He appeared in 5 back to back major tournament finals leading Brazil to 4 winning 3 scoring in 3 and got player of the tournament in 98 after getting a seizure before the final. These fanboys are so ignorant. They lack so much knowledge they dont see the changes in the game. They act like R9 had VAR, played against defenders who don't tackle and played champions league every year for the best club. At no point in his domestic career when he played for the best club team in the world. Real Madrid was the best in history on paper but they had poor team chemistry since there were so many stars who could stand out in the game. But how Ronaldo Nazario and Maradona played were out of the box. The way Maradona and Ronaldo played football were more elegant in our eyes. Ronaldo had some aura that he could dribble past a defender in a lot of ways and like he could think of a skill out of nowhere. R9 was is the legend!R9 before his 1st injury in November 1999 was 23 years 2 months old and had scored a total of 233 goals between clubs and national team. After his injury he stopped for 2 years and 8 months before coming back in WC 2002. Although he won the WC, he became slower and started to gain weight and had health issues before loosing his second knee with AC Milan which ended his career later. Now since R9 is a striker, let's compare him with other strikers/goal scorers at the same age who played from the 80's to date:
    R9: 233 goals
Maradona: 167 goals (66 goals less than R9)
Hugo Sánchez: 154 goals (79 goals less than R9)
Dennis Bergkamp: 140 goals (93 goals less than R9)
Messi: 136 goals (97 goals less than R9)
Ronaldhino: 134 goals (99 goals less than R9)
Patrick Kluivert: 131 goals (102 goals less than R9)
Túlio Maravilha: 130 goals (103 goals less than R9)
    CR7: 114 goals (119 goals less than R9)
Zico: 120 goals (113 goals less than R9)
Romario: 116 goals (117 goals less than R9)
Jürgen Klinsmann: 90 goals (143 goals less than R9)
Roberto Baggio: 78 goals (155 goals less than R9)
Zlatan Ibrahimovic: 77 goals (156 goals less than R9)
Thierry Henry: 65 goals (168 goals less than R9)
As you can see, the nearest to R9 in goal scoring was Maradona with 66 goals less than R9 ... R9 was a BOMB before the injury and this is why he is considered the BEST STRIKER EVER in football history !!! PERIOD!!!!! Plus: He was the youngest player ever to win Fifa Best Player. Ronaldo scored tons of goals in the Netherlands and Brazil (98 exactly) where it is significantly easier to score. and don't forget both Messi and Ronaldo started on the wings. It took time for them to be the forwards we know today. Ronaldo's career was over before his Milan days. By the season 2005/06 at age 29 he was already overweight and only declined further. Christiano Ronaldo scored 250 goals after that age with 48 goals coming in the season 14/15 when he turned 30. Despite the fact that Ronaldos career was shorter his scoring ratio is significantly worse compared to Messis and Ronaldos (0.67 vs 0.85 vs 0.75) and don't even get started on his Champions League numbers

Pre injury R9 was the most terrifying offensive weapon the football world had ever seen. And yet, he was still so young. Barely 19-20-21.
Even after a couple of knee surgeries he managed to win a ballon d'or event hough he had lost much of his unbelievable speed and acceleration.
The careers of Messi and CR7 will never be matched again. We can all agree on that. But pure talent and revolutionary skills like Ronaldo had never been seen before or again.
He was the perfect fusion of the on ball skill of Messi, Creativity of Ronaldinho and physical explosion of prime CR7.
He was the full package and it was cruel to the world of football to see such monstrous talent be gradually chipped off by near career ending injuries. The Gods of football must have been envious of him.
