    Mark/Jake deserve a pizza for allowing us to critique their match! I'm assuming indoor courts here are faster, some skid factor. Mark came back 6-1 in the 2nd, kudos to him. Jake has a great serve motion, once he dials that in (and doesn't double fault FIVE times) he will definitely win his serve as he moves it around. On a side note I'd like to see Essential start using 'yellow arrows', on the screen and dots to better point out hitting spots, landing spots. Of all the instructors here Kirby has the smoothest stroke, looks natural and unforced. In your early years you were outside and it seemed windy every dang day, now the videos are worth watching more than once as the tips are golden. If you're ever taught friends who wanted to 'get better', you quickly realize it takes time on the court, unlearning bad habits and a commitment to react/change -but that friend 'might be awhile'.

    These are solid 3.5 players. Yes, they don't have the fastest serves, hit many winners, or put tons of pressure on their opponents...but that is why its 3.5. At this level, most of your points come from unforced errors, and consistency and placement will win you most games rather than pure power. Also keep in mind, in recorded footage amateurs tend to look worse. Try recording yourself playing and you might be shocked!

    I think to test the chart you need to only help one player in the match. Maybe have a 3.5 play a 4.0 and help the 3.5 as he should on paper lose. Or have 3 matches with 3 pairs and help only one side and see if the chart helps win the match.

    How do you have the time to fill this out at the end of warm up and after each change over? This tool sounds really helpful, but is it really possible to use this in the middle of a match? You have a limited amount of time to write stuff down and reformulate your strategy before the next game in the set has to start.

      @automaticsweetheart2009 Před 3 lety

      Actually, no. 3.5 players are anywhere from 3.00-3.50. A player with a USTA ranking of 3.51 would be a 4.0 player. But yes, there is a wide range of playing abilities within the 3.5 category.

    • @francislirios9730
      @francislirios9730 Před 5 lety +1

      Richard Saenz I believe they didn’t really mind his foot faulting because they were more interested in improving their strategies. If you noticed, they didn’t focus on any negatives.

    • @EssentialTennis

      @richsaenz01 Před 3 lety

      I agree, if this were a regular game, but it's not a regular game. The coaches missed an opportunity to participate in a teaching event. The fact that the coach defends ignoring the rules means he is complicit in promotion of cheating as a tool to win.
