Indrid Cold, the Truth about Planet Lanulos and the Mystery of the Smiling Man
On November 2nd, 1966, Woody Derenberger was driving home from a business trip when he encountered an extraterrestrial being named Indrid Cold.
Cold communicated with Woody telepathically, and the two went on to be lifelong friends. Other people close to Woody, including family, friends, and even his therapist claimed that they, too, had experiences with Indrid Cold.
Woody wrote and published a detailed account of his experiences, and never went back on his story. Since the 1960s, the legend of Indrid Cold has become one of the most famous in all of UFO lore.
Taken at face value, this story sounds strange.
But the real story … is even stranger.

There are no other planets. This channel is an agent who tells you a bunch of interesting stuff. Just don't mention the real cosmology and boom he's a million view conspiracy channel which is not organic.

There's only one thing I don't like about this show and that is that there's not more episodes. 10/10 you guys are awesome, keep up the good work!
I have watched ALL the episodes twice -- a few of them I have watched THREE times! AJ has a terrific format of explaining the whole story, and then exposing the lies or exaggerations. Most often, the viewer is left with a few interesting tidbits that cannot be explained and are open to interpretation and further research. In a couple of episodes, AJ wasn't able to poke many holes in the story and the viewer is left with his mind spinning. Very interesting!!! AND entertaining!!!

I have already seen every single episode@least 2x - there was one day here recently that I spent the entire day (after googling the seasons/episodes chronological order list) that I watched each one even if I had already watched it from start to finish… it was cool to see how from the beginning, AJ and Hecklefish was great right from S1/E1, but the show’s certainly changed format-wise and improved in every aspect over time… compared to the start, the way things are done now are eons ahead. Thing is, AJ does intensive research into the topics he covers. More episodes would mean lower quality, because less time to research, edit, etc…
I don't like that he debunks every story. I love conspiracy channels for a good mystery but instead we get... 'nope, not real' at the end of every video.

Interesting.. I was in contact with Taunia Derenberger a year or two before her death. She told me that that Indrid and some of the "crew" would show up at their house and " mingle " with the people lurking outside. She said that they drove a Volkswagen beetle sometimes.

I grew up in Parkersburg, WV, and my brother, an incredibly creative and gifted individual, was born in the early morning hours of November 2, 1966 at the same time that Woody first encountered the spacecraft.. Our family joke was that Chris was 'dropped of'' by Mr. Cold and that that is why he was so "different." He died suddenly in 2012. I sure miss him

Maybe Indrid was trying to establish friendly contact and knew Smiling was a way to express happiness and joy to humans. So he smiled but didn't know that he was probably scaring them with a massive smile.

my partner loved mrballen until I pointed out he is largely just BS'n a good story (i;e his art is telling a story from a point of view that is not accessible to him.)
personally, that's why I like him, but she dismisses him as phony now (i introduced her to his story telling).
for me, I appreciate his ability to tell a believable and entertaining narrative from information others present as data points in their true crime explorations of the same experience.
But she is firmly now unimpressed with his creative interpretation of events passed.
ironically, she loves for me to read stories aloud.
@veryhumam7472 MrBallen does a wonderful and respectful job of telling true stories and when he tells it from a certain perspective, it's always based on fact whether it's police reports or confessions. He might pepper in little, unimportant details that make it a better story but it's never anything that changes or takes away from the truth of the story.

I've unfortunately been in the hospital for a bad accident, the good news though is that I've found your channel. My family lived in a small rural town in West Virginia back in the 1950s, I wasn't born yet. But many years ago, my sister told me a story of looking out a window one evening and being startled to see a "smiling man" looking back at her. She screamed and called my mom, who called my uncle who was a policeman, he came out but they never found any trace of the man. It is a creepy story, and I always just pegged it as some vagrant peeping tom, but after hearing this story it makes me wonder, because she always said there was something unearthly about the man.

