- Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
There’s a retirement home here in Alabama that has several interesting animals outside for the residents. There are two turkeys that seem to have quite the attitude. It’s a rare opportunity to get a really good close-up look at a turkey. Of course the gobble is known to all but the other sounds they make are quite interesting and unexpected at times. I hope you enjoy looking at this turkey with me for a couple of minutes.
This is the second channel by the way. Uploaded straight from the phone. If you feel like this type of content has earned your subscription then it would be awesome if you do so. If not, no big deal.... but thanks for watching this anyways.
This is the kind of second channel CZcams was made more, minus the needless insults of the turkey. Turkeys are awesome!
But why are the feathers iridescent? 🤔
Thanks, I didn't notice. I'm already subscribed btw!
The iridescence is really cool. I think it comes from the oils in the feather. But I suppose the ear holes are just as intriguing. Lol. Happy Thanksgiving Destin!
Great quality for a phone video.
researched and the sound its making is apparently a "fighting purr"
Now that's a boxing match I would like to see.
*DESTIN VS TURKEY*
*NOV 28, 2020*
*_COMING SOON_*
He should have put his finger in front of the turkey. If he pecked, then obviously it's a fighting purr. Turkey may also have feel threatened or scared seeing him close.
@@dandanthedandan7558 We can put a Gopro on the turkey's head, that would be epic
@@Yonatan24 Do turkey's heads stabilize like a chicken? Imagine getting a stabilized first person POV of the fight live lol
It's a pretty good trick... Makes cute noises so you go to pat it and then it strikes!
Don't get too comfortable just because the enclosure is protecting you, that thing there is a dinosaur!
Just when your least expecting it it'll turkey charge you
Ours chased off the FedEx guy. They can judge fear better than any dog. If they figure they can take you, it's on.
"man yells at turkey for science"
Dude, I love the way it sounds. Also you
I love the way you sound. Also you.
BOBBY!
The turkey was telling you that he wanted to be on your main channel.
Turkey was actually begging for help to not be eaten that's horrifying
@@royzevisionneur2045 He actually said that those turkeys won't be eaten for thanksgiving
@@muncherofpizza yes, that's what they say
@@royzevisionneur2045 I heard him say"EATME!"
Don't listen to the turkey, he is just trying to promote his instagram :D
Happy Thanksgiving.
Smarter Every Day 2 hope you have a wonderful holiday. I love the random short things that make it to the second channel like this. Thanks.
Why does the neck look like that. Is that overgrowth of cells or inflammation
And happy Thanksgiving
RiZZ me it’s actually called Thanksgiving
I caught you at my old school for a basket ball game the school was LCCS
"Mom? Dad is out in the yard gobbling again..."
“Don’t peck me”
*attack mode activated*
Hey Destin. The head of the turkey, especially red portions (caruncle, snood, and wattle), are also a little chameleonic. They change quite rapidly from red to white depending on their mood, and the level of threat. They're also fascinating to watch mating, as it is quite a long process. We have a small farm with a number of different animals. During the summer up to about 250 birds. We love our turkeys!
I would like to have the noise the turkey makes as a notification sound on my phone
That is a BRILLIANT idea!! I am now switching to gobble sounds!
@@LuinTathren awesome!!!
Me too.
I love how you got distracted from ending the video like 3 times.
Dude that close up of the wings looks like some crazy scifi material!
the feathers look kinda like some sort of small plating on some armour
Tomato Chan and they can really block bullets too!
@@stludachris be really really hard pressed to stop an actual bullet but they can stop smaller shot that have been fired from the end of its effective range.
Dimes On His Eyes you shoot em in the head for a reason. Cuz their feathers and body are strong.
@@stludachris yes and no. Yes shoot in the head so they won't fly away and to save meat and because they don't bleed enough to leave a blood trail.
I've shot dozens with a 22 and not once has the feathers ever stopped it. I have however found shot stopped in the feathers many times.
@@dimesonhiseyes9134 sneaky fella with that 22... turkeys are super skittish, hence the reason for longer range more powerful shot. Pellets will even bounce off human skin with the right conditions. i agree tho too, its not like defense contractors are shoving turkey feathers into their bullet proof vests
Just spent 3 minutes of my life watching Destin gobble like a turkey.
3 minutes well spent 😂
Considering he is a male and he's being pretty fighty, it's a safe bet that the noise he's making is a "get off my lawn" noise.
