would toss us some new content for DAI but with the new game which I will eventually get they are busy with that.
You should try DA2 and DAO. DAll gameplay is more similar to DAI while Origins will take some getting use but both have great stories and companions
@@aminahmed286 I have the DAO and DA2 game pack but the games can only be played with a keyboard. Lots of games I would like to play are this way as I have Grand Theift Auto Vice City for PC and it doesn't work with a control pad. I loved playing the game back in the day and I cannot understand how a game that originally was a console game with a control pad cannot be made to work on PC with a control pad. I'd love to play Golden Eye 007 again but I don't think that even exist for PC.
@@KennethJarvis-j9m Back in the day, it was not common for PC players to use controllers, only for games that required special ones, such as racing titles. Also, both Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age 2 were made primarily for PC and ported over to consoles. That thing about making games for consoles then porting them to PC started around the time Inquisition was launched. Before PS3, there were few crossplatform games, and PC was the main platform.

They should've used this new trailer with release date and all as the reveal one, it has such a much better tone, it captures the stakes, it transmits what dragon age is about, shows legacy character and makes excited for the lore of the series.

Laying out the Roadmap was great. I wish more developers did this. I really hope this lives up to Origins. Bring it back to dark fantasy. The worst thing Inquisition did was feel generic.
I love seeing Morrigan again. She is my total fav (in all videogames, not only here), but I truly want to see Leliana as well, my other fav girl 😁 She appears in every DA, if she is not here, I'm gonna be mad, cause she also had an important role (no matter the choice) in Inquisition.

Was hoping for an early Oct but I’ll take a late one, Nov-Dec has been rough on some games in past years that I had high hopes for, it feels like those two months with holidays aren’t consistent for releases currently and can shuffle game sales performance. 10/31 cannot come soon enough.

Gamers are generally fickle. They follow whatever the popular negative narrative is. That being said BIoWare have a lot to prove. Can they? Sure they can. I can’t tell you how many “ gaming influencers” have shit all over this game only to say “ But I’ll be playing it”. Such hypocrites. They tell their followers to run from the game but they themselves are going to play it. You Matty are not like that. Your always honest and hopeful that a series you love is going to deliver the goods. I’m totally with you. This trailer was really good. I’m rooting for BioWare to make a comeback because they made great games when their communities were much smaller and filled with positivity, unlike the cesspool of over opinionated a-holes the internet gave voice too. I look forward to revisiting Thedas and doing some lore diving. I look forward to your coverage and have my fingers crossed that BioWare is back!!
Negativity is all over the place this days and im usually against it, but in this case i must agree. As someone who followed the series since the development of origins, seeing the decissions made in this game, starting with the art style, feels pretty frustrating.
Based on what happened with andromeda, a lot of us where hoping for this DA to go in a different path, but doesnt look like thats the case, the game looks more marketing driven than art directed, so that put a lot of us in a bad mood bc we want the developers to notice that those changes are not what many of who supported the franchise since the begining want.
Sayd that, i get that a lot of people just play the game for the story and lore, and dont even care about the artistic tone, the mechanics, the tactical elements etc, and see the critics as an attack to the franchise they love, but its not, at least in my case, the intention.
@@alexhosen You strike a valid point. However, I do think the combat has evolved very nicely over the years. People will hate me for this, buuut.. the combat in Origins SUCKED. It was only okay when it first launched, and it's pretty much unplayable nowadays.
@@Maubari Actually, more than evolving, it turned from a tactical game into an action one, but its fine, I can agree with you on that at some point. The problem is all the other aspects and options that where downgraded or eliminated.

