I said "Nixon" in the video while showing an image of Johnson. No doubt someone will try to correct me in the comments. To learn more about Rev King's relationship with Richard Nixon, checkout this link: artsandculture.google.com/exh...
If you've never seen the "I've been to the mountaintop" speech, do yourself a favor and watch it.

I think you could probably edit this into a piece for your main channel. It touches on the idea of discovering the things that are already around you.... of missing what's present in the rush to get to a predefined destination (your gate, the security check point, the train, baggage claim, et al)... of taking a moment to reflect on the past before moving towards your own future.
NO
I love how he is. He’s who I strive to be in life
Edit: talking about Destin
StableEntropy yes. He’s a very good influence. Sharing his passions, and joy in life. All while being a light for Jesus Christ.
Destin gives me so much hope for humanity 👍🏻 thanks for sharing this with us dude
Very respectful and thoughtful post. I will be sure to check out that historic display the next time I'm there.
My friends and I were in Atlanta once getting dinner and we were waiting for a person who was meeting us at the place so we went and wondered the streets and not 2/3 blocks away we stumble across this park named after MLK and then across the street was a fire and we walked across and found out it was an eternal flame set out for him and his tomb was just behind it...it was just such a cool thing to stumble across in Atlanta
Less than two blocks from there is the house where he grew up, FYI.
@@admiralcapn Wow Will have to check it out next time I'm up there
I live in south Florida. It’s a shame that anything here named after MLK, are places you don’t want to go unless you have no choice
No second channel needed. Everyone who appreciates your work needs to see this. It's a significant part of becoming smarter every day. Thanks for being the awesome geek you are.
My grandpa has a bat and the handle is taped just like that one is and I used to play with as a kid visiting him.
Thanks for pointing that out. I'll have to check that out next time I fly through Atlanta.
0:34 Talked with *Johnson, not Nixon. That said, thanks for this, and I second the notion that this could be shared on the main channel. "Smarter" doesn't have to be just about science.
He talked with Nixon as well.
@@SmarterEveryDay2 He spoke with Nixon when he was Vice President, but he had been assassinated by the time Nixon became president. Still cool to see the items though!
@@SmarterEveryDay2 Did not know that! See, smarter!
Thank you for sharing that, Destin. I live in Atlanta, and I really appreciate when I see something like this highlighted. Thank you!
Honestly, I (like a ton of other people on here as well, no doubt) subscribed to the channel for all the really cool slow-motion mechanics and ballistics videos. But this was genuine and interesting which is incredibly fitting for the philosophy of the channel. It's tempting to wear blinders and live in your personal bubble, but really interesting things like this mini exhibit are peppered throughout our comfortable habitats and ignored by the public en masse. Thank you for this little reminder of our everyday living history.
This is why I love your channels, Destin. You point out the little things that, while seemingly unimportant, carry enormous weight and significance and have a tremendous impact on our lives. Whether it be laminar flow or a small airport tribute to a truly great man, you encourage everyone to stop and smell the proverbial flowers. And while smelling those flowers, check out the amazing ways Nature engineered life on our planet! Thank you, Destin, for bringing excitement into those "little things".
EDIT: Corrected grammar.
I live in ATL and fly out of concourse E all the time and I have never stopped to look at this! I will definitely take the time to stop next time! Thank you for sharing it with us.
I love when you post random videos of your off the cuff thoughts. Thanks for sharing this.
Nothing sadder than a picture of a kid with a dad who was shot. Great video.
Just went through Atlanta and stopped by this! Saw it and immediately thought of the video you made. Thanks for making me aware!
I can't think of any good reason not to share this with a wider audience. (Next time you're not sure, don't feel rushed; let the camera linger steadily for an extra beat so that anyone who wants to can pause and read the plaque or study the picture. You can always edit out a few seconds later if you think it's too long. That said, there was a spontaneity and an emotion that would be hard to recapture, and which I found touching, so my vote would be to release this as is rather than re-shoot or file it away. It's a gem that need not be cut or polished or compared to something possibly bigger and better. Thank you sharing it. Joe Gill
I loved how other patrons started to glance, pause, or view the exhibit items more and more as the video went on. There are so many places like that airport I've never been to, but because of you and your video, I know it exists, saw some of it, and grateful to be able to tell others who I know travel through there.
