    Honestly, this was my favorite game in the series lol. I thought it did a good job of combining elements of the classic and BN games. I agree that the difficulty is badly balanced though, the early game is unforgiving and requires grinding to overcome the disadvantage

    i like the game. the maxed out damage charge buster is actually pretty godly. stuff like double jump and star arrow are cool because they can really change how you tackle stages. most bosses are deliberately designed to require some more thought than just damage trading like in classic megaman. its primary issue is the custom gauge and a few chips like popup that are way overtuned. fireman is a bit too tough for a starting boss, and maybe quickman should be a later boss too, but doing needleman into iceman into laser man into quick man gives you probably the best onboarding experience. It not requiring the player to collect every chip to 100% is actually a very nice change of pace, navi-completion really is all that ever should have been expected from the games. I'll probably replay it soon.
    also use chips. this isnt megaman, its BN.

    • @pcdeltalink036
      @pcdeltalink036 Před 11 měsíci +1

      Program advances were stupidly ridiculous to setup usually requiring you to waste your entire chip folder to finally get all the correct chips in the same “chip drop” (don’t know what else to call it, lol).
      I never found a situation that needed them.

      @@memberofchat2825 There is a HUGE difficulty spike not too far into the game with Bright Man and Quick Man.
      Bright Man is the first to have the stupid shield mechanic (that on a recent emulator replay I couldn't even remember how to bypass it).
      Quick Man has the insta kill lasers that almost require a very obscure chip from the ghost enemies from the area that used to be on fire to have a chance to get past them.

    I think the chip system is better in Network Transmission. Like you, I also found the front loaded difficulty insurmountable when I was younger but I recently played through Network Transmission again and I learned to really really love it. The secret was to start our farming Cannon chips and registering it so you always get it until you max out Power and Charge. Difficulty is definitely front loaded though and traversing the internet became a lot more fun once I had more than 2 or 3 uses of any given chip.

    This game was a bold and creative mix between classic and Battle Network MegaMan. Aside from the overtuned difficulty at the start, it's plenty of fun. And I have to be the one to flat out deny the points presented at 7:40 as accurate. A fully upgraded MegaMan in this game doesn't even need cannon-like chips, the buster alone is enough, except when it comes to those Life Aura enemies.

    I personally loved this game when I got it back in the day as an mmbn fan. But I cannot deny the flaws this game has either. Like you said, fireman and gutsman are pretty strong bosses for the beginning of the game.
    Also an flaw in the battle against Zero.EXE is his charged undodgeable attack. He charges and does 2 slash attacks in succesion wich just fills the WHOLE screen. The only way to get no damage from it is by using an invincibility chip or somehting like that.
    And who knows, maybe I would not hold it in such a high regard if I had played the wonder swan version first or at all in my life.

    I feel bad for ARIKA because they weren't used to this kind of game. It's staff was former capcom employees from the street fighter series ("ARIKA" is reversed from "Akira Nishitani", their founder and one of the creators of Street Fighter 2, the other one was also named Akira lol). They wanted more creative freedom and left to their own company, and duh they made more Street Fighter games. They def weren't used to making stuff like this.

    actually i loved this game, definitively a flaw it has is that it doesnt tell the player how to use the game mechanics properly, but if you persevere and learn them its a great game, fireman and gutsman once you learn their patterns they are actually fairly easy, there are harder bosses like brightman or quickman.

      You know there’s RPGs that exist where you don’t have to grind? Like play the Kingdom Hearts games on normal if you’re decent at them or easy if you just want to chill. Or any RPG that has easy settings like Persona games are perfect if you don’t want to grind just pick easy or very easy. Persona 5 even has a safety mode where you really can’t lose

    I know people like to take a dump on this game, and the game kinda deserves it, but I personally like it. The music is obviously great but some of the boss fights i actually liked, like Pharaohman and Protoman. The Bass fight was to me too bothersome, and even fireman was just weird to fight, but the stage environments, for being a gba game being brough to "3D" from a series always known to be 2D side scrolling, it was neat. I'd call it a "cool loser" of a game.

      Well, it's MegaMan, not like we were expecting a work of Shakespeare. As for the gameplay, I hated it as a kid, and grown to like it as an adult. It's a pretty creative mix of BN and classic MegaMan, the difficulty is simply excessive for the first 4 or so bosses... But I think it just makes the game more unique, things get manageable once you progress a bit, and by the end of the game, a properly upgraded MegaMan feels like a powerhouse.
