i would have never thought that the dimpled backing would be so convenient. Wasn't so sure at first because of the looks but now i love it, i don't think i'll ever drop this.
This was bought to replace an old Lenovo tablet which was essentially too sluggish to cope with modern websites. czcams.com/users/postUgkxz4qYZoyAOb_hq_UbaKI6AsZX0FnoFm-U This tablet is fast, has a very clear display with built in optional eye comfort shield, great sound with Dolby Atmos, split screen option and numerous tweaks that I've not yet explored. I've plugged a wireless receiver into the i/o socket to connect a mouse if I need it and a bluetooth keyboard works fine - unlike the Lenevo which somehow would often garble the input. Battery life seems good. In short I'm very pleased with it
I saw the tablet today, held it in my hands and fell in love. The sleek design and terrific display and features blew me away.That's definetly my next tablet.

TheDark Knut FYI you dimwit, I've already said in my comments that I own a samsung shit, and actually its opposite of what you said, I was impressed for the first 2 minutes, and after using it for just a week, it irritated me so much that I wanted to throw it and shatter it into pieces EVERY DAY, until i got NEXUS 7 2013, which is the BEST efficient and smooth android device till date. You are one of those 99% SAMSUNG "15 minute a day" user who doesn't know what PERFORMANCE is and without even comparing the two devices, blindly follow the herd, only HARDCORE and HEAVY tab and phone users like me can differentiate between mediocre and high performance, I bet you being a SAMSUNG lover don't even know more than 10% of its features, like I do and appreciate it, there is no doubt samsung has so many awesome useful and in true sense smart features (I just love Samsung virtual keyboard, its best, even than google's, the multi window and so many others, they are simply awesome and BTW, I don't hate samsung's plastic make or anything else than its TOUCHWIZ, which is the main culprit in samsung's stuttering and hanging issues, even all experts believe so) but only, if it could've worked as smooth as apple products, I am not even completely satisfied by apple's performance, but it is by far the best in the world, in performance department, and yes, how I wish ipad and iphone had samsung's features or samsung had iphone's butter smoothness and efficiency it would be a perfect product. I suggest you watch PHONEBUFF's samsung v/s ipad speedtest videos, even NEXUS is no match for ipad, just try a simple comparison of screen rotation between them, even at the fastest SAMSUNG takes 50% more time rotating from portrait to landscape and vice a versa, after watching an IPHONE video where the guy opens HEAVY 15 apps and games without closing the other down and reopens all of them again, all of them opened so...fast and were where he left them it the first time, I tried that with NEXUS 7 2013 (couldn't even think of doing this with SAMSUNG), forget about re-opening it can't even open more than 8 apps and games for the first time, and started stuttering heavily and I had to shut it down for 2 hours before it could work properly again.

Nova launcher is a lot like stock. However it isn't a fix for the poor laggy touchwiz apps like the Gallery app which is absolutely atrocious.

I looked at these at a store yesterday and they are surprisingly thin, also very very light. The screen is surprising too as it is vibrant and pictures look stunning. Will definitely be saving up for one of these

Last week I purchased this tablet for my husband who just turned 62, fights technology, and has never owned a tablet. For his use, it is a perfectly wonderful introduction to Android. He currently has an iPhone, but when it goes, I'm pretty sure this experience will make him very amenable to also having an Android phone... and that will make me very happy. Thank you ever so much for a wonderful review.

Still has more function than a modern day iPad pro. Samsung was way ahead of the game. And it still looks good.

Excellent Unboxing and Review, Mike. Very informative and detailed as always (Plus, now in 4k add more refine quality to your videos). This is the thinnest tablet I have seen from Samsung yet (its going to get even thinner in the future) and bring more feature with it. For speakers, I don't know why but they seems to always put the speakers in the wrong places on all their devices and their not so great sounding speakers (that's should be expect, it's not too terrible but could be a lot better). The software said of things, the Touchwiz UI still needs a lot of work (its quite better than previous versions but still needs work) the delays/lags are very noticeable.
With that said, the S 8.4 is still great device to buy (I would pick up one, if I needed it). Oh, for got the mention. The bronze color option is a great addition (not digging it too much but looks great). Once again great video, much thanks for it.

That was a perfect review, you really nailed every aspect, pro and con, of that tablet. I recently purchased it, and I noticed a stutter and lag and I didn't know what the cause was until I saw your review where you brought out that touch wiz is the culprit. If Samsung insists on having that overlay and loading their tablets with features, the way they do, they have GOT to find a better way to smooth out the laggy edges.
Great review -- watched it just an hour or so before splashing out and ordering :) Mine arrived a fortnight or so ago!!! I love it so far. So quick, and the display really is beautiful! Works wonderfully with a lil 32GB microSD card (one of the deciding factors for me when considering whether to get an iPad mini or not!) My brother got an iPad mini for christmas and tbh I love them both equally! The slimness of the Tab S is v lovely to hold and the plastic back really isn't as off putting as people seem to be making out, but I do love the aluminium chill of the slightly thicker iPad mini too!! I went for function over form (knowing I'd need more than 16gb within a few months), but in truth I just recommend going for whichever you think will work best for your overall compatibility (mac users for iPad, windows users for Android, as per). xxxxx

I just got this and its great. The screen is amazing. I use an astronomy app and I really appreciate how this screen displays rich realistic black color. While I'm viewing space pictures. And then that contrasted with the colors of planets, moons, and other space related things, looks really good. I love it!

Had been using this and i said its so amazing.the size, the resolution and its android.battery last longing.and i can read manga like a real manga book.the white leather is beautiful and the sleek design is just fantastic .nothing to complain about.i had other tab too but this is so far the best.Best of all its a phone too.i can still conference when my colleague when phone battery die, while working on my project using the tab, using multi window to acess my work and the chrome.and if i really wan to complain something i would say theres no pen.but easily solve by buying a third party pen.

I don't have this particular tablet, but with other tablets, I have found that if you cup your hands around the speakers, it will increase the volume naturally by directing the sound waves toward you.

I've been using this tablet ever since 2014, and I have to say it's held up quite well. Now, I wouldn't recommend purchasing this tablet now as there are better tablets available, but I'm typing this to vent my general point of view on this tablet. This tablet has an overall amazing screen, even after 2 years. WiFi works well, and it's a great media device, but the processor does show its age in complex web pages and some entertainment applications. Also, the battery has shown signs of wear-and-tear as the battery seems to deplete quicker than when I first purchased the tablet. I would also like to add the 16 gigabytes that come with this tablet are quite limiting. I eventually purchased a mico-SD card for the tablet after a few weeks of purchase. So summarizing this simple review, I would say this has been more of a media comsumption tablet, more than a power user type tablet. It does offer power user features, but the performance somewhat hammers them. Nontheless, the features aren't useless. I've found myself sometimes using them for dual application use.