Crackpot theory: Indrid Cold was showing Woody an Utopian planet based on Woody's own thoughts. It was a dream catered exclusively to him, and all of it was part of an experiment done to see how the individual would respond to being shown such stimuli and how our society at large would react to such a story.

Was just in a severe car accident with my girlfriend. Car rolled over 6 times at 60mph and we both survived without even breaking any bones. Really appreciate how you cover the for and against sides of each story. Even if a story is wholly or partly made it up, we can learn from it to spot the flaws in other stories. After testing all stories, hopefully the truth remains.
yeah best approach to limit recency and primacy biases is to argue for both passionately when presenting initially.

He’s an amazing story teller. Idk if he writes his own script or if he has writers, but his delivery paired with the images, really allows you to immerse yourself into the story

Most people are already watching people they like and would give a "like" to. Most of the time, they forget to do so. Saying "please like" in your video triggers a lot of people to actually "like" the video.
It won't make random people to "like" it just because you tell them to, but as a reminder, it's working extremely well.

This is the only channel on youtube that gives both sides. There is nothing more satisfying than to hear a story and then going through the facts so i can discern truth from fiction for myself. I would watch this guy before any news channel. I feel like i can trust him which is something i dont feel about the news and any other story telling channel. Best one In the history of the internet. Im open for debate on that.

I was here in January of 2021 before there were even 1,000 subs, I want to say it was around mid-January. By June of 2022 it was somewhere around 180,000 subs. Then it just went parabolic.
It's blown up fast. I joined at like 30 or 60k or something like that and I swear it was a year ago or less.
So crazy story. I was walking from Princeton West Virginia to Bluefield West Virginia because of reasons. Halfway through my journey I saw literally the brightest light I've ever encountered in my life. It was almost as if it was daytime again even though it was 3 in the morning. About a minute after it happened a patrol car I had passed maybe 10 minutes before hand came strollin up asking me questions about what happened because even he saw it.
Weird! When was this, roughly? Did the light have any sort of color? Did you see a clear source - with a shape (column, circle, etc) or coming from a direction (straight ahead, to your left, etc) - or did it just seem to suddenly be daylight all around you for a moment?
If it's the former: I once was driving home in north Texas, ~6y ago, after dark, and suddenly saw this huge purple-tinged column of light come straight down onto the road miles ahead. No sound, and I recall looking for clouds and seeing none, so I don't think it was lightning. But who knows. The news never mentioned it.
If it was the latter (sudden daylight, all around): that reminds me of stories some have shared online about walking around their homes minding their own business, and then suddenly it's pitch black, like someone accidentally turned off the sun for a second lol. But, yours would be the opposite, I suppose.

I will be 31 this October and I was 20 so about 11 years ago. It was like a flooding kind of light and it was descending straight down. As quickly as the light appeared it was gone which isn't too unusual. WV is the least flat place in the U.S by geography. It easily could have went down several hundred feet before it hit the ground even though when I first noticed it, it was at the tree lines. Idk if it was a UFO or what. I was way to scared to go check it out but it was def the weirdest thing that's ever happened to me

The first bit was an ad. He looks legit sick in this episode though. You can see it in his eyes and color. You can also hear a little congestion. I hope he's feeling better 🙂

You'd think that if an extraterrestrial species wanted to make themselves known to humanity, then they'd just...make themselves known. They wouldn't just tell one guy driving on a rural road in West Virginia and ask him to spread it around.
What if they want to stay under the radar for reasons that we'll never know? It could be more of a spiritual/interdimentional phenomenon if it's not extra terrestrial or even terrestrial, we can't rule out aliens living among us with secret mountain and underwater bases.
That's what you'd think.
But there could be complicated politics or something going on in the background that makes that difficult.
Or something.

I like the realer episodes. Don't enjoy the obviously fake stuff as much. Still enjoyable but slightly worse then real ones. No man just has aliens coming to him left and right and getting tours and aliens far away believing in God, and light travel but live like humans.
