- The Ben Johns Hyperion CFS 16 Graphite Paddle from JOOLA gives players the opportunity to experience greatness - not only due to its materials and construction, but because you'll be using the very same paddle wielded by the most highly ranked player in men's singles, doubles, and mixed doubles pickleball history: Ben Johns. The design leverages JOOLA's unique foam-injected perimeter ("Hyperfoam Edge Wall") surrounding a 16mm (0.63") thick polymer core to improve consistency, weight distribution, and the size of the sweet spot. On the exterior of the paddle, you'll appreciate JOOLA's textured Carbon Friction Surface (CFS) which takes your gear's capacity for spin to the next level so you can shape your shots on a moment's notice.
The Ben Johns Hyperion CFS 16 Paddle measures 16-1/2" in length, which makes it easier than ever to reach across the court, dig out those pesky low balls, and follow through on every swing. The 5-1/2" long handle allows for double-handed shots which are useful when you need to put a ball away quickly or topspin roll a winner down the middle. At 0.63" the core is much thicker than average in order to dampen impacts, maximize control, and reduce the time needed to recover from off-center strikes. The paddle weighs in at 8.2 - 8.6 oz., giving it plenty of swing-weight without the need for a big windup. Its grip circumference is 4-1/4" with perforations that minimize moisture and comfortable ridges which let players align their fingers by feel alone. Every detail meet's Ben's exacting specifications.
The Ben Johns Hyperion CFS 16 Graphite Paddle by JOOLA Pickleball delivers all the features needed to truly hone your skills and support advanced players in maintaining control over every inch of the court. - Sport
Love your reviews! I’m new to pickle ball but very advanced played in tennis. Had no clue where to to start but your reviews help me buy 2 paddles. I bought the Ben John’s Yoola from Amazon and it comes in today. And also bought the gearbox cx14. Thanks for your help and reviews! Got my sub
Great reviews as always. Love to hear from someone that plays and plays in tournaments but isn’t being paid to sponsor the manufacturers. Makes it more compelling. Looking at a new paddle and was going down the path of one of the others you had mentioned until…now food for thought. So thanks for the comparisons, as that is something hard to find
Much appreciated!
Thanks for the review David.. Covered pretty much everything..
Thanks for the review. Thanks be been waiting to hear about it, especially compared to other similar style paddles.
I have one of these too. It is a little top heavy but the power it has is over the top.
I agree with the review. The Hyperion feels like a premium paddle and a improvement to the Franklin BJ paddle for sure.
Thanks Dave! I asked and you delivered... quickly...to the dread of your opponents!😁 And more😊
How about the cx14 with lead at the top? I hear that adds a lot of power. Seems you are comparing a joola with tape to a cx without tape? Also I hear that the cx H has more power than the E. Any thoughts?
Great review. I use the cx14e with lead tape additions to increase its overall power. Durability vs the new gearbox is what I’m most curious about.
Even with lead tape, I find the CX14h i used before to just lack stability. Was prone to wobbling if I didn't hit the sweet spot.
I’ve played with both and I suppose time will tell but from initial impressions it’s maybe a shade of durability below the gearbox. I only say that because at the end of the day the Yoola is still a sandwich composite paddle but it’s def the best sandwich composite (paddles with edge guard)paddle I’ve played with compared to others on the market
@@zachcarmichael699 If you get wobbling that is because the grip is too small for you. Use and overgrip on it.
Great review. I appreciate the comparison to similar paddles. I know you said the CX14 was more forgiving, but how does the forgiveness of the Joola compare to the CRBN?
I found the CRBN to be poppy at the kitchen, it requires soft hands for control.
Good question. And good to know. As one o was looking at and rather not have something too ‘poppy’ right now as I try and get more into the soft game to become a full 3.5.
This guy is a stud! ❤
i found the paddle did not give much feedback when the ball hits the sweet spot. I like to feel the ball on the paddle and this paddle it felt numb with little sound or feel.
I’ve seen reviews saying the paddle is too top heavy and leading to elbow pain. Did you notice that as a problem?
You can order the swift version or go with a thinner core and put some wrap around the handle that’s what I did and it helps a ton
So if you give the Joola a 10/10 what do you give the crbn 16mm, Electrum E, and the Engage Pursuit 6.0?
8,9 and 8.
@@davidnel9145 I see that you gave the gearbox a 10/10 in it's review as well. Are you saying both are 10"s just one has slightly bigger sweet spot while the hyperion has more power?
I have the paddle but it's not near as good as the centre from Franklin, and Centre is under 100 dollars
The question is if they are both better than old $90 BJ Franklin paddle.
Absolutely, I owned 5 Franklins, they become soft very quickly.
It’s a nice paddle. But crbn is better. This paddle has more pop and harder to hit drop shots compared to crbn. But the quality is excellent. It’s a good paddle overall. But not for everyone.
I would agree to the extent that it’s more geared to upper levels.
Which model is similar but lighter? around 8 oz
you can look at the ROKNE curve classic, similar and lighter but not necessarily the same.
@@biagiosguera8918 Not particularly similar considering that the Rokne paddles have a fiberglass face and the Hyperion CFS has a Carbon Fiber face.
Get the Joola vision cgs. Same everything as this paddle besides lighter and average 7.8-8.0 ounces. I just ordered one. I think it doesn’t have the foam injection so it’s lighter. Which is what I want so I can add lead tape if need be and not having to customize a 8.6 ounce stock paddle is great
David is a 5.282 DUB DUPR
Watch the edge guards.
Great review, is it Made in the USA? Thanks.
@@fairx 🤔thanks
No paddles are made in the USA, maybe a couple assembled.
@@davidnel9145 my Prince Response Pro and my husband's Gamma RZR are both labeled 'Made in USA'
@@viviennelam8628 I bet you they get their sheets of carbon, fiberglass and poly honeycombs from China, ready to be glued together in the USA.
@@davidnel9145 China is no longer the supplier of choice, we are seeing more and more better quality parts from Vietnam, India, Cambodia, etc. 'Made in USA' is still the way to go for better workmanship.
CFS 16 69 year old player had the paddle approximately 1 month IT BROKE! handle detached from the head!
@Patrick Snyder mine broke after 2 months they won't give me a replacement because of the led tape I put on the bottom.
@@CliffPickleball oh damn I guess before you send them back take the lead tape off!! thanks for the heads up!
so its better than twice as good as his other franklin??
Absolutely
Even if it isn't right out of the packaging, I bet you'll wear out the max grit on two Franklins before you see spin decrease on the carbon fiber surface.
Handgrip is right size: 4 1/4”!
No one else has handle vibration issues like me?
Didn’t care for the stock grip. Would have to change it. But there are other paddles I would still get instead of it
I replaced the stock grip, what paddle do you prefer?
I play with adidas adipower attk and control. Played the Babolat monster before that. Take all those over the new johns paddles
@@robertharless3304 LOL! Adidas paddles are junk.
@@davidnel9145 Which grip did you replace it with?
Junk, the joola are already breaking in the handle in a week. My adidas I’ve been playing with for 5 months now is still going strong and no dead spots and no issues. I play on average of 18 hours a week.
Franklin is better
Made in China :(
