@El-ahrairah First of all, you have to be a tenor, 10 or less years old boy, female or Freddie Mercury, because it's way out of baritone range. Secondly, you have to train and treat the vocal chords constantly or they'll lose the elasticity hence the ability to produce these notes. And last but not least, without a good warm up you might make them once in your lifetime.

    • @chupasaurus
      @chupasaurus Před 4 lety +1

@El-ahrairah If you hadn't broke chords by eating nails or screaming, you might do it. Constant training and little by little you'd get there. As I said, randomly you'd do it once and damage your voice forever.

This is an old video, so chances are neither of you will see it. Vin, I get where you’re coming from with feeling “too much” sometimes, too deeply. It can be tough, but the bright side to that ability is your ability to love more deeply. Sori, I loved watching you keeping an eye on Vin, your soul reaching out to his when he leaned back at the solo. You two are fantastic! What an amazing duo, and you compliment each other so well. I’ve heard this song countless times, watched many reactions, but it was a pleasure to watch you both and feel/sense the empathic vibes going back and forth. I hope you are both well and happy. Dimebag was a amazing guy, from what many people have said about him, and a god at the guitar. At one point he played a show while he was blackout drunk, I believe. For most players it would be a train wreck, but with Dimebag he hit every note on every song on the set list and the next day he didn't remember playing the show. Pretty much muscle memory took over. lol He'll be missed. R.I.P. Dimebag Darrell

Or the time he was tossing out guitar picks and a fan caught one with his tongue, "That's badass! Your getting one of my crybaby (guitar petal)" I remember reading that.
Also another story was, I think (I could be wrong), the lead singer from Machine Head said Dime was again blackout drunk but was having a fun time jamming with him when out of nowhere he trash one of his guitars. He went up to Dime, told him about it and he apologise. I don't think he was mad, he was like "dude! Come on.". Later on he gets one of Dimes Signature guitar (worth easily a Grand) with a note saying "Sorry for trashing your guitar". It's been awhile since I've read that story but I think I got the jest of it. Again amazing guy! :D

The metal band guys would get Sooo wasted. The singer would forget words etc... But, my husband has been in band singe elementary school. He graduated HS . This song took on a new meaning as I considered some stuff watching this. I know this song was about feelings surrounding suicide of a loved one. Possibly a girlfriend or something like that. What I just realized is I think this song covers the TRUE full spectrum of feelings.
The anger. The sadness. The confusion. The regret. The guilt. And as it touches on the relief of finally letting go of the pain, it comes full circle. The anger that it happened, the confusion surrounding letting it go, the regret of holding onto it for so long, the guilt of letting it go and moving on. Like one final heartfelt “I love you” mixed with a “fuck you for this shit you left me with”. The back and forth between the vocals and the guitar in the very end there and the fade out... It was like washing the last of it - the pain and memory and hold it has on one’s life - out of your system and watching it fade away in the wind.... like a ghost.
I could be wrong as far as it pertains to what Phil actually meant. But it hit me like a ton of bricks quite suddenly while watching this. Dimebag and Vinnie were legends and Rest In Peace and all of the due respect. But I also wanted to just say that Phil poured his soul into this. Some of the realest, most honest lyrics of any song I’ve ever heard.
It popped up randomly on my feed. Hadn’t listened to it in so many years. This song just became one of my favorites once again.

First, I really like how intently you guys listen to songs. I am 39 years old and I have been a Pantera fan since my first listen, probably around '93. Always loved this song. Coming up on 2 years ago I lost my love, who was pregnant with what would have been my first child. Nothing can prepare anyone for that kinda loss. The first time I heard this song after that I finally understood it and felt it, tore right through my soul in a way I never knew possible and man did I need it. Personally, I feel the chorus as a cry, like, I'll do anything to see her again, I can't accept not seeing her again "The way we were...The chance to save my soul, and my concern is now in vain. Believe the word, I will unlock my door, and pass the cemetery gates"... chance to save my soul, believe the word, pass the gates. My concern is now in vain, I can see her again, I can pass these cemetery gates. Dudes willin to do whatever it takes, find Jesus, sell his soul, whatever, just to see her again, pass the cemetery gates. As far as the band, I got to see Pantera twice... absolutely, face meltingly, ridiculous. Even though Phil was hammered the 1st time he still killed it enough and the attitude mattered the most anyway, energy off the charts, the band was nuclear and tight as a cheap suit both times.

