I understand where Ale os cominf from in a sense of completeness, i always say it, Cr7 is a player with attributes to his game, so as a result he has multiple primes, so does messi. R9 has one prime and was complete, R9 did evolve his game to counteract his weakness but not like Cr7, so while R9 had one prime where his dribbling, passing explosiveness strength close control and speed was best in the world, Cr7 had multple primes, so from 2006~2009 was one Cr7 primes, in this prime he was an electric wide midfielder who could do everything, he was adding goalscoring and a lot of end product to his ability to beat players and dribble and his physique, then you have 2012~ early 2015 where ronaldo was at his true peak as a player as a dribbler, goalscorer, ball passer, attacking movement superb, his ability to beat 3-4 players his skills, freekick penalties so on( even though his freekick drop from late 2014 onwards). Cr7 3rd prime was his prime as a Goalscorer, this is from 2016~2018, in these years Cr7 was at his peak goalscoring wise, all of his goalscoring attributes he had before and all the scoring ability he was developing for the past 12 years, ronaldo would now use that to compensate for his injuries sustained in 2014, so this is where you see ronaldo constantly score a variety of goals, headed goals, left foot right foot, penalties, beating players to score( less players though) he even started to score more pocher goals etc. My point is while Cr7 had many primes with his attribute, R9 had one encompassing one where he was complete, but if i were to pick i still would go Cr7.

@@shevonbailey4478 in 2015, he was just slightly recovered from tendonosis, and he got a red card in the season after reaching 20 goals i think by november, given that it was a 3-4 match ban, ronaldo scored 48 goals in 35 games along with 16 assist excluding in UCL where he equaled neymar and messi for top scorer. The reason why 48 in 35 is so incredible for Cr7 because its practically him equalling messi's 50 goals in 37 la liga outings, but he didnt equal it because he didnt score 50 goals, that was the greatness of it, he basically had close to messi's output in the 2011-2012 season but just didnt get the record, this was messis prime season as a goal scorer and thos was ronaldo after he was injured and saw his playstyle slowly reduced, it was just shy i think only thing messi had a few more of was assist, 2015 was a very underrated year for ronaldo because he didnt win any title.
Lets look at the year before the injury. Ronaldo got 51 goals, 17 in ucl with 17 assist in the league, 5 in ucl, counting the goal and assist for 2013- 2014 in all competition, this a goal/assist every 59 minutes, this season was valued more because ronaldo was more of a beautiful more creative player.
I say this to say that while yes ronaldo had to evolve as a player, credit should be given for his general out put, to be able to move so well on the field that you can score so much and in so much ways, and still assist a lot while beating out the average and stats, phenomenal

Ale's argument is valid about the Brazilian Ronaldo's skillset. But I don't think anyone has argued that Cristiano was the most breathtaking player to watch. It's always been about his goalscoring efficiency.
Cristiano Ronaldo is a machine. Messi and Ronaldo have put up astronomical numbers that we haven't seen in over 40 years at least. An average year for Cristiano at Real was better than the Brazilian Ronaldo's best year. Even if you correct for how the sport has changed in the last 20 years, he's still way ahead.

But Cristiano Ronaldo is a beast. He’s is literally a machine. That’s the only way I can describe cr7. Yeah maybe R9 was the more gifted player. But as the saying goes; hard work beats talent of talent don’t work hard. This why i say CR7 is a machine because I don’t think there’s a footballer that has his work rate or dedication. But they are not even in the same bracket. It’s Ronaldo and Messi and everybody else for probably 200 years from now. And if you really wanna say at his best. Then it’s still Ronaldo lol like what? "Ronaldo did things nobody had seen before. He, together with Romário and George Weah, reinvented the centre-forward position. They were the first to drop from the penalty box to pick up the ball in midfield, switch to the flanks, attract and disorientate the central defenders with their runs, their accelerations, their dribbling."

I’m not even a CR7 fan but if you put him in any of the Real Madrid/Brazil team R9 was playing in, his would have scored more and been even better .. old heads just don’t want to accept the new guys
