These are great tips for matches at my level, thank you, essentially they're a game plan and following them has improved my results and enjoyment of matches massively, of course I still lose to better players but they have to beat me, I don't beat myself! 😀
    1. Get high percentage of your 1st serves in.
    2. Return serve back direct at server.
    3. At baseline be on opposite side to opponent.
    4. At net be on same side as opponent.
    5. Hit Baseline rallies cross court.
    6. At net Hit Volleys short.
    7. When Opponent comes to net hit low shot at them.

Hey Ryan, good job on this video! Right here you have probably all the strategic information you'll ever need for your entire club singles career. I especially liked the last point on "hitting AT the rushing net player"! Excellent. You're so right, we all try (and fail, spectacularly) to hit the highlight reel passing shot and gift yet another point to our opponents. Just hit it AT 'em! Half the time they'll flub it up. Beautiful. And oh so true. I'm keepin' that one. Thanks Ryan, keep up the good work - JD, Canada

Great basics, Ryan. Make your first serve, service returns to the middle, recover bisecting the return triangle, jam up the rushing opponent at the service line. Very few club players practice to cover the long volley/half-volley hit to their body at the service line, a very effective offensive shot to set up the easy put away.

2 minute tennis has certainly grown - this video alone was over 17 minutes! Haha - but every minute pure gold! Can't wait to play my next match with these excellent points in mind, especially the last one about hitting to the - moving towards the net - player, rather than attempting to "avoid" him or her which often results in a weak or ineffective shot.

  • @MyDawgHasGrillz

Thanks for the tips! Lost in three sets last night. Had too many violations of Rule No. 1 (gave him too many second serves)...and Rule Nos. 2 and 5 (went for broke on the service return and way too early in rallies). Gotta play smarter. Gonna put these on an index card and re-read on the changeovers. 🎾🎾🎾