As Joe Satriani once said, " Dime never sacrificed precision for heaviness." He was just as precise with his playing as he was heavy.

Rex played the backing guitar on all the Pantera records. There are two guitars on the studio recordings but definitely not live.

Pretty sure Dimebag got killed December 8th 2004. It was Dimebag and Vinny Paul's band. According to some of the witnesses the gunman, ex-marine with mental issues, yelled something about blaming Dimebag and Vinny Paul for Pantera breaking up. 8+ shot and 2 dead.

This track is an absolute work of art. The guitar solo, the main riff, and the intro are all classic examples of how metal should be created. I’ve not heard it in years, so thank you than you than you for the review.

My sister lives in Pantego Texas were the first Pantera albums are recorded. I lived with her for quite a while and rode my bicycle through Dalworthington Gardens all the time. One day Rita was outside Dime's house signing for U.P.S. I yelled out Miss you Dimebag and love you. Rita gave me a big smile and waved. I went to the local park misty eyed. Same park Dime is shooting off fireworks in Dimevision. Veterans Park. Saw Vinnie Paul driving his black Dodge Ram in Arlington also.

Man Vin, as much of a Metalhead as you appear to be, I cannot believe that you've gone all this time and not been influenced by Pantera and some kind of way up until now. Pantera really Pioneer to sound man starting with the Cowboys from Hell record that nobody was able to reproduce for a long time. Every album they put out, in my book, is a classic. Even their least likeable album, Reinventing the Steel, has multiple tracks on it that managed to go somewhere either lyrically or with musicianship (guitar) that was able to stand the test of time and influence so many people. The day that Dimebag was killed on stage, along with Jeff "Mayhem" Thompson, who was a legend in the middle Community himself (he was the security manager for Pantera through most of their existence and continued with Dimebag and Vinnie Paul when they formed Damageplan), Erin "Stoney" Halk (part of the security staff), and Nathan Bray (fan who happened to be former military and tried to give CPR to Dimebag before he was shot himself). The band damageplan that was formed after the split was Pantera only managed to put out one album, self-titled, and even that album managed to go to some pretty awesome places musically. It's time to expand your metal education, you really need to delve into Pantera's material.

I guess have to understand Vin's era - Nu Metal and newer...it always surprises me too when Vin is like: "I never heard anything from Megadeth/Iron Maiden/Judas Priest/Black Sabbath etc...etc..." I am like WTF...what metalhead has not heard songs from the legends?...Vin is definitely a metalhead but with a narrow focus...I guess it is good because we get first time reacts from him.

One of Pantera's "problems" and the main reason I personally believe a lot of people nowadays (and even back then, in Vin's and my time and what I believe to be your time too by the looks of it, though to a much lesser extent) don't pay them the attention due is the fact that to the average listener, and at first listen, a lot of their songs sound very similar. I have the utmost respect for Pantera and I think most everyone understands how incredibly influential and important they were/are to the scene, of course not every artist/band has to be super eclectic but at the same time the period between, say, 78 and 83 had such an insane amount of incredible heavy metal bands pop up that I can honestly understand why Pantera may get eclipsed a little bit, albeit not for lack of merit. I just don't think they've aged as well as many other bands within the genre, either.
PS: obviously much of this may be cultural, I live in Europe and I'm assuming it might be a lot different in the US as well as elsewhere.

Great comment. Best metal band of the 90's without a doubt. Got to see them open for Black Sabbath in 98 and they were awesome. Hearing Pantera always makes me emotional the same way when I hear Ozzy with Randy Rhoads.