Destin talks turkey?
Oh Destin talks turkey.
Destin talks turkey reeeal well.
The hilarious aside, It really inspired me that a fully grown up man can still interact with a turkey just like a child does(well, not exactly). It just give a push to go ahead and enjoy finding answers to your own curious questions without really caring about how other react : ) Gobble Gobble Gobble!
0:50 "I don't want to fight you turkey, I just want to admire how beautiful you are, and by beautiful I mean ugly."
I need to use this in phrase some of my arguments.
Definitely a fighting purr that he's making. You can also tell by the bird's stance and fluffed feathers. I'm not a bird/turkey expert but I did grow up hunting turkey and also raising them so I have learned a lot about them. They actually have a very social communication structure as they move along together scratching for food in the woods which is interesting to watch.
When you are finally one of the first people to watch Destin’s video, but it’s a literal turkey.
The Turkey really should have been the national bird of the USA.
0:58 I love that this seemed entirely involuntary for the turkey
Man I don't think I ever fully appreciated how bizarre and interesting turkeys are! They also have a lot of tonality! That turkey started acting totally different as well when Destin made the 1st Gobbling noise. Really cool!!
“I just want to admire how beautiful you are... and by beautiful I mean ugly” 😆
I am a butcher and am so far removed from the actual life of the animal it's very odd to see this. Thanks though!
I just made gobbling sounds at my phone while alone in the bathroom. What a time to be alive.
Keep up the great work! Thanks for sharing.
This is so cool yet so random and I love it! Thanks for sharing this Destin!
are you posting a 10 hour version?
I love these little wholesome videos. You making the turkey sound was by far the best part
I like that he actually gobbled back at you.
I have a phobia of Turkey's, when I was young I had a whole flock of them go around me while my dad was laughing.
Will never forget that...
You're awesome Destin. You provide such interesting content. My son and I are thankful to you for the delightful content that you produce and provide. Happy Thanksgiving, to you and yours, and thank you for making us smarer every day!
Now this is the quality and innovative content that I subscribe for.
I think I have a new favourite bird. Thanks.
Enjoy Thanksgiving with your family too, Destin!
I'm thankful for turkeys.
You can literally clap your hands and he'll gobble. The chirps and called purring he's interested in you lol
I feel like a turkey after watching this 3 minute segment
Destin is a man who can find a reason to marvel at anything.
"Look at their ear holes. Isn't that interesting?"
That is one jive talkin turkey!
This sounds like it provided sound effects for Half-Life 2. Flying drones, I think?
Turkeys are, I believe the only domestic bird that technically can still "smell" things; other than their wild counterparts of course. They still possess an olfactory system like birds of prey ie. vultures, eagles, hawks.
Happy Thanksgiving, Destin & family 🇺🇲❤️
Awesome video, never seen a live Turkey so close and personal on a CZcams video. Thanks bro and happy Thanksgiving
Turkeys look like evolution took a dinosaur, got half way and thought "close enough".
And kind melted a little bit at the top XD
Turkeys do seem to have an abundance of "attitude', don't they! :D Happy holidays!
Best 3 minutes of this day!
There's a couple of turkey flocks in my city that I see quite often, and while I can get close to them, it's never this close. Very neat video, thanks Destin!
I was ready for the turkey to start speaking in Klingon
The turkey now on the table and ready to eat. LOL
By far the best video Desten has ever done.
This is the Thanksgiving interview I want.
Came for the turkey, stayed for destin's turkey sounds
Turkeys are very easy to hunt in Oregon. They were introduced some years ago and didn't do too well until the they lost their fear of humans and moved into cities, suburbs, and around rural homes. They roam streets and yards and can be seen in nearly every field and sometimes even in parking lots. They thrive on the grass and seed around homes, but lacking any fear of people... very easy to harvest. Like 9 iron easy.
I wish we could have seen more of the turkey.
Mostly we say that weird bird.
At least we got to hear the turkey talk a little. ;)
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
Happy Thanksgiving! Thank You for sharing.
Destin is the hero we need, not the hero we deserve.
In my home town there's a private house where the owner has some turkeys... I believe about ten of them.
Well, back in February during the night there was quite a bad weather, with strong winds (up to 90kmph, or around 60mph) and part of the fence of that was had been damaged. Well, around at 6am I was patrolling (I'm a civil defense rescue volunteer) that area when, after a steep curve, I've found all of those turkeys in the middle of the road: after the fence collapsed, all started strolling around, more curious than scared I can tell...