@@AmericanMuscle93 For me is clear, but i work with graphics so maybe my eye is more trained. The general style is more cartoony, in the main chars is more subtle, but is still there, with the proportions in general, slightly bigger heads in relation to the body, thiner wrists, bigger hands, slimmer waist, and slightly exagerated facial features, more pronounced chin, bigger eyes, bigger noses. The more notorius is Emmrich. In general a less realistic approach in terms of characters design, but where it is most notorious is in the enemies, not just the ogre who looks silly and awful, but the skeletons, the fire demons seen rampaging the city in the first gameplay, with small legs and huge chest and arms, the darkspawns that Harding turns into stone in this trailers with slim legs but pronounced knees and big foots. And others seen in the images released so far. That makes the game feel more childish and less immersive to me. But i get that not everybody has the same concerns about it, but im not the only one either.
I hope the injury system comes back in some form. It gave combat stakes in the early, and inquisition worked with limiting healing but shields were busted

LOL ... yes! When Dread wolf showed up in wolf form - I lost my sh*t. Soooo good. Plus, Morrigan, what appears to be a blighted broodmother, Ghilinain's body horror creations ... and, um, "hot wings" (haha Lucanis is amazing)! I'm extremely excited to play this game.
Dragon age has personally done nothing for me. Just don’t feel it. But I do hope this game is good and it succeeds because man do I want another mass effect.
I am so excited!! I just recently replayed DA2 on PC and it was much better than how I remember it. I am also so happy they are having the PC copy be 10$ cheaper, no EA app, and steamdeck certified. 100% a PC purchase.

Looks great, except for two things:
1. They did Morrigan dirty when it comes to her appearance
2. The older necromancer, and the skeletons, and the monsters look cartoony, like they're made out of playdoh. And it kind of breaks the immersion for me, the contrast between the things you fight and the absolutely detailed, dark and dirty surroundings...
Im not cautiously optimistic cause i dont want campy happy BS if they do a DARK TONE AND STICK TO IT then ill buy it

The fact that Harding (my favorite ginger dwarf!😍🥰) is FINALLY romancable, makes it the canon romance for me. I dont mind the action combat either. Just hope theres some nice post game content or NG+ etc. I just pre ordered the "rooks coffer edition" with the physical copy on ps5 from gamestop Canada. I never finished Inquisition, I kind of want to go back and do that before even turning an eye to this game. It's kind of a rough game for me to keep my attention on, so I might look up some mods to make it more fresh.

I got a free box of Factor cos my family orders it. I'd probably continue ordering it if it wasn't so expensive. Practically $14 a meal, and the portions aren't that big. Very good food, for sure, but I can feed myself for a lot cheaper. It's probably a higher value than the new Dragon Age, though. I hope Bioware releases a demo.

I'm excited from the recent news and look of the game. I seriously can't wait to dive into this game on release and will preorder it for classic nostalgia armour. I hope the story holds up, I actually don't mind the look of combat and the visuals. I'm honestly not the type of gamer to care about that as long as the game is fun to play and can tell me a story as I play.
I've always been in the cautiously optimistic side of things. I've just enjoyed Bioware's games for so long, so I'm rooting for them to find their footing again, and I really enjoy the Dragon Age world.
I think there is a long list of concerns about this DA bigger than the name change. Im very pesimistic about it but i wish they prove me wrong.

Ive been playing dragon age inquisition for a few days now and I hope the next dragon age game fixes some problems specially the combat system. In inquisition you have to play the game with target locked enemies, you dont have a crosshair so you have no clue where youre attacks will land, you cant cancell auto attacks or move while you attack. Also you cant sprint in this game even with a horse (what?) and basic combat mecanics like roll and block are locked behind skills so not all caracters can do it.
I really need to update my console before this game drops

Don't get me wrong. Veilguard looks like an amazing new Fortnite mode--and I do genuinely love me some Fortnite--but how tf does DRAGON AGE go from a dark-leaning high fantasy to Spyro: Age of the Dragon?
There is no way the October 31 date will hurt them. If anything it was a smart play because if anyone else is like me ill be waiting a few days or even a week to hear the consensus on the game before I choose to buy given Biowares recently history with games.

I am a sucker for a good high fantasy epic story... As long as the new DA meets that standard, everything else is secondary for me. Dont get me wrong, I REALLY hope the game is great, I just love the lore.

That beginning gameplay also felt on rails. You had these demons running around but the character had zero interaction with them. The supposed risk felt hollow.
Typical first 20 minutes of any RPG. No matter what your character does the result is the same and you proceed with the real story from that point on.
At least it seems story heavy so that the basic low level combat isn't the focus.
