- This badass little Volkswagen showed up to Streetcar Takeover Indy to make some dyno pulls on the new bored and stroked motor with a turbo strapped on! What makes this car so awesome is the backstory and how unique this thing is, you don’t see these things on the road EVER! This $400 piece of scrap that was supposed to go to the junkyard now runs down the highway boasting over 200hp out of the little draw through carb turbo setup in the rear, how cool is that!?

Never really been a fan of VW's but these are cool, especially this one! 230 at the wheels in a car that's light (and getting lighter with the way that rust is going) is a good recipe for some fun!

We have a lot of Karman Guia and Beetle here in Brazil. Some with 200/300cv in the streets in perfect conditions. This cars are our pride, on the streets and in the drag races.

Love the old Ghia!!!The looks like an old "Turbo City" set up. I built 2 of those set ups some 20 years ago, One set up is on a 2110 in a sand rail, that one dynoed 226hp. The other set up was on a 1914 and it spun a rod before we got the bugs worked out. Great to see the old stuff, Get some decent brakes on it. Great Build, Thanks for sharing.

I can't even begin to imagine how fun this thing must be to drive. Just driving down the highway banging gears with the motor just screaming at you like "BWAAAAAAAAARGH." Even if it's not blowing minds on the internet with the power it still looks like a blast and I bet it'd haul some tail!

If you wanna up it by a tiny notch, get a plate starting in "OS", standing for "Osnabrück", the down it was build in. Else wise, super bad ass ride. Sounds and looks fantastic!

there was one when i was younger in RI that had the Transaxle and engine from a 911 gt3 rs. the 911 was totaled before everything was removed (felt like I needed to say that before someone got mad over ripping a fine gt3 rs apart).

Aircooleds are underestimated! Used to own a type 3 squareback, currently in the market for a karmann or another type 3. My buddy had a 2100cc notchback that would smoke the 05-09 mustangs and the 09-10? I'm camaros when they came out. Cheap to buy build and fix

its been done and it ended badly, its hard to get a transaxle to hold up to that.
+Spencer Hall why not use a stock K-series transaxle like the MR2 guys? Or even a Dog Box, perhaps? Unless that isn't with the space constraints.
a vr6 has been done mid engine like that, its basically 3 cylinders across so it fit, i dont know if a k series would work. this guy did it mounted in the stock location somehow and it ended up not making that much power or something like that, and not as fast as most turbo type 1 vw powered bugs. subaru swap looks like a good one and the rotary swapped bugs look fun. mounting a radiator is difficult
