Their brother goes missing, and turns up out of nowhere from an alternate dimension exhausted, starving, and filthy and they kick him out for wanting to take a shower. How kind.
I'm home sick and ran across this. Love it. Fyi- if your sim has the hardiness trait and reaches a certain level, I think it's 5, he CAN restore the junk yard finds. I used it for a rags to riches story. Not the cars, of course, just the items he finds rummaging through the junk yard piles. Then you can sell it. No mods needed. It's part of the hardiness trait.
Fun fact about the camera! I found out recently that it's actually a glitch that all your sims get it, it's meant to be given to the tourists for their idle animations of taking photos of things (which were also accidentally disabled in a later patch), but I think when university life came out they became like this? also love the concept of this lets play,,, I should install this world, although I don't like using cc much personally so I'm a bit torn knowing I need it to make the town work
Oh cool I never knew that. It always felt kind of like cheating for it to be there if I'm doing a legacy challenge or something that involves money as you could just sell it and get 750 Simoleans quickly so I always leave it.
Yeah that's difficult regarding CC. I did recently come across a different and more recent Strangetown world for The Sims 3 (created in 2021,) which I haven't tried yet but looking now it seems that one also requires CC:

I think most creators really wanted to keep certain aesthetic elements the same as the original games. They both seem to use the crashed ship and cacti CC. This other world also uses the rabbit hole rugs. I think most of the rabbit holes in the world I downloaded are from expansion packs so not CC not 100% sure.
I haven't tried installing Sims 3 worlds without the suggested custom content so I'm not sure what happens like if it just replaces stuff with placeholder objects, or just deletes it. That wouldn't be too much of a problem for hood decor objects but obviously gameplay stuff like rabbit hole rugs would be important unless you replace those lots.
I didn't realise how much I needed this kind of videos in my life, and by that I mean your playthroughs!! Super fun rules, this deserted island idea sounds awesome too. And as always I love these tiny intermissions with no commentary, like just a few seconds of Vidcund in the bath, it gives awesome vibes. Amazing

I really liked the rules you enforced during the playthrough! Definitely makes it much more challenging but fun at the same time. Looking forward to seeing the next part~ I'm going to download Strange Town and enjoy it, seemed very cool

I downloaded Strangetown and it looks nothing like the one in the video, all the rabbitholes are missing even tho I have all the eps and every single lot is set to "not routable" or something.
That's weird it worked OK for me but I did have some routing issues with the art gallery community lot. I don't know why the rabbitholes would be missing unless it didn't install correctly. Either that or maybe a later expansion broke the world? I'll have to try it again later since when I made this video I didn't have the Island Paradise pack installed but recently bought that finally and haven't played that world since installing it.
@@CalipersandTongs I forget to install the cc for it, my bad. But the lots are still not routable. Thank you for the answer, I will try again.

Do you have the seasons and supernatural expansions? It says you need those so that might be why. If you do then I'm not sure why it's not installing.
