Let's Talk About Lil Nas X..
VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 27. 09. 2021
- Lil Nas X is one of the most polarizing pop icons we have seen in the past few years. The "Old Town Road" rapper is consistently shrouded with controversy over every little thing he does. But is it justified? Is it all part of a big marketing ploy? Or does the "controversy" say more about the people that he offends more than the actions themselves..

No adult I know listens to him and if anyone brings up his name, we beat them to an inch of their life.
When it comes to anything about Lil Nas X, I think it's just him being himself, but at the same time, the marketing/controversies that he finds himself in, is because he knows what will get clicks, attention, etc.
Much like anything else, marketing is essentially taking your personality and "dialing it up to 11"
the thing about him is that he doesnt end up in controversies, he creates the controversies because he is a marketing genius.

There's no question that Lil Nas X's haters are massive hypocrites. He's not doing anything that any other rapper/hip-hop/pop artist don't do. He's just the first to be unapologetically gay while he's doing it. He's doing a public service and an inspiration to marginalized people to be yourself, be authentic, and don't try to fit somebody else's mold.
He basically represents how a lot of hip hop artists low key are. There's definitely a gay agenda and Pimp C spoke on it.

@6:22 I have to disagree on the outcry of heavy metal bands with Satanic imagery. The late 80s and 90s were highlighted by âsatanic panicâ and there were whole movements trying to censor these bands because parents thought they were encouraging kids to perform Satanic rituals. Any kid who liked that kind of music back in the day were considered freaks, outcasts, etc. Most famously I think is the West Memphis 3 case, especially Damien Echols being the ringleader and accused of murdering three boys in a satanic ritual because he liked heavy metal. These guys spent decades in prison for a crime they didnât commit.

Wouldnt call him a genius.. and i dont give af bout him anyways that much. But my mans music is fire.
Lil Nas X to me kinda just cemented a shift in the music industry. For most of my life, I got the impression that artists pick one over arching genre to stay in, with the most diversity of their music being sub genres (my notable example would be the rock genre. Many artist dont leave THAT label, but may shift around from metal, hard rock, alternative, and usually the career ender would be pop rock or going "full pop"). Lil Nas X, even though I can't vibe with his music, is still kinda inspiring. He makes the music he wants to. Him and artist before him like the Gorillaz started changing the idea that an artist is locked into a genre and should only be focused on that kind of music to cater to one group of fans. And on top of that he shows his dedication with the intensity of his music videos. They are full budget, well recorded videos. Not just lyric videos to push the song out. Ultimately, I'm just glad the dude is doing what he wants to. That's what matters in the end.
This video is years old now and I still have never heard of any of these albums.
Well Iâm glad that youâre discussing both sides of this argument, I do wanna point out that there is a very large outcry in religious communities about metal music and basically any genre that has what could be conceived as dark symbols and imagery. Itâs just not as large as the outcry as itâs been for Nas, simply because those bands and concepts are not as big right now. But there are always churches claiming that anything that doesnât sound âorderlyâ in music is deemed a gateway to evil. I can tell you as a Christian, one of the worst struggles of my upbringing was trying to explain to my folks that liking metal music didnât mean I was going to hell. I personally donât care about any of this controversy because I think everyone is going batshit crazy over all of it. I think Nas should be mindful of what kids know him for, but itâs not Nasâ job to shield his fans young or not.
I think itâs partially his responsibility for his young fans. They are young which means they are naive and very impressionable. Theyâll somewhat mimic how they see him act especially if they see him as theyâre idol. I think more Christianâs nowadays care about the lyrics, especially since we have Christian metal, rap, hip hop, etc. now.
@@good-tn9sr to an extent. How young was Montero when he released Old Town Road, like 19? So it's no different than Miley Cyrus putting out Hannah Montana and then a few years later putting out all her sexual shit
@@seriosmusic yea but this isnât a few years later this is like 1 year later. I remember hearing 6 year olds singing old town road and also when Montero made videos of Roblox on TikTok, and we all know that the average age of Roblox users are sub 12âŠ
@@good-tn9sr he put that song out the end of 2018... it's the end of 2021... I'd call that a few years
@@seriosmusic the song got popular in 2019 and I heard kids singing in early 2020 before the shutdowns where Iâm at. Not to mention he did Roblox concerts in 2020 as well I believe, so itâs obvious he knows the age range of his fans.
Didnât really follow him back then when he dropped Old Town Road, but since then heâs become an icon and a great representative for the LGBTQAI+ community. His tracks are fye, heâs charismatic and heâs got humor. Love him âš

u forgot to talk about the old town road remix with billy ray Cyrus great video two
I donât remember exactly when I followed him, but it had to be 3-4 months before he first dropped old town road. He would just post videos of him sitting at his desk at home jamming to his own hip hop tracks. The track that first caught my attention was Banzup, and then I watched a few other posts and really dug his sound. âRight now I still live w my mom and my dad but Iâll skeet on your face in their basement. See I fw crackers and Haitians.â Etc. I really thought he had a great flow and was honestly pretty witty/creative with his lyrics. Really seemed like a dude just having fun with it, and thatâs something I feel like we donât see much today in rap. I think he produced a lot too. Since he blew up, all that has been wiped from the internet by his label. Canât knock him for getting his money and cementing his place in history, but having really dug his âtraditionalâ rap music before the old town road madness, I canât help but wish he didnât âsell out.â That being said, if he was not being true to who he is at that point, then itâs unfair of me to wish he stuck to what I liked. Regardless, I truly think itâs important to acknowledge his talent. People get distracted by the âloudâ stuff outside just the music itself. Even back then, I thought he had the talent to be THE rapper that would bring fun back to the genre
I saw one comment that theorized that Lil Nas X is not even gay; if this turns out to be true then it crowns him as one of the greatest artist marketers of the century
You think that would make him great? That would be weird as hell considering how influential he is to very young kids. That would further validate conspiracy theorists' claim about the industry pushing an agenda
@@DREAMP4RK3R great not in a sense of being great (cz you said it best, of course it would be weird af), but great in a sense of how he managed to fool millions of people into thinking he was gay. I agree with your point dawg.
@@el_matamuertes Fasho I understand what you mean now. 'Evil' geniuses do exist
â@@DREAMP4RK3R he's not influential to anyone tf
I feel like it's a tricky situation because his videos and antics are starting to outshine the song itself. Longevity in his music should be the focus for an artist instead of the visual aspects
Okay so 8 months later and I only just learned he dropped an album. Kinda glad I don't follow social media
Got my water. Thanks for the content. đ
