Those Hornby adverts were my childhood dream! My grandparents got me an old Triang set in the 70s (still have it and it still works) but I loved the "nothing goes like it, nothing grows like it" ads, and Bernard Cribbins. Could only afford a few things each year from our local hobby shop but the experience was magic. Even have my original Hornby Thomas the Tank Engine ( bought it when I was in High school) as I loved reading the railway series as a kid. Nowadays kids just demand everything at once, there's no patience and sence of earning something or reward! Pity!

We honestly need more fun commercials like the "I'm Hornby Sized" ones. Put the people into the perspective of who we think about while playing with our model trains. Old, young, black, white, man, woman, doesn't matter, all types, shapes, and sizes can love trains, and these kinds of commercials really put you into the action.
Guarantee it'd look a hell of a lot better too with this modern age of technology. Better green screening, maybe even some VR stuff, make it look real. "Here I am standing next to the Flying Scotsman! (Looks up) Oh wait, that's not the REAL Flying Scotsman, that's just Hornby's new retooled and remodeled Scotsman, now with realistic steam effects and sounds. Just a dash of smoke fluid into the stack, turn 'er on, and watch the puffs of smoke billow from the stack and hiss out of the cylinders. It depends on the model, but I find Hornby does better steam locomotives and Bachmann does better diesel locomotives

shame hornby have put the price of train hobbying these days beyond ridiculous! the inital train set is reasonable but after that you will need to re mortgage your house!