I enjoy airport exhibits. I'm one of those folks that can't JUST sit and wait for my flight (knowing I'm going to just be sitting for the next, however long); I have to wander around. I found the exhibit to Fred Rogers ( of Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood ) in the Pittsburgh airport and was nearly brought to tears. (This was well before the documentary.) Finding these small bits of history or art or architecture is always nice.
Thanks for sharing this, and for the reminder to stop and look at things one might normally pass right by without taking notice.
This is the perfect kind of content for the second channel. Teaches you something but isn't super crazy time consuming to make like your main videos.
Thanks for sharing this, I would never have know of it's existence otherwise. I love little bits of history and try to take my time wherever I go to stop and appreciate those little displays or info plaques. 🤗
This video is so random but so very human. It is so comforting to watch the human side of some great people like Destin. :)
Love from India🇮🇳
Yes this is wonderful to share, I have not been to the airport in many years. Charles
Thank you for this! I'll be in Atlanta within the next three months and this is now definitely on the list of things to check out.
Have scanned that display many times but never stopped to digest it. Well worth sharing.
Everyone should see this. I vote for main channel. Thanks Destin!
I fly through Atlanta all the time and I almost never have to go to concourse E. This Tuesday, I had to take a day trip to Toronto and my gate was in the E terminal. I also stopped for a minute to look at the exhibit. It's pretty interesting, thanks for pointing it out.
We see so many monuments, places or even things named after very influential figures that we forget the small things. Seeing this baseball bat really makes me think about "He's just the ordinary kind of guy, just a dad fighting through life." and it hits me that anyone can be as influential as Martin Luther King, there is only the necessity of motivation and principle to do so.
Destin. You are the man. We could use more leaders like you in the church, in our communities and in the world. Thanks for helping make me smarter every day.
Very cool
Woot! Atlanta! Near me. 😃 --- Love both your channels!
quality content! thank you so much for taking the time to even show us the little things.
I'll be in Hartsfield-Jackson next June/July and I will make it a point to try and stop by the exhibit so long as I have time. Thanks for pointing it out.
I always try to rush through airports while traveling, but next time I'll try to take my time. Apparently there's some really cool stuff in them! Thanks for sharing!
I'm a huge MLK fan and love history. This is awesome
Hey! I walked past that exhibit about a month ago on my way to Guatemala. Really cool that they just have that in the airport.
Been there just yesterday and had a look at precisely that exhibition, funny that I now find Destin talking about that not more than 24 hours later. Always a good idea in ATL to not take the people mover and instead have a stroll around the walks between the concourses to check out what the airport has on display.
Thanks Destin. Hidden treasure in plain sight. On my map now!
Your voice is very calming. I really appreciate that
Just going through my watch later and came across this video. It just so happens that I’ll be passing through ATL this week, so I’m going to take a look at this!
Thank you. I will be there next April and I will look for the exhibit.
It's crazy what you can miss when you don't take time to stop and look. I think this is definetly something you could share on your main channel :)
Thank you Destin. I’m in Atlanta now, and when I fly home, I’m definitely going to check this out.
Thank you for sharing this and many other great items
This is excellent stuff for the main channel I'd say. I can't remember if I've ever been to that particular concourse, but I'll be sure to check it out when I am!
Destin have you ever thought about doing a video about Werner VB, Walter Dornberger, Kurt Debus, and other operation paperclip scientists and what their role in rocket production was? I recently did a video on the subject and I'd be fascinated to hear your take on it.
Next time you are in Atlanta you absolutely need to go to the mlk museum! It’s such a powerful experience.
That's really neat. Thanks for sharing. I don't get to travel much so now I got to see it because of you. 👍👍👍
Hey destin my grandpa was their when Martin Luther king Jr. Was assassinated, he also went to high school with elvis at humes high school, and was at the million man March, and he was also an army dr. In vietnam and hes one of your biggest fans! He said if you wanna ask any questions he would love to answer them for you! Posting this for 82yr old grandfather.
Thanks for showing this. I should be going right passed that tomorrow on my trip and I will keep an eye out for it.
Destin and MLK are two people I strive to be like in my day to day life yall are both my heroes!
