    I am not a gamer but I am a very heavy wireless / device user with over 60 connected devices. What I like about the Asus AXE16000 has nothing to do with gaming but the security / configuration ability. I have a TP-link archer AX-11000 and while very fast, it has limits on its whitelisted devices as well as weak security / traffic analysis as well as inferior logging of that traffic. Great basic router for gaming but very weak on configuration unlike the ASUS GT-AX16000. You can also connect over 200 devices to the Asus but only 64 on the TP-Link (57 only would white list).

    In my opinion before selecting a router you need to know your maximum line speed then select a router thats slightly faster. The reason, its a waste of money buying the fastest router available if your max line speed is less than 1mb in the case of adsl like mine. Unfortunately I do not have fiber available in my zone so I'm stuck with dsl for now so almost any modern day router is well capable.

    They talk like WiFi6 is the latest. WiFi6e is generally available and has the new 6GHz band. TP-Link has the emerging WiFi7, and these should be discussed in any recommend, particularly when talking about future proofing. All these models are optimized for small properties and mesh technology is better for medium and large properties. The TP-Link Deco series and other mesh APs should be considered for large properties as it has excellent mesh technology.

    The TP-Link AX6000 must be nearing the end of it's useful life as the manufacturer, TP-Link, has been silently removing features from the router in an effort to push owners into buying new routers.
    My guess is that they have a new router about to come out as a replacement.
    Unfortunately, as a TP-LINK AX6000 owner, this is a major blunder on their part as I will NEVER ever own another TP-Link product. TP should now be equivalent to "TOILET PAPER" and flushed properly .

    None of these reviews cover the MOST important spec: How fast are the WIRED WAN connections? That is how most of us will be connecting.

    • @michaels2330
      @michaels2330 Před rokem +14

      Wired Ethernet connection to most of these routers include at least one 2.5Gb/5Gb port, assuming your end device supports those speeds. But you are asking WAN speed - so that is really determined by the modem you plug into for your home internet. Most home ISPs offer up to 1Gb, so you would only get up to that. If you need more than 1Gb speeds between devices, LAN or WAN, might I suggest moving to fiber optic from copper interfaces - this requires the use of switches, WiFi will be a major choke point otherwise.
