The first movement, "March of the Black Legion," sets the stage for the epic tale of Avalon's downfall. This movement captures the relentless and menacing advance of the Black Legion, the dark and formidable enemy force. The music is fast-paced, mirroring the urgency and determination of the invading army as they march toward Avalon with the intent to wreak havoc.
The composition employs powerful and ominous motifs, creating an atmosphere of impending doom. The rhythmic drive of the percussion section mimics the sound of marching boots and beating war drums, while the brass and woodwinds deliver bold and foreboding melodies that convey the sinister nature of the Legion. Strings add a layer of tension and unease, weaving through the piece with rapid, unsettling passages.