It's cool to appreciate the fact that the man was more than a message. He had hobbies and a life.
Very Cool. Thanks for posting this.
Thanks for sharing this location.
That's cool. Next time I have a flight through ATL, I'll look for it. Sadly, most of the displays in airports are just ads. Would be neat to have more of this on long lay overs
Thanks for spreading the news! 😊
Thank you for sharing.
I've also spent way too much time at the Atlanta airport. I've seen this exhibit before, but I'm sure there are a ton of exhibits I haven't seen yet. Atlanta doesn't have a laminar flow fountain though... Maybe they'll add that to the G gates when those get built?
Thank you for sharing. Dr King is one of my heroes.
The first time i get to be in the Atlanta Airport i will visit that display.
You are the best Justin!
Destin is the best
I'm from Germany. Back in 2002 at age 14 I had the chance to visit Martin Luther King Jr.'s birth House in Atlanta. My Dad took me there. Back then i could not realy grasp what he stood for. Later at school we lerned about his legacy. The last school I went on, is actually named after Martin Luther King, and I was humble to be there and get an good adjucation and to know thet he was honored.
Thanks. I can’t count the number of times I have been through Hartsfield-Jackson and I can’t recall ever even noticing that display. Cool stuff. Deserves more prominence.
Love it. A little slice of life here. Also a good reminder to always keep your head up and look around, you never know what you're going to find.
Good stuff! Thanks Destin!
I love this video. Thanks Destin
Thank you Sir.
Thanks Destin
Ealry! Love your videos Destin!
Thanks Destin!
RIP that window.
If you haven't, visit the Matting Luther King Jr. museum in Atlanta. There's a good half a day of sobering reading and viewing there, absolutely worth a look.
Thanks for sharing. These things cant be remembered enough. No matter where in the world. Greetings from Germany - a country also with a bad history of separating people... :(
Don't let anyone forget that freedom of speech is to protect unpopular opinions that some people would be offended by, back in the day Martin Luther King jr was coming to prominence his ideas were unpopular but he was right and everyone now knows that.
Huh. I’ve passed through Hartsfield-Jackson a lot and never seen that. Just goes to show what can pass right under your nose.
Thanks Destin.
Thank you Destin :-)
Thanks for sharing, Destin
You’re a good man brother. Thank you!
Thank you, Destin.
Thanks for sharing this Dustin. this is a perfect example of how we are sometimes so myopic that we can't see what's around us.
Thanks from Argentina
Thanks for sharing! :)
Thank you
Gracias.
It is unlikely I will ever be there, thanks for making a video sharing the display.
That is something that looks easy to walk past without noticing. I will keep an eye out for it if I'm ever in Atlanta, thanks. Worth putting the word out imo.
"after he was assassinated" man, those words just hit me hard. I know the world is getting better, but it hits you right in the chest with how far we have to go
World war 3 is about to break out. Not sure how that's getting "better" but hey. Hang in there friend.
@@Ranstone I have my doubts about WW3, but the point I am making is more people living longer with a higher quality of life than ever in earth's history. I find the current political climate unnerving, but the world used to be more at war then it has in the last century.
Thank you ,
I would prolly never actually see this display .
Don't be sad , Hundreds of folk's will see the display now , :-) .
Loved it! Share it!
Now I have a good reason to plan a layover in Atlanta.
Thanks Destin to turn the spotlight on this history artefacts that changed the world!
I have layovers in Atlanta all the time
When Destin stops to smell the roses...
Super cool! Thanks for sharing (:
Last thing I would think about seeing of his. Very interesting.
And now tens of thousands of people have seen it
Cool.. Thanks, brother. That was something special.
You’ve shared this before, but I like it all the same
I remember seeing some cool exhibits in an airport nearby when I was going somewhere, and now I’m thinking maybe I should go over there one day and go through security just to look at this kind of thing. The Seattle airport has some cool art stuff in memory of Native Americans. Next time I’m going someplace cool I should stop and look
I think its better for your second chanel. Your main chanel is all about science and why you love it. This video doesn't realy fit in to it. Anyway thanks for sharing
Keep up the good work
Thanks
This is awesome
Go check out the King Papers project at Stanford University next time you are out in the Bay Area! I used to work there researching and documenting all of his speeches, sermons, books, etc.