... well, so (since them were a danger on the road) I tried and pushed them back around the fenced-area. Them weren't so much cooperative 🤔 but what left me absolutely speechless was that moment I decided I was sick&tired of gently pushing, and I clapped my hands screaming "COME ON! GO *THAT* WAY!"... not only because finally them entered their "house", but mostly because a couple of them *jumped from road to the grass by "flying" like 8-10 metres (around 20-30-ish ft)...* I didn't knew them can actually fly 😱😂😂
Star Wars analogy rocked.
This is definitely the content I subscribed for
Will the main channel have a breakdown of turkey physics? :D
How about the amount of force a turkey can exert with its wings, or maybe how smart they are in figuring out how to get away from something....
@@RICDirector Or just like... Why they so ugly. So... So ugly. I had no idea!
Happy Thanksgiving Destin to and your loved ones.
If it was me making thanksgiving dinner I’d just go out and buy a bunch of cheese burgers and sides
this is the quality content i subscribed for
Turkey's are the heaviest flighted animal on the earth today. But they aren't too fond of it.
You promised three minutes with a turkey. You delivered three minutes with a turkey, with an added sixteen seconds of luxury. Thank you.
And yes, I am getting smarter: today I learned turkeys have a "fighting purr".
A yummy dinosaur. What strikes me is that is what dinosaurs really looked and sounded like. Just Waaaayyyy bigger.
This is the content i subbed for
amazing colors!
Ben Franklin wanted the wild Turkey to be the national bird. Fortunately for us it was decided on the Eagle.
I love turkeys. I especially love wild turkeys. Wild turkey are my favorite animals to hunt. They are so much fun
Happy Thanksgiving to you, Destin, and to all y'all'n's out there in the CZcamss, wherever y'all are.
This Turkey making those Turkey sounds made my German shepherds go crazy! Lol been barking for like an hour hhahahaha they miss going duck hunting lol
I have a little farm in Brazil and we have a bunch of animals, by far the most entertaining is the turkey. They are always mad and gobble at anything 💀
The Turkey was a candidate for national bird.
The device hunters use to make that second noise is crazy. It’s just rubbing a stick on some kind of little drum like membrane.
Birds are such interesting animals, i love their feathers.
Destin: you look like you are from Star Wars
Me: WTF are talkin' about. It's lookin' nothing like Baby Joda
lmao
I don't really know if I want to eat this poor guy's distant cousin tomorrow anymore
Sure you do, don't let its death be for nothing.
If it makes you feel better pretty much all animals would be totally fine with eating you. :P
1:22 Wow that in-between noise sounds just like ARK (game) Dodos!
0:58 LOOLOLOLOL!!!!!!! I didn't actually expect it to gobble back at you!
Thank You
so thats what a turkey sounds like
a face only a mother could love...
Turkey: “GUYSS GUYSS GUYSS, It’s Destin! He’s making a video about us!”
Other turkeys: “Calm, i’m grazin’.”
Nice to see our main course in all its glory before we stuff our faces with . Happy Thanksgiving!!
I'm always amazed, by how incredibly hideous and yet strangely beautiful those turkeys are.
This the content I'm subscribed for. Destin gobbling at a turkey.
Laughed so hard when i saw the title of the video on this channel :-P hilarious
Very entertaining!
That noise is a purr. It means it's pissed usually about territory. It's head is colorful to attract females. It turns bright white when they "strut".
The calls made between the purrs is called the whine.
The turkey is a paid actor
Now I can Watch since Turkey Day is Over!!!!!!!!
Better turkey light? The best turkey light is in my oven when I open the door to see if it's done!!!! Happy Thanksgiving Destin.
It's making an agitated purr. Sometimes called a fighting purr. In between the purr is called a "whine" or "pips and whines" amongst hunters. The colors in the head represent excitement. The more vibrant the colors in the head the more excited he is. He is also in half strut , making himself look bigger. He is agitated and wants to fight
Holy cow, he sounds EXACTLY like the Dilophosaurus from the first Jurassic Park movie. but they never said a turkey was used for its sounds when making the movie.
That gobble at 1:00 looks almost compulsive XD
A perfect example of a what was left behind, from the days of the Dinosaurs existence!
